Episode 22

Katie and Ginny catch up.
There's a hint of spring in the air and in this episode, we talk about what we are doing to plan and prepare for warmer temps!
In this episode, Katie and Ginny share their list of things they hope are normalized in 2023.
We are kicking off a new year with new episodes!  In Episode 19, we talk about how important mental health is going into 2023.  From anxiety and depression to work stress to family turmoil - mental health can really sneak up on you.  Join us as we look ahead at 2023 and make first steps towards a healthier, happier new year.
Katie and Ginny explain where they've been for the past two months.  Turns out, the Covid Hangover has gotten them both.  What's the Covid Hangover?  It's that awful transition from pandemic to real life again that comes with all kinds of stumbling blocks and set backs.  It's kicking our butts, but we'll share our journey with you.
In this episode, we catch up after the Thanksgiving holiday.  Katie returns from a cruise to the Caribbean with a "B- vacation,"  Ginny's kids think she's famous, and all our kids are ungrateful and annoying.  Also, it is very possible we accidentally have our first real sponsor.  Sit back on the couch and catch up with your SisterFriends!
In this episode, we each bring a list of random questions that we need some advice from our sister on.  Things like, "Is anyone wearing chocolate brown nails right now?" and "How big is too big for an SUV" and "Why doesn't anyone in my family know where anything goes". While we may not have all the answers, we have a good time trying to find them.  Oh, and Ginny cries.  So, that's fun.  Download and listen along today!
In this episode, we talk about the Lazy Genius's principle of planning your seasons.  This includes setting family priorities for fall and some ideas for fall weekend getaways.  Ginny also makes us talk about getting older, which is zero fun at all.  But we do get to shave our faces, so that's a plus.
In this episode, we dive into everyone’s favorite personality assessment, the Enneagram. Learn what makes our weird little minds tick as we pick through our assessment results, tell funny stories that make so much sense after knowing our Enneagram numbers, and share what we have learned about ourselves.
We kick off Season Two of Sister Friends with a catching up episode to find out how Katie and Ginny have spent their time apart (news flash: no communication courses were taken, so they still suck at talking).  From surgery recovery to family vacations, to home renovations, to bunco gone wrong, it's one silly story after another.  Welcome back, Imaginary Friends!  We've missed you so!
You guys asked for her, so here she is… MOM JOINS US ON THE PODCAST THIS WEEK. Meet our delightfully eccentric, highly entertaining, and politically incorrect mom, Patty. She brings some words of wisdom on parenting, marriage, family, bourbon, retirement, and everything in between. ALL HAIL THE NANA.
This week, we dive into the topic of all things back to school.  We talk about our family routines and traditions when school starts back, along with what we do as mom’s to keep ourselves and our families organized and ready for a new school year.  So whether you are enjoying your summer or starting school soon, take some notes and join our conversation as we get ready to head back to school!
DESCRIPTION:In this week’s episode of SisterFriend’s, we dive into the much requested topic of self care.  What is it?  How do we make time for it?  And does it even matter?  This episode ended up being over an hour and half of earth-shattering revelations (not really, but Katie snort-laughs, so that’s fun…) so we have cut it into two episodes.  Enjoy Episode 9 and 10, sister friends! EPISODE LINKS: Katie’s Fake Sponsor - Blenders SunglassesGinny’s Fake Sponsor - The HatchGet in touch!Katie’s Instagram - @katiebeeeeeeeeeeeeGinny’s Instagram - @ginnyg8rMedia contact - innovatethecore@gmail.com

EPISODE NOTES:After a rough few days in Katie's family, SisterFriends is back on schedule again.  This time, we talk through an emergency room visit which includes a body part in a sandwich bag and a cursing nurse.  We spend most of our time trying to unravel the mystery and nervousness of making and deepening adult friendships.  Thank goodness we have The Social Butterfly Queen, Ginny, to teach us her ways!  EPISODE LINKS: Katie’s Fake Sponsor - Weight WatchersGinny’s Fake Sponsor - SkinnyDipped Lemon Bliss Yogurt Covered RaisinsSimplify by Bill Hybels Get in touch!Katie’s Instagram - @katiebeeeeeeeeeeeeGinny’s Instagram - @ginnyg8rMedia contact - innovatethecore@gmail.com
