Today, I tackle a rather touchy subject-the difference of generations when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community.  What's more, I submit there are many.  Additionally, I think that is okay.  We just need to do better of understanding these differences, giving grace to these differences, and supporting despite these differences.  So, on this podcast episode, I am going to do my best to share 3 differences that I have seen over my lifetime of work and do my best to explain why we need to be okay with this.    So, if you are game...come join me on this ride into the great "divide" of generational queerness. Today, on the Bi Guy Podcast, I want to share what i think is a mistake that many people are making when it comes to healing their identity shame and trauma.  Far too many people that come to me for help, have previously spent their time and energy basically throwing spaghetti at the wall  when it comes to healing.  What's, more, that try to tackle the entirety of their trauma verses taking it in "bite-sized pieces."  Many within the business world say that the riches are in the niches.  Well, I suggest the same is true when it comes to healing shame and trauma.  In fact, I am going to use the word NICHE as an acrostic to share 5 Tips to Heal your Sexual Identity Shame and Trauma. You ready?  Let's go.Support the showFind the "Affirming Faith Podcast" on any streaming service or click here.FREE RESOURCESJoin Bi Crew (Podcast support Membership)Bisexual Champions Network-Monthly Membership Group Digital Academy: Courses to help you learn, heal, and growLife Coaching Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist nor medical professional and do not diagnose. I have spent a loa of time talking with, and working with, bisexuals throughout my long professional career.  I have also had many women tell me that they would never be in a relationship with a bisexual man, or if they already were, they felt they couldn't stay.  Why?  Well, after much study and thought, I want to offer what I believe are 4 reasons.  These are the only reasons, but they are ones that i kept hearing time and time again. So, grab that beverage of choice, have a seat at my table, and let's chat on this episode of "The Bi Guy Podcast."Support the showFind the "Affirming Faith Podcast" on any streaming service or click here.FREE RESOURCESJoin Bi Crew (Podcast support Membership)Bisexual Champions Network-Monthly Membership Group Digital Academy: Courses to help you learn, heal, and growLife Coaching Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist nor medical professional and do not diagnose. I know that some might think this to be a silly question.  But, I don't think it is.  In fact, I think it is not only a valid question, it is a vitally important question.  You see, I believe there is often a false narrative out there that all "outings" must look the same and when people like me push back on that, we hear about it.  I teach and coach what I call, the "Selective Outage Method," wherein I help people own their outing, plan their outing, and even be selective in who gets to know their outing.   So, in this respect, I think that living "out" is individualistic and to push, expect, or judge the out experience of others should not be tolerated.  I invite you to listen to the podcast and share your thoughts with us.  Support the showFind the "Affirming Faith Podcast" on any streaming service or click here.FREE RESOURCESJoin Bi Crew (Podcast support Membership)Bisexual Champions Network-Monthly Membership Group Digital Academy: Courses to help you learn, heal, and growLife Coaching Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist nor medical professional and do not diagnose. Disclaimer up front: This discussion today is not a permanent fix for identity shame and trauma.  Trauma is something that needs a systematic plan and years of self-development work to heal.  You may even need a licensed therapist.  If so, I absolutely encourage you to find one and hopefully one who is part of, or ally of, the LGBTQ+ community. So, what is it?  The information I give you today is simply a quick 3-step process that I have personally used to help me respond quickly to a triggered reaction.  Again, I say--it is not a permanent fix.  But, I do find it helpful so I wanted to share it with you.So, give a listen to this episode and let me share a way I personally- "get chill to heal." Those of you who are followers and listeners of this podcast each and every week (thanks for that), might remember me inviting Sam McKinney on the podcast in episode 256.  If you didn't listen to that, you owe it to yourself to do so.  I am thankful to have Sam back on the podcast to discuss the topic of Public Display of Affection.  While surveying my online community, I saw that this was a topic that kept coming up over and over again.  For that reason, I wanted to tackle it.  The problem?  I am a bisexual man in a hetero-presenting relationship.  So...I don't face the same issue as do many of you.  I recognize that so I wanted to bring someone else on the show to share their thoughts and experiences.  Sam was kind enough to do it.  Sam desires to be somewhat discreet with her socials so I respect and honor that.  I will also say that if this is a topic that you have strong feelings around, I am open to having others guests on the podcast.  After all, this podcast exists for you.  Thank you, Sam! You know, I kinda think there is a whole lot of bad news in the world today.  Don't you?  I think this is also true when it comes to the LGBT community.  Yes, we know there are still issues.  We know there are still problems.  We know there are legal fights that must still be fought.  We get all of this.  But, as an older adult within the community, I decided to do a little reflecting from my position on the community timeline.  And if I am honest, I see things that make me happy.  I see reasons to celebrate.  