Description

Welcome to Anchored: a Rhody-themed, podcast-styled, low sodium option for the Ocean State’s sea-saltiest opinions. We’re your hosts, Shay and Elise, and we’re two former Rhode Island tour guides with a deep – and sometimes burdensome – love for the littlest state. Despite outgrowing the things that pulled us to Lil’ Rhody from our Pacific Northwest and Midwest roots, we’ve stayed the course and adopted The Lively Experiment as our home. Every other week we’ll throw our edutainer caps back on and walk you through the back story of what’s making news in Rhode Island today. This podcast is best enjoyed with a cold glass of coffee milk, three hot wieners, and/or an unbridled love for anything, and everything, anchored.

Hey Anchored fans, Shay here. You may have noticed a bit of an absence from your favorite low-sodium Rhode Island podcast in the past month. Truth is, life has been a bit hard behind the scenes lately. At the end of February my father passed away and while I was able to crank out the interviews with Two Thangs and Bill Bartholomew right after, I quickly realized my heart truly wasn't ready to dedicate the necessary amount of space to Anchored as it deserves. This is the first close death I've experienced and I'm learning that the healing process takes time. That's why I've decided to take a break from Anchored for the next month or so to give myself time to heal and to remember why I love doing Anchored. It is my hope that we'll be back before the end of May and ready to tackle all the great stories Rhode Island's past and present has to offer. Until then, here are some Rhode Island-based podcasts and creators I highly recommend you give a listen to:Our studio-mates Sex Ed Debunked by Christine and Shannon Curley,Bartholomewtown Podcast by Bill Bartholomew,Ray-ality TV by Raymond Baccari, andLet's Chat Podcast with Chris RevillAnd as always, don't forget to Stay Salty
This week Shay takes Bill Bartholomew, host of the conveniently-named Bartholomewtown Podcast, on a date to discuss the upcoming Rhode Island Election season. Because, after all, politicians are our celebrities in the Ocean State. Links!Bill's InstagramBill's Twitter
In Elise's final episode (she may or may not be running from the Feds), her and Shay look into what the f*ck St. Joseph's Day is. Spoiler: it's not the Italian version of St. Patrick's Day, despite being two days later.Find out what a zeppole is, how to say it, and if Led Zeppole is a sweet name for a Rhode Island cover band. This week Shay takes Matthew Brennan IV a.k.a. Two Thangs on a date to learn more about the man behind the first artist to occupy AS220's Project Space since the pandemic began. And bonus, Matthew also spent a great deal of time in Seattle, just like Shay. So automatic friendship there. During the date you'll find out where the name Two Thangs originated from, what it's like transitioning from being a part-time to full-time artist, and whether Rainier Beer or Narragansett Lager is better.Links! Two Thangs on TwitterTwo Thangs on InstagramTwo Thangs on FacebookTwo Thangs on the Web
This week Shay and Elise are taking a break basking in the tropical weather of Providence, RI in February so instead of giving you a brand new episode, we're introducing you to another Trailblaze-produced show: Sex Ed Debunked. Enjoy!
This week Shay and Elise make like a true crime podcast and talk about mUrDeR *knife noises* No, but for real-for real, this week Shay and Elise go a little rogue and talk about something that has literally nothing to do with Rhode Island aside from being recorded in Lil' Rhody.SAINT VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRES!Tune in.
