Description

Virtual Voices was born in a time of need to connect with our community. Throughout the pandemic it gave us lifting stories, helped us get to know each other and provided support for others as we navigated uncertain times. The time for change is good as we pivot to a new journey for Virtual Voices as we change the podcast! We all have those moments in life where something changes and we will never be the same again. These hinge moments can be spiritual turning points, relationships that are transformative, and sometimes tragedies that change us forever. We also have endeavors and dreams and hopes for our future. When we look towards the horizon, we move towards what is next. Hinges and Horizons will focus on the stories of people…the hinge moments and the horizons.

On this episode of Hinges and Horizons, we connect with Andy Schletz and how surgery on his spine forced him to lie still for 40 hours. Thinking about his grandfather and a former patient of his who had served in World War II, impacted the type of person he wanted to be when he left the hospital. After 15+ years, this hinge moment is still having an impact on Andy's life. Enjoy!
In this episode of Hinges and Horizons, we connect with Kelly Davis, a longtime member of The Well who has done just about everything at the church. Kelly shares about two hinge moments in her life when she lost two people close to her. In those moments of deep loss and pain, she experienced God's presence and God's love as she moved closer towards trust and gratitude.
Welcome to Episode 3 of Hinges and Horizons. In this episode we connect with Cynthia Williams, the district superintendent of the River Valley District of the Minnesota Annual Conference. During a recent 8 week renewal time, Cynthia was able to reconnect with how her body was calling upon her to rest. And in rest, she was able to recover the joy of worship and the passion for building God's Kingdom. Cynthia started to see her body as a collaborator and not a conspirator. Enjoy this wonderful conversation.
Cindy Gregorson is the Director of Connectional Ministries and Clergy Assistant to the Bishop for the Minnesota Annual Conference of the UMC. And in this episode, she shares a hinge moment (a change moment), when cancer upended her world. Not only did her body go through a traumatic event, but her emotional and spiritual health were impacted as well. This moment has also propelled her into her horizon and living each day with meaning and purpose. I know you will be encouraged and challenged by her story!
In this inaugural episode of Hinges and Horizons, we sit down with Catie Levenick, the Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry at The Well, a United Methodist Church. Her honesty and insight are inspirational as she shares about a hinge moment as a young parent. And her quote about this hinge moment still 'working on her' is exactly that type of moment that we hope to capture on this podcast.
