In this episode a  mother talks about her sons struggle with homelessness and also how he is able to adapt so well: making friends, being kind and having compassion. Severe mental illness is a long road with ups and downs and today we hear about how Dianne Rabinsowitz has also grown, while supporting her son with his ilness.
In this interview we hear from Mary, who's son has had behavioral difficulties since a small child. During this emotional interview Mary talks about the long-time frustration, fear and heartaches that she has had to juggle in attempting to give her severely mentally disabled son a normal life.
In this episode I talk about the importance in taking care of ourselves. Often, care providers forget to care for themselves: being too busy, forgetting, not knowing how important it is or not knowing where to start. Caring for ourselves is so important for our personal, mental and spiritual growth and its especially critical after something so traumatic as  seeing our child loose their minds with psychosis and living with severe mental illness.
Today we talk with Kartar Diamond, author of, Noah's Schizophrenia: A Mother's search for Truth. Kartar discusses  her personal journey with Naoh and his journey with schizophrenia, the many gaps in the mental health system, some of the struggles that most all parents go through when their children have a severe mental illness and her newest book. Karta's advocacy for change  and strength is inspiring.
Jennifer Mallett d'Entermont, Masters degree-prepared Psychology teacher talks about her journey with her son who suffers with severe mental illness, the importance of self-care, boundaries and laughter. With this show we create a space to hear the heartbreaking story and hopefully connect with another parent who lost her child to a brain disease that causes psychosis: schizoaffective, schizophrenia.  Find the host of the Lonely Parent Podcast on Facebook or Instagram, Naomi Pascoe.
