We're back with updates on the case of Derek "Ritzy" Ritz, which we first discussed on the show in October of 2021. Ritzy is the only missing person in Stratford, Ontario, and has been missing for over six years, yet the local police department isn't giving his case any attention. But thanks to the determination of Ritzy's friends, and a private investigator from the organization 'Please Bring Me Home,' witnesses are finally beginning to come forward to confirm the rumours surrounding Ritzy's death. Ritzy deserves justice, and in order to get it, his case demands more attention from the police, and more witness testimony. This week marks seven years since the death of 16-year-old Kedarie Johnson in Burlington, Iowa. The teen was gender nonconforming and non-binary, and was murdered seemingly in response to that gender expression. The tiny town of Texarkana, which straddles the state line separating Texas from Arkansas, was tormented by a string of violent attacks in the 1940s. A mysterious assailant dubbed 'The Phantom Slayer' preyed upon young couples parked on lovers' lanes, sending Texarkana into a tailspin. Residents gripped by mass hysteria bought out all the door locks, window shades, and ammunition in town. By summer of 1946 the Phantom had faded away, but left an indelible mark on Texarkana as one of the earliest unsolved serial killer cases in America. For years in Salt Lake County, February 9th was a date fraught with nervous anticipation. After the slaying of 6-months-pregnant Sonia Mejia in 2006 and Damiana Castillo in 2008, a dedicated police task force patrolled the area in hopes of preventing a repeat killing in the years that followed. It wasn’t until 2016 that authorities revealed that they knew the identity of the so-called “February 9th Killer,” and the suspect was finally extradited back to Utah in 2022. On January 26th 2011,  27-year-old schoolteacher Ellen Rae Greenberg was found dead in the kitchen of her Philadelphia loft. Ellen's fiancé, Sam Goldberg, allegedly came home from the gym to find the door locked from the inside. When there was no answer from Ellen, Sam broke the door down and discovered her lifeless body inside, with a knife protruding from her chest. Ellen suffered a total of 20 stab wounds, half of which were delivered to the back of her neck and head. Curiously, Ellen's death was declared a suicide. For the past twelve years, Ellen's parents have been fighting for her case to be reopened and the designation of suicide to be removed from her record. Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah Whitehead grew up in a family that their counsellor says "thrives in chaos." The twins bounced back and forth between their mother and great-grandmother's houses while a generational power struggle simmered. By the time Jas and Tas were teenagers, they were sick of it. A heated argument at their mother's home in Conyers, Georgia escalated to a tragedy of epic proportions on January 13, 2014. Three years ago this week, Jocelyn Watt was found murdered in her home alongside her partner on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming.  Her mother and sister, Jade Wagon, became unexpected activists for MMIWG2S, but tragedy struck again when Jade disappeared almost a year to the day after her sister was murdered. Their mother, Nicole, found out first hand how frustrating it can be to deal with authorities during the investigation of the disappearance or unsolved murder of an indigenous woman as she fought for answers and justice for Jocelyn and Jade.
