This series of the Confidence Conversations podcast has been a good one.  The conversations have moved on from what does confidence mean to you to how does it show up in life and in business / work environments. Over the 10 episodes there were so many great discussions, I think with all of them we could have just kept on talking.  It was so difficult thinking about how to wrap them up and to be able to do them justice. I decided on a different approach for this the final episode of Series 2:  I asked my guests what question they had for me about confidence. So this episode is Confidence: With a little help from my podcast friends!I'm going to take some time to answer each question my podcast friends sent me.  In some you'll hear a clip of the guest as they sent me a voice note with their question and for others I'm going to read their question from email. Hoping that there will be a tip, trick or something that resonates with you in my answers. My thanks for this series go to all the guests and to you for downloading, listening, sharing, liking, commenting and sending me messages, I was delighted to have reached 1000 with this series (seriously I had no expectations!)Don't forget if you've listened to an episode and love the guest, go give them a follow on social or check out their website. More news on series 3 coming soon. I'd love you to connect with me.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gayletong/https://www.instagram.com/enrichment_coaching/
This episode was fabulous to record.  Kate & I met through networking and our shared love of being authentic - across all areas of business from the 60 sec pitch to websites and social media.   So I was delighted when she agreed to be a Confidence Conversations guest.   We could have talked forever, there was lots to discuss, the below topics give you a flavour!!The "About" section on a website and how the bio is the most difficult thing to write!Confidence from preparation to pressure Learning to say noFocusing on our strengthsGetting confident to deliver 'Killer Copy'Importance of networking for our confidenceOf course at the end, Kate shares her top tips as a summary of what we've talked about.  If you're anything like me, you'll be opening up your website and checking out your "About Me/Us" page.Websites and business aside, there's loads in the episode about how our experiences and environment shape us as individuals and how they impact our confidence levels. And did you know Kate used to be BA Cabin Crew?  Nope me either!! About KateI’m a Digital Marketer and a Professional Copywriter. I like to say that I make websites and words work together! I bridge the gap between design and content, understanding each element’s vital role in creating a compelling online presence. In short, I help other businesses get found online.Almost twenty years ago, following a move halfway around the world to New Zealand, I started an e-commerce business that sold high-end fashion accessories. In those days, websites were still very smoke and mirrors. There were no DIY platforms, so design agencies were the only route available. The costs to build a decent website back then were eye-watering.So, after I’d blown my marketing budget on a stunning site, I soon discovered that much of the ‘getting the word out’ would come down to me. I swiftly learned how to craft a media release that cut the mustard and became a very early adopter of content marketing. After a few years, I realised I enjoyed writing more than everything else. So, I ditched the handbags and sparkly trinkets for my keyboard and began to help other businesses find their place online.I now live close to Chichester in West Sussex and work with clients throughout the U.K. and internationally. https://katecoote.com/https://copykate.co/https://www.instagram.com/agirlcalledkate/https://www.linkedin.com/in/katecoote/I'd love you to connect with me.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gayletong/https://www.instagram.com/enrichment_coaching/

This episode is a great conversation with Julian Roberts all about confidence and resilience.I was really keen to explore with Julian the link between the two, because I think there are so many similarities.   Julian's take on resilience isn't about grit and determination of simply carrying on, which he says is a slightly toxic way of going through life.  Resilience is about creating a learning loop, when you get knocked down by something that challenges you, you take the learning from it ready to go again, it's in this learning loop where resilience can be built. We chat about the difference between courage and confidence and why Julian doesn't want to feel confident in every situation. We discussed how having a purpose can have a direct impact on your resilience, usually the purpose is always bigger than you and it provides a source of inspiration to energise you when things are tough. The comfort zone came up in relation to resilience and how we now live in a world of comfort that society has created around us.Of course at the end Julian gave his 4 top tips for building resilience. I loved chatting to Julian we covered so much in such a short conversation, give the episode a listen and let me know what you think. About JulianJulian Roberts is an Executive and Leadership Coach with a background in commercial and sales. After 20 years in the business world as a sales leader, he realised his true passion was unlocking the potential of others. In 2018, he transitioned into coaching, gaining clarity, purpose, and a passion for helping individuals and organisations unlock their human potential, build growth strategies, and cultivate a resilient mindset. In this episode I chat to Phil Salton from Chichester Recruitment.  To use Phil's words "It does what it says on the tin - recruitment in Chichester". For me, Phil is one of the most confident people I have met out networking so I was keen to get his take on confidence as well as talking about confidence in recruitment and interviews. Often in coaching we end up talking about a client's job application, their CV, or an interview they're attending  and then the self-doubt, lack of confidence or inner critic that then presents itself. Give this episode a listen.  We talk everything from Phil's Military career and what this taught him about confidence through to hybrid working and watching the working landscape changing as well as killer questions a candidate can ask at the end of an interview. Phil shares his 3 top tips for confidence in interviews at the end of the episode. About PhilAs a local resident in the Chichester are for the past 15 years, I have gone from working with national and some international clients, to solely working with clients based in and around the Chichester area.I love where I live and I'm proud and delighted to support a wide range of SME clients from retail, to professional services and everything in between!Find out more about Phil and his work: chichesterrecruitment.co.ukConnect with Phil: https://www.linkedin.com/in/philsalton/I'd love you to connect with me.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gayletong/https://www.instagram.com/enrichment_coaching/

