We have spent a lot of time on this show talking about what brings furries into the fandom. But that would mean nothing if they left immediately after. Fortunately, that isn't the case; furries tend to stay around in the fandom for a long time, many for their entire lives! In this episode, we explain why furries hang around in the fandom for so long, and explore what the fandom itself provides to its members to increase its staying power!Follow Me On Twitter for Updates and Info about the Show: @FinnThePantherSources and Stuff to Check Out:FurScience: Furry MotivationEnjoy the show? If you have taken a look at the attendance numbers of furry conventions recently, you would have noticed quite the jump in attendance numbers, especially since 2019. And that follows a trend of the fandom experiencing quite a bit of growth over the past few years. In this episode, we explain where this growth is coming from and why such a large jump in fandom participation is, in some ways, quite unexpected!Follow Me On Twitter for Updates and Info about the Show: @FinnThePantherSources and Stuff to Check Out:FurScience: Fandom TrajectoryEnjoy the show? The end goal for a vast majority of members of the furry fandom is to make friends with their fellow fandom members. But trying to make friends in any social space is difficult and since the journey is different for everyone, trying to make a guide for any furry to follow to make friends is quite futile. However, one piece of the friend-making puzzle is finding other common interests or hobbies that other furries have. On this episode, we take a look at some of the other things that furries like to do outside of being a furry, in an effort to help strike up a conversation with another furry and maybe even become their friend! The furry fandom is a pretty cool place to be, and I'm sure many members of the community would agree. But, like any group of humans, it's not perfect, and in order to help fix some of its flaws, it's important to identity what those flaws are in the first place. In this episode, we take a more critical look at the furry fandom and explain some of the more common issues that this community faces and explore some steps on how they can be mitigated.Follow Me On Twitter for Updates and Info about the Show: @FinnThePantherSources and Stuff to Check Out:FurScience: Most Contentious Fandom IssuesEnjoy the show? As a hobby, being a furry is weird. It might be something that someone engages with a lot, but might not want to tell everyone about up front, especially if that includes their parents, guardians, or primary caretakers. But it's hard to hide something this all-encompassing and those in charge of raising you are going to find out and potentially want to learn more. On this episode, we take a look at how to best explain to your parents or equivalent figures about the wonderful furry fandom, while still keeping the community, and yourself, in the best light!Follow Me On Twitter for Updates and Info about the Show: @FinnThePantherSources and Stuff to Check Out:Pocari Roo: How to Tell Friends and Family You're a Furry!Ask Papa Bear: 10-Year-Old Furry is Afraid to Tell ParentsFurscience: Furry Resources for ParentsEnjoy the show? As someone who travels pretty frequently, I can sometimes forget how complicated the process of attending a furry convention. There's a lot of things to keep track of, and even if you have the basic pitfalls accounted for, there are still some unexpected struggles of attending a con that not figuring out can break an otherwise fantastic event. I've fallen victim to some of the struggles at some of the cons I've been through, but that also gives me a chance to talk about them here, in an effort to have you avoid them yourself. And on this episode, we do exactly that!Follow Me On Twitter for Updates and Info about the Show: @FinnThePantherSources and Stuff to Check Out:Thank you for checking out the show! iTunes/Apple Podcast listeners: make sure to leave a rating and review! What is Furry Bait

What is Furry Bait

Nick Wilde. Legoshi. Lucario. What is the one thing that ties these anthropomorphic animal characters together? Many in the fandom would describe those characters as "furry bait." On this episode, we give an official definition of furry bait, and explore if the creators of such bait do it on purpose, or if it's all in the heads of furries across the fandom.Follow Me On Twitter for Updates and Info about the Show: @FinnThePantherSources and Stuff to Check Out:Soren Sky: What is Furbait?Artemis Wishfoot: The Perfect Furry BaitSolarSaber: Characters that are Furry BaitThank you for checking out the show! iTunes/Apple Podcast listeners: make sure to leave a rating and review! As 2022 comes to a close, so does Finn's second year being an active member of the furry fandom! It's been a wondrous time, but it hasn't been perfect, and there are some key things that could have gone a lot better in hindsight, things that Finn would have done differently if given a second chance. In this final episode of the year, we take a look back at those two years and unpack what changes Finn would make if he could start over in the furry fandom!Follow Me On Twitter for Updates and Info about the Show: @FinnThePantherThank you for checking out the show! iTunes/Apple Podcast listeners: make sure to leave a rating and review! It's no secret that there's a lot of younger members in the furry fandom. Despite the age of the fandom itself, most people that you'll find in the community will be in their mid to late teens. But what happens when you grow older? Do you grow out of being a furry, or even pushed out? On this episode, we find out if you can be too old to be a furry, and, as is all too common with this show, you might be surprised at what the statistics say about it...Follow Me On Twitter for Updates and Info about the Show: @FinnThePantherSources and Stuff to Check Out:FurScience: Age and Ageism in the FandomWikipedia: Sociological Aspects of the Furry FandomFurScience: Furry Fandom AgesThank you for checking out the show! iTunes/Apple Podcast listeners: make sure to leave a rating and review! Do Furries Roleplay

Do Furries Roleplay

2022-10-2714:27

One of the finer details about being a part of the furry fandom involves quite a lot of world building. Furries come up with complex and detailed characters or fursonas and use them to interact with them in what is essentially an entirely fan-created universe filled with anthropomorphic animals. It's no surprise then that you might think of furries just being a bunch of specialized role-players, and while that is true on the surface, how furries truly interact with one another create much more "real" experiences than you might think.Follow Me On Twitter for Updates and Info about the Show: @FinnThePantherSources and Stuff to Check Out:Furscience: RoleplayingThank you for checking out the show! iTunes/Apple Podcast listeners: make sure to leave a rating and review!
