On the latest episode of the Chit Chat podcast, I had the pleasure of conversing with my dear friend, Charly Bourne. Charly shared insights about her work in sustainable horticulture at RHS Bridgewater and emphasized the importance of individual efforts towards a sustainable lifestyle for a better tomorrow. We delved into the topic of climate change and the responsibility we hold as a society to make positive changes for a brighter future. Our conversation then shifted to our personal journeys with mental health and how understanding the workings of our mind has contributed to a more positive outlook on life. I hope you find this episode as enjoyable to listen to as I did to have. I had a beautiful conversation with Pablo Meccano. A coach, and writer, with a depth of insight on how we are always present in the moment and how life can be exceptionally wonderful when we experience it from this space. Pablo shared some of his personal health challenges and how he is helping his body to heal from a diagnosis of prostate cancer. I felt humbled by the way Pablo approaches his experience of cancer as a portal to understanding himself and his spiritual life more deeply and how by using "nature's pharmacy" and psychedelics he is offsetting the side effects of powerful, yet damaging Western medicines. We also discussed our shared appreciation of playing the bass guitar and his love for writing science fiction stories. I hope that you enjoy this episode. I had a fantastic conversation with Donna Mackenzie-Smyth about her experiences of navigating menopause while recovering from a stroke. We discussed the positives and negatives of those experiences and how she's had to adapt her life to her new needs while not letting anything stop her from being who she is and doing what she loves. Donna has developed an artistic project called Scrapheap - made by and for women experiencing menopause to highlight some of the experiences that women go through, but may not discuss. At the end of the video episode on YouTube, you will see some images that Donna and her photographer Laura Page developed for the project. It was lovely to be in conversation with my beautiful friend, gardener, and writer - Charly Bourne.Charly and I have been friends for years, and when I embarked on a journey of exploring the Three Principles understanding Charly came along with me for the ride. She has been on her own journey of understanding the 3P's and so it's lovely to get together from time to time to compare notes and see how each of us is getting on with the insightful experience of understanding how the mind works. Charly is a beautiful writer, and gardener and spends most of her professional life engaging in these activities. she speaks about her experiences of the 3P's, gardening and writing in this podcasts and where she is at in her understanding of the mind, emotions, and being uncharacteristically "zen" about a lot of things in her life. I also love what Charly shares about her experience of being in the garden doing her work. It's a very laid back, conversational episode that I hope you will love and be relaxed with.To see more of what Charly does you can check out her Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/born2garden/services/

In this episode, I had a beautiful conversation with my amazing friend - Chandy Singh-Hart, and we had the kind of conversation we would have had if we were sat in one of our living rooms together - drinking tea (or more accurately wine/cider!) and passing the time.Chandy works as an Enterprise Executive for The Princes Trust where she has supported young people for over a decade in realising their business dreams and ambitions. We talked a little bit about what she does in this role, and about some of the work she has been involved in.We then went onto talk about some of our early sexual experiences as women. One of the things I love about Chandy is her light-hearted openness when discussing sex.She has a beautiful and liberal feminist outlook on sex, which has definitely inspired me over the years to shed embarrassment around my journey of sexual understanding and experience. For those of you who know Chandy well, Mr Toad did get an honourable mention! We also went on to explore our shared experience of losing our mums and how that tragedy has affected us both in coming to terms with life without our maternal figures being present. We spoke about resilience and finding the strength within to keep moving forward, and also explored the inspiration behind Chandy's infamous (within our friendship circle) doll work.It was beautiful to have this conversation with Chandy, and even more special to share it on the week of International Women's Day - In honour of our beautiful loved spiritual mums. I hope you enjoy listening to our no holes barred conversation.Disclaimer* There is a LOT of swearing and sex talk in it - so it is not for the faint of hearts. Lots of love. Shaneen
In this 9th episode of the Free To Be Podcast, I have a conversation with my lovely vegan friend, and colleague - Phil McManus. Phil and I both work at Leeds City Council and met when he was assigned to train me when I started my latest role. We hit it off from day one, and have stayed in touch as friends ever since. This isn't the first conversation I had with Phil to discuss his voluntary position as Regional Co-ordinator for the North-East at Sea Shephard UK and the work he does for marine conservation, but the first recording we did wasn't great so I decided to invite Phil for another chat so we could capture a clearer recording.  (If you would like to read the transcript of that first conversation you can email me at shaneen.mooney@gmail.com for a copy.)In this conversation, Phil and I discussed what inspired him to take up a role with Sea Shepherd and what he loves about marine conversation work. He shared some worrying fact about how we treat the oceans and sea life and how that is having a massive detrimental impact on the environment and state of our waters.Phil also shared some inspiring documentaries about animal activism, animal cruelty and what inspired him to become vegan and to start on this path of animal activism and marine conservation work. Programmes to watch for more info:Dominion - https://vimeo.com/278963435The Cove - https://youtu.be/JtB36cztCh0Earthlings - https://youtu.be/8gqwpfEcBjICowspiracy - On NetflixGamechangers - On NetflixFor more information about Sea Shepherd UK, visit - www.seashepherduk.orgI hope you enjoy listening to this conversation, as much as I loved being part of it. Lots of love, Shaneen x
