Description

Two dudes talking about stuff that impacts daily life. We're not trying to create world peace, bridge the political divide, or save the world. We just want to discuss things to make it easier for the average christian to navigate today's world. In short, learning to be the salt of the earth by having a more firm foundation on our rock. We are Salt. Christ is our Rock. This is Salt + Rock.

We pick up this episode with Samson hiding in a cave after a huge victory (nope, that's accurate.) We get to see his own people turn against him, God give him another big W, a little "flair for the dramatic" when he's parched, sex, demolition, love & more sex, betrayal, and more. We also see through Samson's "Stadium Tour" how often our restoration only comes through our sacrifice. ***Note*** this episode does contain adult undertones (sex-talk and death), so even though it may not actually be "explicit" we tagged it that way to keep younger listeners protected. Thanks for checking out Salt + Rock. This week we conclude our conversation about Jonah. We pick up as Jonah arrives in Ninevah & we decide it's probably as large as any of the largest cities in the US. We see the citizens and king of Ninevah display true repentance, and God chooses to spare them. We relate Jonah's reaction to today's world, and our call for justice, not grace. God uses multiple avenues to prove to Jonah, and us, that he is love, and wants to have a relationship with us. We also see a clear picture of God as a provider. Thanks for checking out Salt + Rock. In part 1 of the story of Jonah, we look into how we often avoid answering a call from God, there's always an easy way to run, how God shows he is persistent, and finally, our repentance and returning to God's calling on our lives. We take a dive into whether we think this story is factual or not, and what lead us to believe the way we do. We also discuss the physiology of what was going on before Jonah is swallowed by the fish. Thanks for checking out Salt + Rock. We'd love to hear from you. In our conclusion of Aaron, we see two strong qualities of an Ally. Obedience and Support. Support doesn't always mean drawing your sword. It can be having someone's back or showing empathy. We also see how Aaron sets up his lineage to continue as priests and high priests of the tabernacle. Even though Aaron has to face consequences of the times he is disobedient, he and his future generations are called and blessed by God for how often he was obedient. Thanks for checking out Salt + Rock. We are joined by Rich Gorecki, author of www.god-buddies.com as we discuss the parallels between Paul & Timothy, why Timothy was circumcised when Titus was not, the importance of having a faithful mother, and the idea that we should all have these 3 relationships: a mentor, a peer, and someone to pass on our legacy to. Feel free to reach out to Rich at rich@god-buddies.comThanks for checking out Salt + Rock. We pick back up with Paul back in Tarsus. Things we learn: Paul's (new) reputation precedes him, (more) anger, church planting, Paul's new haircut & diet, Paul's roots in the Pentecostal church, shipwrecks and assassination attempts, the length of time spent while on mission journeys 2 & 3, and how being from Roman descent affected the end of Paul's life. In the final chapters of Paul's life, we also see a parallel to Jesus' life, and how an earthly citizenship compares to becoming a citizen of heaven.Note: This episode FLIES through a TON of information really quickly.
