Hello and welcome to the Power of Music and Voice podcast series. A new Season is on it's way so please, be patient. Lots more great interviews with very inspirational people to come your way. In this podcast, I talk to many industry professionals and non professionals on the power of music and voice for good Mental health and general wellbeing about what it means to them and how it’s used. My passion is to raise the awareness of their power. With voice it could be hypnotherapy, therapy, just talking about issues, singing or using your voice to be heard with issues you may be passionate about. With music, writing songs, performing, giving music therapy is another very effective way to help. They can both bring harmony, joy, peace and so much more to our lives and to the lives of others when their power is embraced. Join me on this wonderful journey through music and voice. In this episode I chat to Lucy and Ollie who created the Rock the Lockdown  during lockdown which helped so many people deal with getting through the day each day for weeks on end.  I've no doubt through the musical community that was created many suicides were averted and a lot of people didn't feel so lonley through such hard times.  Listen to how and why this fabulous idea came about.  We have quite a giggle through out too as they are such a fun couple. Enjoy :) This was recorded last year but twice a week people still post something although it's not live anymore however, it still keeps the community together and still helps so many. Hello and welcomeHere in this episode I'm chatting to a very inspiring and talented young singer/songwriter - Connor Banks, on what music means to him, how it's therapeutic, how it's helped him and others during lockdown regarding mental health, songwriting and his future in the music business. For such a young musician, Connor is so very aware of the Power of Music as therapy and is interested in working towards  understanding it more too. Back at the beginning of lockdown and frustrated at not being able to get out and play gigs, Connor wanted to share his music to keep up to speed and entertain people during the coronavirus lockdown.  He also wanted to raise money for Wigan and Leigh Hospice, a place close to his family's heart. He said "I'd normally be gigging at weekend so this is my way of doing that"He plays guitar and keyboards and sings.  He has a wonderful voice.  Some of the music he played was his own material but he also did many requests and it was all done from the music room in his house. The response was fantastic and he raised a couple of thousand pounds for the hospice for which he was really pleased and he was happy to help because his granddad went there for outpatient treatment and he and his nan joined the ukulele group there. He said " It was a straightforward decision about who to raise money for because I know the hospice does not get public funding. He is also studying songwriting at BIMM in Manchester and has ambitions to pursue a career in music. Here are some links to his social media accounts and I thoroughly recommend you watch and listen to some of his videos on youtube and facebook. https://www.facebook.com/ConnorBanksMusichttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe7FId_c482yK6N4p9oPcqwhttps://www.instagram.com/connorbanksmusic/
