Rob & Darrell: Now What? Life After Sports

That's a wrap for Season 1! Join us as we talk about some of our favorite moments during this first season, things we learned, and how this podcast actually helped us during times of transitions this year. We appreciate all of the support, all of the comments, and all of the downloads. Join Rob and DB as we talk with special guest, two-sport All American Antoine Cason (DB  was quickly corrected on this subject).  We talk with AC about everything from his HS football days, his time at U of A, and his 8 year NFL career. We ask AC what it's like to be a college athlete one day and then a first round NFL draft pick the next. AC talks about his transition out of the NFL and offers great advice to HS and college athletes going through the transition. Of course, we share stories and laugh a lot like usual. This episode was a lot of fun and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Rob and Darrell talk with Janelle Christman, a former GCU softball player and WAC Champion. This was a fun conversation! Janelle shares her story, which includes completing her Bachelor and Master degrees in Nursing during her time as a student-athlete. She talks about some of the struggles many former athletes face including watching your former team move on without you and not knowing how to dress normally. She also shares a funny tale from the ER that she will never forget. Enjoy!

In this episode we speak with Jonathan Griffin. He is our first non-student athlete. You have to listen to this 20 year transition story that involves laughing, crying, sports, federal prison, and ultimately redemption. There are quite a lot of good takeaways in this conversation to help make any transition a little easier.

In this episode, we talk with 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist, Lacey Nymeyer John. Lacey is easily the most accomplished athlete we have had and most likely will have (she is a 26-time All American swimmer, how is that even possible?!). Lacey shares insight into what it is like to be an Olympian and her transition away from swimming, which she dedicated her life to. She even helps DB with his own struggles as a result of this conversation (which is really cool since this is the entire point of the podcast!). Listen now!

In this episode, we talk with Coach Mike Canales, a college football and the NFL coach for over 35 years, and more importantly, an overall great person. Join Rob and Darrell as they talk to Coach C about how he helps his players prepare for life after sports. Coach C also shares stories about his college and NFL coaching experiences, including his toughest losses and his favorite memory as a coach.

In this episode, learn more about Rob and his experience with athletics as a member of the equipment staff and student volunteer for the football offices. Rob and Darrell share a few more stories including Rob almost getting beat up at a party and the biggest hit Darrell has ever seen. The story involves 1 former NFL player and 1 current NFL superstar that were both on the field at Arizona Stadium in 2004.
