With live performances and gigs landing on the schedule, new students and summer camps filling the void, a revamp of the podcast is in order.  The Renaissance Drummer Podcast will become a monthly podcast, recapping the previous month's events, publicizing the upcoming month's schedule, bringing on multiple guests and playing the sounds of excitement from the field.  We are reaching a sense of normalcy in the music world, but there's a lot of transitioning to come and we all need to support each other in this endeavor.
Live music is back!!! I'm cautiously optimistic about the upcoming events in May, June and July.  Check out the the dates.  Come support Bristol County Fifes and Drums, St Edmund's Pipes and Drums and any music group in your area!
Come experience Drums Alive at the American Drum Co.  Join me and special guest, Ashley Field, as we talk drumming and fitness for all ages and abilities.
With Mother's Day upon us, it only seemed appropriate to celebrate every drummers' #1 Fan...Mom.  I'm joined by two Band Moms, Laura McManus and Kristie Puster, both in different parts of their journeys as they play the most pivotal role in their young drummer's life...Band Mom.
For two months out of the year, talented and diverse drummers can make serious money working in musicals.  Musical Season can test your range, abilities and professionalism, learning entire two act plays in three weeks.  Lily Jeswald joins me to talk musicals, how they've adapted during the pandemic and what we can expect to come.
On this episode, Michelle and I talk about teaching in a studio, quarantine and how it has effected the teaching landscape.  You're never TOO YOUNG, nor TOO OLD, to learn a musical instrument.  The key is to keep striving for more...
Good pipe bands play well in their sections.  The pipes are tuned well, fingers are flying, the snare line sounds crisp, the bass is holding it down, tenor drums are flourishing.  A GREAT pipe band knows what's going on on the other side of the circle.  Join me as I talk with Colleen Sokolowski, Pipe Major of St Edmund's Pipes and Drums, about working towards great ensemble work both with the pipers and the drummers.
What should graduating Seniors expect when entering a collegiate level concert band or orchestra?  Simply put...go in with confidence.  This week's guest, Peter Davis, Director of Musical ensembles at Salve Regina University, and I dive into the general expectations and ease some of the stress and anxiety that comes with this transition.
I am featuring a new subsegment, What to Expect. This subsegment will feature guests that represent the next level in any musical journey.  We will feature college professors, high school and middle  band directors, pipe band judges...a multitude of personalities that can ease your stress and fears, comfort you with anecdotes and encourage you to progress to the next level.  This week's guest speaks to the graduating high school seniors, what to expect at the college level, and why you should just do it!!!
St Patrick's Day, among other holidays, have more then one parade for pipe bands, fife and drum corps and many other nonprofit groups to march in and earn the revenue to thrive as a musical group.  I talk with Andrew Adams about the trials of lacking a "parade season," what bands are doing during this difficult time and how you can help.
Follow my journey through the art of drum kit, the trials and triumphs.  Featuring music by past and current bands, Bubblegum Villains and Weird Dad.
Does your drum line lack motivation in March?  Do you feel your chops slipping in May?  Welcome Brendan Mason, Drum Instructor in the newly formed American Drum Co, to discuss off-season Marching Drum Line, the hurdles and motivation of marching percussion in the cold winter months.
Want to teach music but not sure WHERE to start?  If you're a teacher or believe you have what it takes to become a great teacher, knowing where to teach can be a daunting task.  Do you start in a music studio?  Maybe its better to start in a home studio...or take my talents on the road and travel to my student's homes.  Do I even think of teaching online?  These are all great platforms.  The real question...which one is the right one for you?  This week's guests are Tom and Karissa Evans, Owners and co-Founders of The American Drum Co., a music studio specializing in drum instruction.
