Today we have with us on the show, a very talented athlete and an Olympian, Jeanelle Scheper. She competes in High Jump in Track & Field and has represented Saint Lucia at many national and international even including World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. Also, Scheper is just the second athlete from St. Lucia to qualify for the high jump final in the World Championships in Athletics after Levern Spencer. In this interview with Jeanelle Scheper we will talk about her childhood and when she got into track & field, particularly high jump. Our today's guest is an inspiration to not just athletes but for every one of us. He has one of the most heart touching stories of courage, determination and powerful will to never give up. We have with us, a U.S Army veteran, Paralympic Silver Medalist and famous keynote speaker & Media personality, John Register. Sports was Josh's passion from the childhood but his life forever altered with one misstep over the hurdle. Just when he was at the peak of his career, when he seemed destined to compete as a member of the 1996 Olympic Team, in 1994 John suffered a serious injury due to which he had to lose one of his legs. Where most people could have broken down and gave up, John showed and extraordinary will to fight back. Never turned back from that point, John went on to create history, he earned the Silver medal in the long jump at the 2000 Paralympic Games and set the American long jump record in the process.  John's story is an inspiration to many, here in this interview; John Register will share his extraordinary life story in his own words. John talks about, from an Olympic track hopeful; after an injury, how he became a two-sport Paralympian. After a tremendous sporting career, John went on to become a successful keynote speaker and an entrepreneur. Today we have with us on the show Leevan Sands, a four-time Olympian and Olympic Bronze medalist. Sands had a remarkable sporting career where he competed in four Olympic Games in a row from 2004 to 2016, winning the bronze in the triple jump at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and took fifth place in the 2012 London Olympics. He is also a six-time World Championship finalist, winning bronze at the 2003 World Championships in Paris, France and won silver at the 2015 Pan American games in the triple jump. In this interview with Leevan Sands, we will talk about his journey of becoming a World class athlete. Sands tells about how his sporting career started at a very young age and how he went on to become one of the best track and field athletes from the Bahamas and a 13 time national champion. We talk about his time at Auburn University where he won the NCAA long jump in 2003 and triple jump title in 2004. While competing as a world class athlete he started mentoring and coaching younger athletes which is what he is doing full time now. He had a fabulous NFL career where he played with great teams like Jacksonville Jaguars, the Baltimore Ravens, the Buffalo Bills, and the Tennessee Titans. In this interview with Marques Ogden, we will talk about his childhood years, playing in the NFL, his entrepreneurial journey, and leadership lessons he learned along the way. We talk about his time at Howard University where he played Division I football. Marques will share his story about how he followed his dream and was drafted into the NFL in 2003. Our today's guest, Jamie Nieto is an American high jumper who represented US in two Olympic Games and many other international track & field events. Injuries are biggest nightmare of any athlete but unfortunately they are part and parcel in any sport. Just when he was at the peak of his career, in 2016 Jamie suffered a serious injury which left the two-time Olympic high jumper partially paralyzed from a spinal cord injury and unfortunately ended his career as a professional athlete. But from there his journey as a fighter began. Where most people could have accepted their faith, Jamie was determined to fight back and do whatever it takes to recover from his injury. In this interview with Jamie Nieto, he shares the painstaking journey to become an Olympic high jumper and the miraculous recovery he has been fighting since he got injured in 2016. Jamie discovered his love for track & field early in his life during his junior years in high school. He shares how he initially wanted to play Basketball but later became a professional high jumper. Athletes often speak about the power of mindset. But Jamie takes it to a higher level as he did the impossible on his wedding day. Despite doctors’ uncertainty whether he would ever walk again, Jamie walked and stood on his feet on his wedding day fulfilling his promise he made to her wife Jamaican hurdler Shevon Stoddart, whom we have also interviewed earlier on this channel. Having found success and disappointment in a sport measured in inches, Nieto understands better than most the challenge of willing one's body to realize its fullest potential. USA’s 2011 world 110m hurdle champion and our today's guest, Jason Richardson is one of the most profound and articulate athletes in the sport. Jason Richardson made a statement as one of the world's best by winning a World Outdoor title in 2011 and a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games. He was also a part of a 1-2 American sweep in London. Richardson turned professional in 2009 and elected to focus solely on the high hurdles. He also ran the intermediate hurdles in high school where he recorded the third-fastest high school time ever in the 400m hurdles. In this interview with Jason Richardson, we will talk about how he got into track & field despite his parents wanted him to focus on academics. Jason was not only a talented athlete but also a gifted scholar. He was involved with the debate team growing up and was awarded the McKissick Scholarship to attend University of South Carolina where he enrolled in sports and entertainment management. Reese is truly an elite athlete; she has proved time and again that she is still a force to be reckoned with.In this interview with Brittney Reese we will talk about her childhood and when she got into track & field. Today we have one of the most talented and experienced sprinters in the U.S., Mike Rodgers. The two-time World Championship medalist has been at the top of his sprinting for the last ten years, Mike has been dueling with some of the fastest men in history and he recently won a Gold Medal at 2019 World Championships, Doha. Mike has competed at various international events including Olympics, DecaNation and Pan American Games where he won medals in many events. In this podcast with athlete Mike Rodgers, we will talk about how he got into Track and Field, his time at Lindenwood University and Oklahoma Baptist University where he was a 10-time NAIA national champion from 2005 to 2007. In today's episode of The Homestretch w/Adrian Durant, we have the pleasure of having not only a talented athlete and an inspiring personality but also an entrepreneur and a business woman on the show, Track and Field High Jumper, Priscilla Frederick-Loomis. Priscilla is a 2015 Pan American Games Silver medalist, setting a new country High Jump record & becoming National Female Athlete of the Year in 2015, while finishing both seasons competing at the 2015 Outdoor World Championships in Beijing, China and 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Priscilla is now in training for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. While on this journey, she has been inducted into her High Schools Hall of Fame as well as the South Jersey Hall of Fame. She owns several businesses and is an Inspirational Speaker. But all this success doesn't came easy for Priscilla. She has faced more than her fair share of challenges. For Priscilla, along with the gruelling training regime, she also has to grind daily to secure the funds necessary to be able to compete that has drawn upon every facet of her entrepreneurial spirit. But that hasn't stopped the high jumper from doing everything it takes to make it to a second Olympics. Priscilla’s journey has been very different than most athletes and in this interview she wants to share her life story with those seeking motivation. In this podcast we talk about her early days, how she got into athletics and sports while initially she was inclined towards acting and drama. She shares her valuable insights on how an athlete can also be an entrepreneur and can be independent of sponsors and can manage their own funds like Priscilla did.
