He has a deep affinity for the arts as a vehicle for communicating stories that resonate with meaning and the potential to transport and transform us. Juliette Miller uses she/they pronouns, is part of the BIPOC and LGBTQPLUS communities, and has been involved in activism for as long as she can remember, especially since grade eight. Shimmi Kelly is a long-time vegan and animal rights activist, who has been apart of various animal rights organizations, such as The Save Movement, Animal Aid India, and Animal Justice Canada. Kasha Sequoia Slavner, a filmmaker, photographer, writer & public speaker, is a passionate advocate for climate justice and peace. At 15 she founded The Global Sunrise Project, a positive impact media organization. Her first feature documentary, The Sunrise Storyteller, screened at 60 film festivals and won 30 awards. Kasha is a Diana Award & Kim Phuc Youth Peace Award recipient, one of the Voices of SDG16+ and a 2021 Global Youth Climate Network Ambassador.

In this first episode of How Are You: From the Archives for Today, award-winning Canadian filmmaker, and now podcast host, Liz Marshall, catches up with Maude Barlow, acclaimed author, activist and self-described Water-Warrior. Marshall’s 2010 feature documentary Water On The Table features Barlow during her 2009 appointment as Senior Water Adviser to the United Nations. Maude talks about her new book to be released in 2022 “Still Hopeful”, and she does a deep dive into the dangers of “water markets” and the “financialization of nature.”  This is a jampacked interview with Liz’s friend and colleague Maude Barlow, one of the world’s leading voices on “water justice” and the need to protect water from privatization.
