If you are curious about working with me one on one, I work with individuals, athletes, and couples from all over the world. Head over to www.nicobarraza.com to inquire more. This week's guest is Anjelica Marsh. She is a school counselor who was a collegiate softball player that had a ankle injury that led her to a surgeon that would change her life forever.Unfortunately there are just as many mistakes in medicine as there are healings. Anjelica shares her personal story of how a botched surgery changed her life and left her in chronic pain. I share my own story too and together we chat about the difficulties of living in chronic pain and navigating the medical mal practice legal system, as well as being your own best advocate in a healthcare scenario. Here is a link to the article that I stumbled upon that made me want to interview Anjelica on the show http://anjelicasmoments.org/2020/04/13/to-the-doctor-who-ruined-my-life/Here are a few more writings of hers http://anjelicasmoments.org/2017/12/23/trapped/ http://anjelicasmoments.org/2021/12/31/ill-be-okay/For many people who suffer from chronic pain it can feel like you are trapped in a jail cell in your own body. Especially when the pain was caused by the same system that should be alleviating physical pain. I hope this episode gives you some sense of community and leaves you feeling connected, seen, and not alone.I hope you find the answers you need to feel better and to feel at peace.Warmly,Nico Barraza@FeedTheSoulNBwww.nicobarraza.com

So you can finally feel like the best version of yourself. And live life with more presence and calm.Through a functional medicine approach, we’ll address the root causes of your symptoms, so you have less anxiety, more energy, greater focus and clarity, improved digestion. Holistic health is whole-person health and in our work together, we’ll address every aspect of your wellness from the food you eat, to your daily routine, to how you navigate sleep and stress to how your thoughts affect your digestion. You will finally feel like YOU. To learn more about Jillian Tuchman head over to her website https://www.workyourgenes.com/You can also register for her new group program, FROM SHIT TO SHINING. You can connect with him on his website https://www.coryreese.com/home and purchase his books here https://www.amazon.com/Stronger-Than-Dark-Relationship-Depression/dp/1736966405/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1623181555&sr=8-1Hi. My name is Cory. I am a…well…it’s complicated. I am a husband. I am a dad to three teenagers. I am the owner of a Great Dane named Little Debbie who loves nothing more than to steal pizza off the kitchen counter. Wait. There is so much more to me. I am a Kia Sorento driver. A CPAP wearer. A Utah Jazz fan. A child of a father who took his life. An ally. An ex-Mormon. A terrible handyman. A recovering Twinkie addict. A snow hater and a sun lover. A composer of piano music. A believer that good things are coming. I am afraid of needles. Obsessed with Bruce Springsteen. Fierce in my distaste for seafood. Proud of myself for memorizing every line of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. I am an ultramarathon runner. I’ve run dozens of 100-mile races. Badwater. Western States. Wasatch. 100 miles around a high school track. 100 miles around the deck of a cruise ship. I’ve fallen in love with the sense of satisfaction that comes from seeing what I’m capable of, and realizing that it’s usually more than I think. I am an author. I’ve written for a bunch of publications over the years, and am currently a columnist for UltraRunning Magazine. I’ve written a few books titled Nowhere Near First, and Into the Furnace. My new book is called Stronger Than the Dark, and explores the intimate relationship between running and depression. I want to be like David Sedaris when I grow up. I am a social worker. For two decades, my career has involved walking with people into the darkness, and talking about hard things. My occupation: aspiring beam of light. I know people all around me are fighting silent battles. I have been the one providing therapy, and the one receiving it. I am passionate about advocating for mental health. Wait. There is so much more to me. Those are the labels that define me. But I am more than a list of labels. I am enthusiasm. I am determination. I am broken. I am whole. I am light. I am adventure. I am creativity. I am love. I am enough.Warmly,Nico Barraza@FeedTheSoulNBwww.nicobarraza.com

Register today for $50 off and reserve your spot by clicking this link https://www.nicobarraza.com/grieflosscourseTo work with me one on one head over to www.nicobarraza.com and book a free  15min Zoom consultation today.A little bit about the course:Navigating Grief & Loss CourseNo one makes it through life without experiencing loss and grief. As soon as you are born, you are already dying. Yet, how we choose to live and embrace life and loss is closely related to our familial, societal, and cultural understanding of loss and death. How we conceptualize and process grief matters. We live in a culture that avoids talking about death and processing grief. Instead we are taught to numb, avoid, run, self-loathe, or hide in resentment instead of taking the deep dive into our grief and processing the pain. It’s time to change that. This course will help you no matter where you are in your journey with grief and loss.Warmly,Nico Barraza@FeedTheSoulNBwww.nicobarraza.com

Genny and I talk about how she got into the work she does, about why learning to manage your emotions is essential for building healthy relationships and why your emotional inheritance is something you need to understand in order to be able to be the best possible friend, partner, parent, co-worker you can be.You can find Genny via her website https://theeqschool.co/meet-genny and via Instagram https://www.instagram.com/theeqschool/Genny's bio: I’m Genny, the creator and primary facilitator of The EQ School. I’ve spent the last 15 years or so enthralled in personal development work, and have combined all my resources to help other people become their best and most beloved selves.I started my career as an educator and have a BS in Education, an MA in Literature, and another masters in Design Leadership. I currently sit on the board of Acknowledge Alliance, a nonprofit in Mountain View, CA that brings social workers into school systems to help children with Social Emotional learning (and they support the teachers, too!). They’re a rad organization, and you should check them out!I’m passionate about increasing the importance and fluency of emotional intelligence in our society and communities. The better we know and love ourselves and develop our emotional literacy, the richer our lives become in every aspect. Some other random stuff:I live in Portland, Oregon and could totally be a character on Portlandia (where's the life coach episode?) Feminist, vegetarian, mason jars, dumpster diver, brunch enthusiast...all of the above.I also run workshops on Culture Design - helping corporate teams design healthy cultures that benefit both the individual and the organization (send a message if you’re interested!)I'm really good at parallel parking. I once parallel-parked a mini-bus full of 16 year olds (first try!) into a tiny space on a crowded street in downtown Martha's Vineyard during the summer, and got a standing ovation from the TEENAGERS. It was one of my prouder moments.I've lived in England, Germany, and Stockholm, Sweden for awhile, but (shhh) Swedish culture is my favorite! Fika, anyone?I once pooped my pants while training for a marathon. Not one of my prouder moments, but hey, shit happens. I love to learn. I’ve attended an endless list of other educational trainings; Co-active [Coaching] Training Institute, Portland Code School, UX Night School, and EFT Training to name a few! I care a lot about social justice, my wonderful dog, the health of our planet, and I friggin' love the outdoors.I sleep with my socks on. I’ve been told that makes me an alien.I've also been told my strengths are my strong sense of empathy, being brave & action-oriented, and knowing how to make my sister laugh.Warmly,Nico Barraza@FeedTheSoulNBwww.nicobarraza.com
