With a staff of forensic registered nurses available 24/7, Enloe ensures anyone who is sexually assaulted or abused has access to forensic medical exams. In this episode, host Sharon Martin talks to Jacqueline Winters-Hall, Coordinator of Enloe's Sexual Assault Forensic Examination program, and Monica O’Neil, Chief of Butte County's Victim Assistance Bureau, about the critical resources available to survivors across the community.
A third of adults in the United States reportedly get less than the recommended amount of sleep. A consistent lack of sleep has consequences. Being sleep deprived can increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and depression, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Sleeping well is not only for comfort, but it’s essential for good physical and mental health. Host Daniela Contreras and Enloe Physical Therapist Alexa Janicki go over the importance of sleep and ways to improve your slumber.
This year, regions across the United States have seen a significant increase in respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, cases. While this respiratory virus typically causes mild, cold-like symptoms, RSV can be serious for both infants and older adults. Locally, Enloe Medical Center has seen a similar increase in RSV cases and admissions to the medical center. Host Suzie Lawry-Hall and Amy Dolinar, Enloe’s Director of Children Services, break down RSV, including causes, symptoms, and the impact it is currently having on our community. 
Host Suzie Lawry-Hall explores loss as she sits down with Katy Herman, a mom who gave birth to a stillborn baby boy last year. The experience changed her family forever and made them part of a group we don’t often hear about: families who have lost babies due to a miscarriage or stillbirth. It’s a tragic reality — and one that affects about 1 in every 160 births, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Katy and her husband, Brian, share their experience to help families heal. Erin Parisio, a nurse in Enloe’s Labor & Delivery department who helps families through these heart-breaking situations, joins the discussion. They’ll go over loss, reasons these outcomes occur, resources families can turn to and more.
Host Suzie Lawry-Hall explores dementia. She sits down with Olivia, whose aging mother suffers from Alzheimer’s disease — a condition that affects 6 million Americans, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. They discuss the disease and how it’s impacted the family. Host Suzie Lawry-Hall explores a new way Enloe Medical Center is caring for substance-exposed newborns. Our Nettleton Mother & Baby Care Center team is incorporating a model called Eat, Sleep & Console to help babies work through withdrawal from substance exposure during pregnancy. With the North State not being immune to the nation’s opioid epidemic, this method of care is having a big impact on infants, moms and families in our community. Host Suzie Lawry-Hall explores group prenatal care — a new approach at Enloe Women’s Services. Found to reduce the risk of preterm labor, the sessions aim to help empower moms by teaching them what to expect during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period, giving them access to a caregiver, and connecting them with other moms-to-be. Mom Kinsey Winslow, a recent participant, shares her experience. Sasha Watts, a Certified Nurse Midwife at Enloe, joins to discuss who can benefit from the program, the research that supports it and more.

The women share their experiences in hopes of changing that and helping others.
