By 2050 we have to be able to feed around 10 billion people. Finding sustainable ways to meet this demand in an affordable way is on all our minds. We're here to advocate for sustainable cattle and great genetics. Raising the Steaks will look at real world examples of how dairy producers, beef producers, cattle feeders, ranchers, and packers continuously try to meet the needs of an ever growing population. Clearly and openly communicating with consumers and producers about what we do is the primary goal. Optimum genetic progress has the ability to feed the world, we want to explain why.

In this sneak peek to the NIAA's upcoming conference: Producing Protein for a Food Insecure and Uncertain World, we sit down with  Norbrook's Director of Technical Services and NIAA Co-Chair Eric Moore and Midan Marketing Public Relations Manager and NIAA Board Member Kelly Loganbill. The conversation progresses through stigmas around antimicrobial stewardship and consumer worries about how antibiotic use in livestock production could affect their food supply.  Loganbill also discusses the difference in consumer groups at the meat case and what drives consumer purchasing decisions.In a final comment on the episode Moore states, " Don't be afraid, be bold, be confident and say this is what we do. This is how we do it. And this is the right way to do it... In the past 11 years of doing this, I think it's important to remind producers that ... Hey you're doing a great job and you just need to say you are."
Segment One:In an interview from Hy-Plains Feedyard in Montezuma, Kansas ABS Global's Beef Testing Coordinators Sydney Pryor and Grant Sardella discuss how they continuously collect and evaluate data to create genetic progress.  Segment Two:Coming from the NCBA - Brian Holsted with Prime Source Genetics and Brad Brundage with Trans Ova Genetics explain how they've partnered with ABS Global to create a leading solution for producers. Native beef embryos. The two give a broad overview of the work they've begun in finding donors, the right sires, and how this could affect the industry. 
Segment One  - We hear from Matt Cleveland our ABS Global Director of Beef Product Development - on some of the coolest new technologies coming up in the beef industry. The microbiome project - the amount of potential behind identifying certain bacteria in the rumen to bolster animal health in a non-invasive way is exciting. If you like hearing about the science behind strategic breeding strategies, disease detection through genetics, and how we continue to digest how to be the most sustainable - this is the episode for you.Segment Two  -Billy Gascoigne from Ducks Unlimited comes on the podcast to talk about why his company continues to invest in grassland management projects in the cattle industry.  We hit on carbon credits, sustainability, and conservation that can benefit multiple industries. *Spoiler* We might sneak a conversation about ducks in there too. Tune in and find out just how much Ducks Unlimited has and plans to continue partnering in the beef space to bring producers newer and more sustainable options. 
In this two part episode, we start by hearing from  Annie Pumpa a Beef Sales Rep and the Beef InFocus Supply Chain Manager in Australia and Fletch Kelly a Key Strategic Account Manager in the Southern Australia Region. These two really crack open the Australia production conversation. We talk controversies, feed availability, what producers need to sustain, and how beef and beef on dairy strategies will continue to change for the future. Annie, Fletch, and other team member's stories are really cool to listen to. Hang on for the ride, this episode is a longer one - but the conversations had so much quality I couldn't stand to edit out any more time than I already had. Segment Two follows with a U.S and Californian native, Ryan Person. Having lived in Australia for over seven years, the Texas A&M grad's insights into how he applied what he learned in Australian production to his cattle operation is quite a story. Person works in the international meat trade and is currently a beef production professor at Fresno State. We talk the realities of California cattle production, how historically we've changed types and kinds of cattle, and what he hopes to see for the future of the industry and his up and coming students going into the industry. Towards the end of the episode, we talk exports in China, South America, India, Indonesia, Western Asia, and the US. You won't want to miss it! 
In this knockout interview, industry friends Camas Uebelacker and Jared Wareham talk about what it means to be first generation cattlemen. As we work through the specifics of what each of them pay attention to in the market - Camas in the cattle feeding segment and Jared in the cow-calf segment - we learn what it takes to make the best cattle buying decisions. The two give key insights into what it takes to run a business and make it work, as they try to adapt and circumnavigate some of the challenges they may face with things like implants, vaccine protocols, and antibiotic usage in the future. The deeper the episode gets the heavier and more frank the topics. Camas Uebelacker of C & G Cattle Co is also the President of the Washington Cattle Feeder's Association. Jared Wareham is the North American NuEra Business Development Manager for ABS Global and Drovers Author who spends time working on his own cow-calf operation in Missouri.
