Description

A show all about Formula 1 from a non-technical perspective. Hosted by two dedicated Formula 1 fans, the goal is to share what we enjoy about the sport while consuming a few beverages. Fast cars, drama, team dynamics, conflicts within and across teams, money, power, history...we cover it all in short 30 to 40-minute episodes from our home position (with a not-so-secret ambition to be in the press pit someday). The more we learn the more we enjoy Formula 1... come ride with us!

Races in the Netherlands and Monza went by with an expected result. Marissa Troy helped us review the different designs of helmet and liveries that were used in a new episode of Wicked Design. The drivers' championship has a clear winner with several races to go. The constructors' championship is a more competitive race. The teams are working on securing lineups for next year and we finally know what went down with Alpine and Piastri.
The summer break is over and we are finally racing again. Ferrari continues with the tactical mistakes while RedBull looks stronger than ever. Is the Driver's Championship over? The Constructors championship is a bit more competitive but still with a clear leader. The midfield battle heats up and the silly season will spill into the second part of the racing calendar with several seats yet to be announced. We are so glad to be back!
After Hungary the teams get a much deserved summer break. The good thing (for us) is ... summer break is the start of silly season, and very silly it has been so far! A star retires, a veteran takes the spot and leaves an open space, a future star gets a seat but he doesn't want it (?!). This is a crazy game of musical chairs, which is very entertaining. Though we would prefer races to keep us awake on weekends.
The Austrian Grand Prix did not disappoint. The roller coaster track was fast paced and delivered great racing action. Ferrari won but one of their engines exploded. Red Bull lost a car and "good luck" kept them in 2nd place. Haas is looking amazing and contending in the midfield. Mercedes continues its consistent run and they are looking more competitive each race. Next week we are going to France!
Silverstone 2022 delivered the best GP of the year (so far). everything you can imagine in a F1 race happened. Scary accidents, great racing, breakdowns, good and bad strategy calls, a maiden win for Sainz, points for Schumacher and Hass...this is a race that will remain in the memory of many. Did Ferrari mess up once again? Is Leclerc not getting the support he needs from his team? Has RedBull become the team to beat? Is Mercedes coming back?
Checo Perez swooped in and bagged the coveted Monaco GP victory this year after driving a flawless race. Red Bull out-strategized Ferrari and Leclerc fell from first to fourth after a series of blunders in the pits - an apparent continuation of his curse at home. The rest of the race was mostly a procession with only 5 overtakes in the entire race, and an epic crash from Schumacher (he's okay, the car is definitely not). Bad luck for Leclerc and Ferrari as a team this past weekend in Barcelona as Leclerc’s DNF gave Verstappen the lead in both the race and the championship. We’re joined by our guest from Nashville Bobby Chase as we go over Verstappen’s win, Ferrari’s woes, and Mercedes’ comeback, along with a quick look at next week’s race in Monaco. Will Leclerc break his Monaco curse and bring home the victory on his home turf? Reach out to us:twitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1email: homepositionf1@gmail.comYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTVOZ7LX2xdDbeOfNI86pigWant to starts your own podcast? The Miami GP was certainly a spectacle, but the race itself didn't have much to offer beyond a couple of weird incidents in the midfield. Verstappen came away with the win despite difficulties in quali, and Leclerc and Sainz took up the remaining podiums and scored a bag of points for Ferrari. We are joined in this episode once again by Marissa Troy for another quick look at the interesting F1 helmet designs celebrating the first ever Miami GP.  Have anything to add? Reach out to us:twitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1email: homepositionf1@gmail.comYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTVOZ7LX2xdDbeOfNI86pigWant to starts your own podcast? In this episode we spoke with special guest Marissa Troy about all things livery and design for each F1 team. So much thought, planning, and detail goes into these F1 livery designs, though after speaking with Marissa it's clear that some put in more effort than others. We loved learning a bit more about the special details that might go unnoticed to the untrained eye, and the special details that some drivers put into their helmets. Some of her insights will definitely surprise you - tune in to hear all about it! Thank you to Marissa for all of your incredible research and time! https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=1758376 Use this link to start your own podcast with BuzzsproutReach out: homepositionf1@gmail.comtwitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1
Verstappen showed us yet again that the problems at Red Bull rest solely on the car itself and not his performance. He snagged pole position, first place in the sprint, and P1 in the race on Sunday...while Ferrari had to settle with a DNF and 6th place after Leclerc took a chance and paid the price. All of that and more in today's episode!
Step aside Perez, we have a new tyre king in the paddock. Alex Albon was one of the stars of the Australian GP with his single penultimate-lap pit stop and first point of the year for Williams. Leclerc had a perfect weekend with pole, leading every lap, fastest lap, and the win to boot. It was less fortuitous for his teammate Sainz with a DNF, which would have been disastrous for the Ferrari team had it not also been for a DNF for Verstappen. Russell finds himself in a surprising second place in the standings, and more. Reach out:homepositionf1@gmail.comtwitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1
Dummy calls on the overtake option, DRS chicken, and a frustrating day for Perez and Hamilton - this was another interesting round in the 2022 season! It's still early so the relationship between Verstappen and Leclerc is still cordial...but will it last? And will Hamilton continue to struggle or will Merc get it together before Australia? Let us know what you think: homepositionf1@gmail.comtwitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1
In this episode we cover a Ferrari 1-2 with Leclerc clinching his first victory since the 2019 Italian Grand Prix, plus two DNFs for RedBull, an unexpected podium for Hamilton, and Haas is third in the constructors championship! We know it's early, but this looks like a promising season. Disagree? Let us know:homepositionf1@gmail.comtwitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1
Mazepin is gone, the Russian GP is canceled, and nobody is sad about it. In this episode we talk about the latest updates from F1 pre-season world - Barcelona testing, Haas driver rumors, speculation about the top 3 in the drivers and constructors championship, and someone got a puppy. A few of the top decision makers at Aston Martin and Alpine are playing musical chairs, Max Verstappen looks like his girlfriend except with a mustache, and Valtteri Bottas did a naked cartwheel on the beach. F1 news is pretty slow these days, but we're still here! Keep in touch:email: homepositionf1@gmail.comtwitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1

The 2021 F1 season ended with an epic, controversial, unsatisfying, incredible, mind blowing final lap, in which Michael Masi took matters in his own hands and decided Max Verstappen winning makes for better TV. We discuss the race and that final decision and more. Get in touch: email: homepositionf1@gmail.comtwitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1
Hamilton defeated Verstappen in a controversial, borderline silly race in Saudi Arabia, and Ocon was denied a podium by a few meters. The race was littered with yellow flags, red flags, conspiracy theories, questionable behavior, and petty back-and-forth conversations between Red Bull, Mercedes, and the FIA. The two front runners are now tied for first, with an advantage for Verstappen thanks to his 9 wins to Hamilton's 8. We cover it all and give our unfiltered expert opinion - don't agree with us? Reach out homepositionf1@gmail.comtwitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1
Lewis Hamilton closed the deficit between him and Max Verstappen to a mere 8 points in Qatar, Alonso was back on the podium for the first time since Hungary 2014 (for reference on how long ago that was, Ricciardo won that race with Red Bull and Hamilton came in third in a McLaren!). We discuss all of that plus Christian Horner's run in with the FIA and more in this week's episode of Home Position F1. Get in touch: homepositionf1@gmail.comtwitter: @homepositionf1instagram: @homepositionf1
