Alright, first formal post in a while. This episode marks what is intended to be a sort of soft reboot for the podcast, and I think I’ve finally kind of got the type of content I want to provide honed in as well as how I approach the show.I’m treading into some deeper territory and getting a bit more clinical than I have in the past, as I touch on the concepts of core values and cognitive distortions and how they can show up in the context of tattooing. A lot of this comes from my own history and personal examples that I’ll be sharing, so hopefully we aren’t getting so clinical as to be boring here. As I’ve said before several times, I am not a therapist or counselor and this show isn’t intended to replace either of those things, but I do think I can safely say I am more educated on these matters than the average person without any experience or knowledge in the world of mental health, so hopefully I am able to provide something of value here.Thank you as always, enjoy and have a great rest of your day!https://www.instagram.com/mistyeyedmikeHttps://www.instagram.com/aftercarepodcastVenmo: @aftercarepodcasthttps://cbtthoughtdiary.com/https://bloombetteryou.com/https://www.dummies.com/article/body-mind-spirit/emotional-health-psychology/psychology/cognitive-behavioral-therapy/core-beliefs-and-cognitive-behavioural-therapy-267188/https://www.umb.edu.pl/photo/pliki/WNoZ_jednostki/wnoz-studium-filozofii-i-psychologii/materialy_z_zajec/materialy_z_zajec_2019-20_fakultet:_wprowadzenie_do_terapii_psych_3_rok_lekarski/class_9_on_identifying_core_beliefs__polish_cbt.pdf
Hey there. I’m going to stay brief with this description, because I feel you really need to listen to this episode to get the most out of it, and if you listen to no other episode of this show, I recommend you try this one. I was lucky to be joined by Robert Ryan for one of my favorite conversations I’ve had the joy of taping for the podcast in this episode. Join us as we discuss everything from right livelihood to ayahuasca to mindfulness in the tattoo shop setting. Thank you for listening.-MikeYou can find Robert at  Electric Tattoo in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Hey everyone! It’s great to be back. This episode features the powerful straightedge world traveling scab dealing extraordinaire Beau Brady. I’m certain he will be appreciative of the bestowment of this title.Beau is just a solid person and a killer tattooer, and his travel experience is something I think is just really cool and makes for a really interesting discussion. Travel is, in my opinion, one of the greatest gifts that being a tattooer has to offer. There’s just no replacement for the experience of working alongside different people and seeing how interconnected and big the world of tattoo really is.I hope you enjoy listening to this conversation and that you get something out of it if you do guest spots or travel working, even if you don’t often or never have, hopefully it motivates you to give it a shot! Thanks for listening, talk soon!-MikeYou can find Beau on Instagram at www.Instagram.com/beauxbrady or tattooing when not on the road at Port City Tattoo in Costa Mesa, California. You can find me on Instagram at www.Instagram.com/mistyeyedmike or alternatively at www.Instagram.com/aftercarepodcast. Hey, it’s been a while! I’m happy to be back. This episode features Tamara Santibañez, who is an incredible artist, author, and thinker that I was privileged to speak with. We discuss their book “Could This Be Magic? Tattooing as Liberation Work”, our own feelings, the social ramifications of tattooing and certain common thought patterns within the industry, and more. This is easily one of my favorite talks I’ve been able to put together, and I hope you enjoy listening!Thank you so much, I’ll catch ya later!Contact:www.Instagram.com/tamarasantibanezwww.afterlifepress.comwww.Instagram.com/aftercarepodcastwww.Instagram.com/mistyeyedmikeTattoos.mikeboyd@gmail.comVenmo: @aftercarepodcast
Welcome back again! This episode features Megan Wilson (@ladywilson.tattoo) and Tay (@death_by_a_1000_serifs) who work together on a tattoo and art project called @sigil.contemporaryThis is a unique dynamic I haven’t had the chance of seeing until finding their work, and after talking to them, obviously filled with love and positive intent. I hope you enjoy hearing about their approach to tattooing and the healing power of this craft. Thanks for listening!
Welcome back to another week of Aftercare! This episode I tried to take a slightly different approach and talk with a client instead of a tattooer. I had a lot of fun talking with Jeremy and would love to do this again in the future!I hope you enjoy listening, see you again soon!
Hey there! Thanks for tuning back in today! This week’s episode centers largely on social media use and how it relates to our day to day lives as tattooers and really, as people. Jason and I also touch on several other subjects and overall just have a great conversation. I think there’s something for everyone to be gained from this one, tattooer or not, and I greatly appreciate your time! Thanks for listening!
Hey, hope everyone is doing well. This is just a short mini episode to tell you why you haven’t heard an episode in a few weeks and some self-reflection, as well as some future plans for how I will be approaching the show. I hope you enjoy, see you very soon!
Hello again! This week’s talk was with Shannon and Chelsea from Ophidian Tattoo in Columbia, South Carolina.I really appreciated this discussion, because I was able to hear and discuss a perspective so different from my own usual point of view. I came out feeling a bit brighter and more insightful, and I think many of you will too. We covered a ton of topics, from opening a tattoo shop, dealing with trauma, staying fit, and self care. I’m sure you can find something useful in there! Thanks for hanging out with us, I’ll see you again soon!
What’s up! Hope everyone has had a great week.I sat down not too long ago with my buddy Darcy and we talked about what it’s like to be a parent in this wild world of tattooing, European artists who are better than us, and some other fun stuff. What kind of stuff? Well, I guess you’ll just have to click play and find out! Thanks for hanging out, see you soon!
Hey, thanks for joining me again!I was able to have a nice talk with Tom Michael (@uglytom for you Instagram heathens), and I had a great time! Tom has a lot of valuable and great perspectives in his experience tattooing, and I hope we have a chance to catch up again on the show because I’m sure we could have gone on for quite a bit longer if we’d had time. I hope you’ll enjoy listening!Still working through some audio and formatting stuff, but I think you will notice a stark improvement from the introduction episode. Thanks for sticking with me as I learn my way around all this. Chat with ya soon!

Thanks for joining me as we chat and explore mental health, primarily within tattooing, but also within other alternative art forms such as music, photography, skate culture, and graffiti!First things first...I apologize for the poor audio quality of this first episode. I recorded this with nothing but my iPad and have since upgraded and am continuing to drastically update my gear.Luckily for you, this episode is short and sweet! The goal of this show is learning a bit about how to communicate with others and ourselves, as well as ways to deal with stresses and pains in our own lives, and have some fun along the way. This first episode mainly serves as a way to introduce myself to you, as well as provide a brief overview of the themes and goals of the show so you know what to expect.
