In today's episode we discuss Purple Day which is epilepsy awareness day in North America and we are joined by Cassidy Meghan - Founder of Purple Day & Angela Asemota - Purple Day Ambassador & Founder of Angie Epilepsy Foundation in Nigeria. Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26th annually, people in countries around the world are invited to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy awareness. Last year, people in more than 85 countries on all continents participated in Purple Day! Canada is the only country in the world who officially recognizes March 26th as Purple Day through the Purple Day Act implemented on June 28, 2012. The purple day act was started by Cassidy Meghan at the age of 8.  In the first part of this episode Cassidy explains her personal experience with epilepsy and the joy of having people celebrate purple day around the world and the importance of spreading mass awareness for epilepsy. In the second part of this episode, we are joined by Angela  Asemota - Purple Day Ambassador & Founder of Angie Epilepsy Foundation in Nigeria.  Angela started the Angie Epilepsy Foundation in Nigeria after her son got diagnosed with epilepsy.  Angela decided to chase her vision to set up this foundation on the 16th day of September, 2010  and so far, she has visited different religious houses, e.g. mosques, catholic and non-Catholic churches, creating the awareness that epilepsy is not contagious and that stigmatization is a crime. However her message goes beyond the churches and the mosques, it goes to where there is a media house because she wants the world to know that Epilepsy is a disease of the Brain which is highly misunderstood and stigmatized. Most of those affected by epilepsy live in developing countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Liberia. You can find out ways to raise awareness on purple day here and you can find out more and donate to Angie Epilepsy Foundation in Nigeria:  here. There are so many ways to donate and spread awareness... some have been listed here by the Canadian Epilepsy Alliance. Don't forget to share this episode with friends to raise awareness as well. Thank you inspirations!!! To be featured on our weekly shoutout, be sure to check us out on all platforms listed on our website. We will also be sharing video content from today's episode on our Instagram IGTV and Happy Purple Day!  We hope you go into the weekend feeling inspired after listening to this!
