In this episode, I talk about ways to include literacy skills skills in other content areas such as math, science, social studies, and humanities while at home. Cross-curricular literacy skills means that kids are using their literacy skills in a variety of contexts and content areas. While this can be done in school, it also can be done at home, or with family. Visualizing the text means creating a mental picture of the text and experiencing it for yourself. Join me in this podcast to discuss ways to practice visualizing the text and gain a better understanding of what visualizing the text really means. 
In this podcast, I discuss how to teach your child to make inferences when reading a text. Making inferences is a skill that takes some time for many kiddos to learn and this podcast will walk you through what making an inference means and how to teach your child to make inferences. 
Analyzing main idea is one thing that students struggle with the most. When reading a non-fiction text, being able to analyze main idea shows comprehension of a text and helps a student to better understand the text.
