ProfitDig's Jeff Spencer and Jeff Givens talk about power quality. As Jeff Givens explains, the U.S. is divided into three major grids, and generation of power is based on the demand by homes and businesses within those grids. Generated power has to align with the demands on the grid. Non-linear sources of power for drives, motors and electrical equipment wreak havoc on the quality of power that comes into your home or business. When companies sign an agreement with a particular energy provider, they have expectations with regard to the quality of power coming into their locations. Different municipalities will have different power requirements as well. Poor power quality can cause damage to your equipment, so having a better understanding of your power needs will help you maintain that equipment. From ProfitDig - easy job bidding and costing for #construction contractors. In years past, safety requirements were not so strictly enforced, but these days, OSHA is strict about enforcing those rules, and most companies take pride in keeping their employees safe. That is good news for employees, but from a job bidding standpoint, safety compliance must be accounted for in your bids. When you sign on to perform work for a General Contractor, you become part of that company. Every GC has a safety program, and you must abide by the GC's requirements in addition to OSHA. Often the GC's requirements will be even more strict than OSHA. You will likely have to have your crews go through jobsite-specific training with the GC. That time costs you money, so you need to cover it in your bids.Brought to you by ProfitDig - easy job bidding and costing for construction contractors.
