This week on the Healthy Bytes podcast, we welcome to the microphone Mexico Animal Hospital Dr. Treena DeVault, DVM, to discuss the recent outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1, or Bird Flu, The flu was found to have transferred to dairy cattle in 36 dairy cattle herds in nine US states. Dr. DeVault discusses what H5N1 is and how it affects those animals that become infected. And, with the one case of bovine to human transfer, she discusses the affects that person saw. Also, she talks about how we shouldn't be too worried yet about particles of the virus being found in the nation's milk supply. All in all, it's an interesting chat with Dr. DeVault and we think it's one you will enjoy and learn a lot from as well!
The Mid-Missouri area is looking at a possible multi-day severe weather threat across the entire area. On this special edition of the Healthy Bytes podcast, we managed to sit down with University of Missouri Atmospheric Sciences Professor and Meteorologist Eric Aldrich to discuss the threats on the table this weekend.
