We all know him as the charismatic host of LOVE + RELO, but Ben Cross is so much more than that?  Like so many others, he has dived into entrepreneurship – forming GLOMO which offers consultancy, recruitment, and M&A services to global mobility companies. Growing his company RELO in a short timeframe, Ben along with his team of six, are at the forefront of current global mobility trends, advising their clients, and in this Take 5 episode takes us through his thoughts as to why more people are opting out of traditional work arrangements and entering a new phase of entrepreneurship , the way people look at work will be forever be changed and what recruiters need to look for to find talent who are willing to go into an office.
Dr. Sean Gallagher is Director of the Centre for the New Workforce at Swinburne University of Technology and one of Australia’s leading experts on the future of work. Following on from Sean’s fascinating insights in our December 2021 episode, he now brings us a Take 5 update on the latest developments in hybrid working and the challenges facing organisations.  Explained simply in a few slides, this episode is a ‘must’ for leaders to understand what hybrid working is doing to particular aspects of their business.

Dr Elora Voyles (PhD) is an Industrial Organizational Psychologist and People Scientist at TINYpulse (by Limeade) in San Diego, USA.  With an emphasis on research and application, Elora’s skills and experience include teaching, training, survey design, statistical analysis, job analysis, performance management, recruiting and selection, leadership, and employee appraisal. With TINYpulse (by Limeade), Elora has recently undertaken a study with over 500 HR professionals and leaders as well as 474 employees around the world:  State of Employee Engagement and Trends for 2021 and Predictions for 2022.  Since the beginning of the pandemic and the great migration to work-from-home, the landscape of work has been permanently altered – the survey offers insights into the changing world of work and Elora brings those findings to our discussion. In addition to Elora’s research, she has also had articles published including the recent ‘The Zoom Ceiling is the new Glass Ceiling’, and has been interviewed on topics including the unexpected consequences for workers who opt to work remotely. Our discussion with Elora covered findings of recent research and provides our listeners with a very interesting insight into understanding the expectations that office workers now have in regards to their work arrangements.

Dr. Sean Gallagher is one of Australia’s leading experts on the future of work. He works with leaders to help their businesses effectively leverage their workers in the digital economy and disrupted environments. This leads to improved complex problem solving, new idea generation and enhanced growth and impact. Based on national surveys of Australian workers, the twin reports “Peak Human Potential” (2019) and “Peak Human Workplace” (2021) set out how organisations can create value in the digital economy through reimagining work as a pathway to innovation. Both reports have been widely endorsed, including by APEC, Engineers Australia, TAFE Directors Australia. His research helps shape policy outcomes, including the Victorian Government Inquiry into the On-Demand Economy.This year Sean has undertaken a comprehensive research study and released a report entitled ‘Hybrid working 2.0: Humanising the office’.  The report reveals insights on the flexible working experiences of white-collar workers and what the office could look like in the future.  Conducted in August during the second year of the pandemic, the survey also reveals how we’re currently balancing work across physical and virtual domains, the rise of flexible working, and the perceived purpose and importance of the physical office in a hybrid working future.Our discussion with Sean covered the findings of the report and provides a very interesting insight into understanding the expectations that office workers now have in regards to their work arrangements.