So, I thought today, I'd just share a few of those reasons with you.Support the showFind the "Affirming Faith Podcast" on any streaming service or click here.FREE RESOURCESJoin Bi Crew (Podcast support Membership)Bisexual Champions Network-Monthly Membership Group Digital Academy: Courses to help you learn, heal, and growLife Coaching Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist nor medical professional and do not diagnose. FYI: There was a slight delay in getting podcast on Apple Podcast but it should be there now.You will notice that this is not a Bible Talks and I have a very good reason for this.  I have decided to separate the Wednesday Table Talks and Friday Bible Talks into 2 separate podcasts.  I will explain the reasoning more in this podcast episode.  The Bible Talks will continue to air each Friday (although first one was released early so that we could get distribution up and running) just as before.  The difference is--you will need to listen to those on the "Affirming Faith Podcast."  Other than that, you won't see any difference to the Friday episodes.  I hope this is not to much of an inconvenience but I felt it was best.  Find the new podcast on Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Podcast, IHeart, etc.Support the showFind the "Affirming Faith Podcast" on any streaming service or click here.FREE RESOURCESJoin Bi Crew (Podcast support Membership)Bisexual Champions Network-Monthly Membership Group Digital Academy: Courses to help you learn, heal, and growLife Coaching Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist nor medical professional and do not diagnose. In today's Bible Talks episode of The Bi Guy Podcast,  join the universal church in its entrance into the season of Lent.  And we begin this season by looking at the Baptism of Jesus found in the Gospel of  Mark.  Obviously, if you were raised in the church, you have heard this story numerous times as have I.  So, you may be asking: "Keith, what help can this text bring to me today?"I'm glad you asked.  Grab a beverage, have a seat at my table, and let's chat about it today on The Bi Guy Podcast! In today's Bible Talks episode of The Bi Guy Podcast, we look at Mark 9:2-9 and what is most often called, "The Transfiguration of Christ."  In this story, Jesus takes his "special three," Peter, James, and John, up on the mountain where they witness a rather dramatic event. Jesus begins to glow and is joined by Moses and Elijah.  So, I have to ask myself what lessons I can learn from this recording and when I did, I came up with these 4 significant validations or authentications regarding Jesus, himself.  Let's chat about it today on The Bi Guy Podcast.Support the showFind the "Affirming Faith Podcast" on any streaming service or click here.FREE RESOURCESJoin Bi Crew (Podcast support Membership)Bisexual Champions Network-Monthly Membership Group Digital Academy: Courses to help you learn, heal, and growLife Coaching Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist nor medical professional and do not diagnose. Today, I have a powerful episode for you.  Sam McKinney is my guest for this Table Talks episode of The Bi Guy Podcast.  Sam bravely shares her story of living the "straight" life to ultimately discovering who she truly is and what she truly wanted.  You will appreciate the bravery she has in the telling, as well as the living,  of her story and the hope that Sam and I both have for this episode is that someone might connect in a way that will give them encouragement and hope in their own journey.  Sam has requested that I not share any of her socials, etc. in order to protect her privacy to whatever degree possible.  Of course, I am glad to do so.  One way you can show her support is by leaving a great comment anywhere you see this episode posted.  She will be watching I am sure.  So, grab a beverage, have a seat at my table, and let's chat on The Bi Guy Podcast. In today's B9:16-23ible Talks episode of "The Bi Guy Podcast," I tackles 1 Corinthians 9:16-23 where the writer (attributed to the Apostle Paul) talks about how he becomes like his audience when he begins to preach the Gospel of Christ.  Now, I know that most of you are preachers, and never will be.  But, does this text have application for us if we are true followers and believers?  I think so.  There is a saying in business, that I have heard often but am not sure to who goes the credit, that goes "The Riches are in the Niches."  Well, I think that is kinda what we are seeing in this text today. So, grab a beverage, have a seat at my table, and let's chat on The Bi Guy Podcast.Support the showFind the "Affirming Faith Podcast" on any streaming service or click here.FREE RESOURCESJoin Bi Crew (Podcast support Membership)Bisexual Champions Network-Monthly Membership Group Digital Academy: Courses to help you learn, heal, and growLife Coaching Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist nor medical professional and do not diagnose. First off--let me say that this episode is not just for bisexuals even given the title.  In truth, this Table Talks episode of The Bi Guy Podcast is about communication.  And although I am aiming it specifically to the bisexual person, I think there is something here for everyone. This one hits home with you guy.  Although the context of this  text deals with food sacrificed to idols, I think there is broader application than that.  Afterall, how many times do you witness someone sacrificing an animal on an alter to a little god?  Maybe they BBQ it on a grill in celebration of an NFL football game, but probably not for some false idol.  But, I do think this text is applicable and I want to share how and why  in the Bible Talks episode.Grab that beverage, have a seat at my table, and let' s chat on this episode of The Bi Guy Podcast.  Keith's Socials: @thejkeithbrownSupport the showFind the "Affirming Faith Podcast" on any streaming service or click here.FREE RESOURCESJoin Bi Crew (Podcast support Membership)Bisexual Champions Network-Monthly Membership Group Digital Academy: Courses to help you learn, heal, and growLife Coaching Disclaimer: I am not a licensed therapist nor medical professional and do not diagnose.
