If you know me, you have heard me speak about your mindset! Mindset is everything. But there is one mindset that will take you to new heights - Growth Mindset. During this episode, hear me speak about having a growth mindset and that you should always be learning! Trust me - there is a lesson in everything if you are paying attention!Carol Dweck speaks about having a Growth mindset versus a Fixed mindset. It is very clear that having a fixed mindset will cloud your judgments, your decisions, and how you move forward. Having a growth mindset provides such clarity in everything you do.BUT most importantly - and I chat about this too - is that you have to have COURAGE. Have courage to use your growth mindset to take you to the next level. Have courage to take strategic, calculated risks. Will it be uncomfortable? Hell Yeah! But with discomfort comes so much change. So, my friends, will you choose courage over comfort? You can't have both!Contact Nicole - she can't wait to talk to you!IG: @thenicole_smithFB: @thenicolesmithemail: nicole@jmscreatesleaders.comwww.jmscreatesleaders.comSchedule some time: https://calendly.com/jmscreativeleadershipsolutions/free-consultation-withnicole

*Unpopular opinion loading!!!Listen as we discuss what being humble means. It has been ingrained in us to "be humble" and if we go by the definition of being humble, it means to not boast of your talents especially if you are not asked. Wait, uh?WAIT! Are you telling me that I am not supposed to speak on my talents and strengths? This may work for "some", but definitely not for others. This will shrink you! Time to debate! ALERT: Unpopular opinion! How are you supposed to SHOW UP and SHOW OFF? How are you supposed to own your show up if you are going by a definition of humble  that tells you "to be quiet and not speak upon who you are and what you bring to the table." Of course, we art not talking about being arrogant. There is a difference. Being humble means you don't consider yourself better than other people. It's an absence of arrogance. Being humble means that you have the perspective to see that you are as valuable as others, that you make mistakes and that the needs of others and the talents of others are as important as your own. I want to be around people as smart or smarter than me...the learning in that circle is amazing! What does humble mean to you? Question: Are you so humble that you are missing your opportunity to show up...and show off?If you would like to clarity on how to unleash your potential, go check out my Clarity To Impact Checklist to help you on your journey!Contact Nicole - she can't wait to talk to you!IG: @thenicole_smithFB: @thenicolesmithemail: nicole@jmscreatesleaders.comwww.jmscreatesleaders.comSchedule some time: https://calendly.com/jmscreativeleadershipsolutions/free-consultation-withnicole

Season 2, Episode 1 is kicking off by continuing our conversation from last season! We spoke about how to level up in Marriage and Money. This season we have brought the children into the conversation! What lessons have they learned from the parental unit (me and my hubby!) and what misconceptions did they have? They even talk about how we are more lenient with our daughter (the youngest). Our son (the oldest) is trying to see how he can still get an allowance and how he thinks Dad is now more of a sneakerhead. I think the biggest lesson for them is that money does not grow on that shady tree in our backyard and... Mom handles the wants and Dad tends to the needs. We are building generational wealth but most importantly teaching our children financial literacy to be able to thrive in this world! Let me share something with you - Couples that argue about finances at least once a week are 30 more likely to get divorced. Listen…I am NOT arguing about money. Our finances are JOINT.  And that takes TRUST. As much as we want to say “what is his is mine and what is mine is mine”…it doesn’t work that way (for us) in our marriage. Oh, I know some folks will love this one! Marcus and I, chat about how our Money works in our Marriage! I manage the “wants”, he manages the “needs.” Getting married changes your financial life in profound ways. It's not just that you're living together or sharing expenses—you don't need marriage to do that. And while your credit score remains individual, your future choices could be changed by what your spouse brings into the financial picture.  Before you exchange vows, it’s important that you and your partner each disclose your full financial circumstances to each other. Because marriage is a legal and financial decision—the government couldn’t care less how in love you are—you need to know what risks you are taking by binding yourself to another person. Gems we drop:·      Partners should fully disclose their assets, liabilities, and credit reports to each other before marriage. ·      Financial decisions around wedding budgets will affect couples for years—for better or for worse. ·      Marriage can have major financial benefits, especially if you understand the best way to file your taxes as a couple.·      Set up a college fund for your children when they are assigned a social security number (through  529!).Listen to what works for us after almost 26 years!! #trustContact Nicole - she can't wait to talk to you!IG: @thenicole_smithFB: @thenicolesmithemail: nicole@jmscreatesleaders.comwww.jmscreatesleaders.comSchedule some time: https://calendly.com/jmscreativeleadershipsolutions/free-consultation-withnicole
As we grow up, we are determined to "not be like our parents." But, let's be honest, there are gems that our parents have dropped as we were growing up and for me finances were a huge topic in our household...the good, the bad, and the ugly!In this podcast, I have the pleasure of speaking with my daddy, Tony Rogers, on how he learned about finances. He went from a skinny kid, with antiquated teachings about money, going into the Air Force to a twice retired, debt-free Air-Force Captain/Corporate Executive at the age of 55!My siblings and I called him CHEAP...then we went to FRUGAL...then we said, "This man actually knows what he is talking about...teach me."I have gathered all the gems my dad has taught me about Finances (and cooking!) and I applied them to my life to create a lifestyle both my husband and I desire. We are now teaching these same lessons to our sons! We are shifting their money mindset!Take a listen!