EPISODE NOTES:In this episode of SisterFriends, we dive into routines and schedules.  Listen along as we talk through what routines look like in our families, how we manage our work-outside-the-home schedules with our family schedules, and which planning systems work best for us (Spoiler Alert - stickers for Katie; corporate for Ginny).  We also talk through how goal setting and personal priorities help dictate our schedules and routines.  And, of course, there is everyone’s favorite… Fake Sponsors.  EPISODE LINKS: Katie’s Fake Sponsor - Not Your Mother’s Natural ProductsGinny’s Fake Sponsor - BCOZZY neck pillowGoogle Keep digital post-it notesErin Condren plannersEmily Ley plannersKatie’s work planner by Blue Sky Simplify by Bill Hybels I Know How She Does It by Laura VanderkamGetting Things Done by David AllenGet in touch!Katie’s Instagram - @katiebeeeeeeeeeeeeGinny’s Instagram - @ginnyg8rMedia contact - innovatethecore@gmail.com
This episode features our first ever guests on our podcast! Meet Ginny and Katie’s husbands, John Michael and Chris! In this episode we play a weird version of “The Newlywed Show” and then answer questions from listeners. Don’t miss our advice on making marriage work when you’re parenting, the importance of spending time together, and what events in our lives have strengthened our marriages. It’s a little bit of advice, a little bit of chaos, and a whole lot of fun! Get in touch!Katie’s Instagram - @katiebeeeeeeeeeeeeGinny’s Instagram - @ginnyg8rMedia contact - innovatethecore@gmail.com
EPISODE NOTES: This week we recap Katie’s visit to Atlanta to see Ginny’s family.  Are you planning a trip to Atlanta sometime soon?  This is your podcast!  Hear about our favorite Atlanta places (and maybe the ones we would pass on, too…) and some of our childhood memories of growing up there ourselves.  Also, we laugh for a solid two minutes in this episode at absolutely nothing and Katie almost wets her pants.  It’s a good time.  EPISODE LINKS:World of Coca-Cola MuseumThe VarsityZoo AtlantaKatie’s fake sponsor: Glade Plug Ins in bambooGinny’s fake sponsor: Olly VitaminsGet in touch!Katie’s Instagram - @katiebeeeeeeeeeeeeGinny’s Instagram - @ginnyg8rMedia contact - innovatethecore@gmail.com
We feel personally attacked by the label “Geriatric Millennials.”  On this episode, we hash out Millennial trends and whether we are on the bandwagon or not.  Crop tops, boyfriend jeans, and center parts - oh my!  We also introduce a new segment called, “What are you wearing?” and discuss the importance of “date nights.”  Join us as we struggle to use big words and as our kids bust in on our podcast because life happens, people.  See you soon, Sister Friends! EPISODE LINKS:Ginny’s fake sponsor: Verizon Gizmo Watch for kids Katie’s fake sponsor:  Happy Planner “Think Like a Monk” book by Jay Shetty“On Purpose” podcast with Jay Shetty“Free to Focus: A Total Productivity System to Achieve More by Doing Less” by Michael HyattSweet Talk by Cara BastoneRainbow Loom bracelet making “Cruella” Disney movieGet in touch!Katie’s Instagram - @katiebeeeeeeeeeeeeGinny’s Instagram - @ginnyg8rMedia contact - innovatethecore@gmail.com
While we like to find the silver linings and giggles in our everyday lives, life isn’t always funny.  On today’s episode, we talk through the recent passing of Ginny’s beloved golden retriever and Katie’s father-in-law.  We also dive into the awful coincidence that both Ginny and Katie AND both their spouses have lost their dads in very different ways at very young ages.  Listen along as we talk through what grief looked like for each of our situations and how we learned to support others during their losses.  It’s not light and fluffy, but it’s real and honest and that’s what you want in a sister friend.  EPISODE LINKS:Ginny’s fake sponsor - Navage Sinus Rinse (ew, David) Katie’s fake sponsor - Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing WaterInsomnia Cookies Get in touch!Katie’s Instagram - @katiebeeeeeeeeeeeeGinny’s Instagram - @ginnyg8rEmail - innovatethecore@gmail.com