Overwhelm & Confidence (and everything in between)This is jam packed conversation primarily about overwhelm with lots of other chat and topics included too!  We talk about metaphors and how they can help us to describe overwhelm and how we are feeling about it.  Did you know we use a metaphor in every 6 words?  We discuss why "mood hoovers" and "negative Nelly's' can be good for you and that as humans we are constantly judging each others' language. As well as defining overwhelm, Sheryl gives her top 3 tips for managing overwhelm in the moment. About SherylSheryl Andrews – aka ‘The Listening Detective’ is a coach, listening skills trainer, motivational speaker and author of “Manage your critic – from overwhelm to clarity in 7 steps” and soon to be published ‘Do, delegate or ditch with confidence.’Sheryl has a distinction in personal performance coaching, is a certified clean language facilitator and level 1 systemic model facilitator but she says her greatest achievement to date was learning what kind of listening her teenage daughter needed in order to rebuild their relationship when they were in crisis. Sheryl draws on 30 plus years motivating, managing and mentoring others at work and her own challenges of managing a blended family of 5 children through change, to resource, support and inspire others. This is a great episode of the confidence conversations podcast where I chat to Vicky Booker who is a style and personal brand coach. For me there is a big link between confidence and what you wear, it's linked to your environment and how you feel which in turn impacts your confidence. As well as talking about what confidence means to her and how she manages it Vicky shares with us how she helps her clients to be more confident with their style and clothing choice.Working with people one to one and in groups Vicky is able to explore people's colour types in relation to what they wear.  It was so interesting to hear her talk about the psychology to what you wear and what the different colours mean. We needed no excuse to talk about big pants with that on the inside or the outside and you'll have to listen to the episode to find out more about that.I loved that Vicky shared her advice about beginning with the end in mind from Steven Coveys 7 habits of highly effective people.  Preparation is key to feeling confident and feeling confident in what you are wearing can form part of your preparation. We talk about the most common reasons why people work with Vicky how she helps them to think differently about what they have been wearing and what they could wear.Listen to the episode in full to find out Vicky's one piece of advice for feeling more confident with your style. About VickyOver the past ten years, I’ve boosted hundreds of women’s and men’s image confidence. In this episode of the confidence conversations podcast I chat to Elly Johnson from Well Minds Training.  This was Elly's first ever podcast and I'm delighted she chose to do that with me.Back in 2022 I trained as a mental health first aider with Elly, I want to add some tools around mental health first aid to my coaching kitbag as well as understanding more about mental health increasing my knowledge and my confidence in how I could best support those who suffer with poor mental health. In this episode we talk about lots of topics; the links between confidence, mental health & physical health; how the pandemic might have helped with the stigma around mental health;the focus put on physical health and first-aid & why there needs to be the same focus on mental health 10 keys to happier living https://actionforhappiness.org/10-keys The stats on mental health speak for themselves, 1 in four people will suffer from poor mental health and 1 and 6 working age adults have symptoms associated with poor mental health resulting in 72 million working days lost per year. Give the episode a listen, we'd love to know what you think. About Elly…I am passionate about raising awareness of mental health and mental ill health, helping to reduce the stigmas and discrimination that surround mental health, and supporting people to live positive and meaningful lives. With 12 years experience as a registered nurse working in the UK and abroad, I now enjoy meeting different people through delivery of the Mental Health First Aid courses, from senior managers of international organisations to self-employed personal trainers. From early on in my professional life I have had an interest in overall well-being which has resulted in me always thinking about people holistically whilst caring for them, but on a personal level I have experienced a period of poor mental health myself and, unsurprisingly given the statistics, have many close friends and family members that have been affected either directly or indirectly by a range of mental health issues.I am an experienced MHFA England Instructor member and I started Well Minds Training Ltd in 2018, delivering open courses to a variety of individuals or as an associate trainer for other training Organisations. In this episode of the confidence conversations podcast I chat to Emily and Alan from Yellow Tuxedo about having confidence in your online presence. They've been working together as a real life couple for about a decade. They describe themselves as marketing mentors helping to show small business owners and entrepreneurs how to demystify the internet and get it working for their business. In this episode we talk about everything from marketing structure to your ecosystems to micro & macro marketing, from seasonal affective disorder affecting confidence to you being the expert on you.  There are some moments in this episode where we talk about upbringing, anxiety being a child at school again, getting the answer wrong and how that would affect confidence. We agree that often there's more to be said in saying nothing when it comes to content but that takes confidence to say to yourself I'm not going to post anything this week. This is one of the longer podcasts in the series but it's well worth a listen because there's so much content in this podcast that there aren't enough words for me to describe what we talk about. My final question was three tips that you would give the listeners about online presence and confidence and of course yellow tuxedo had more than 3, I think it was 3.75. So grab a cup of tea and give it a listen. Don't forget that you can connect with yellow tuxedo by following the link to their website which will take you to all of their socials.  And the link is below for the Digital Circus Live - 28th March 2023.https://www.yellowtuxedo.co.uk/https://hopin.com/events/the-digital-circus-live-2023/registrationHttps://www.yellowtuxedo.co.uk/linksI'd love you to connect with me.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gayletong/https://www.instagram.com/enrichment_coaching/
The Confidence Iceberg Before we start with series 2 in this episode I spend a few minutes talking about the origins of confidence as well as the things that positively and negatively impact our confidence on a day-to-day and throughout life. If confidence is the thing we outwardly display to others this becomes just the tip of the iceberg of what makes up confidence. Therefore the roots of the iceberg go much deeper. You can listen to this bite-size episode where I talk about the confidence iceberg in more detail or you can head over to my YouTube channel where you can also watch a video explaining the iceberg theory.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUcXjsJsHjI&t=4sIn the new series of the confidence conversations podcast you will hear me referring to the confidence iceberg and the things that we are able to make a difference to in relation to our confidence.I'd love you to connect with me.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gayletong/https://www.instagram.com/enrichment_coaching/

My guest on Episode 12 of Confidence Conversation, the last in this series, is the inspiring Kate Harris who is the Founder and CEO of VotesForSchools. This is a great conversation about confidence as Kate is possibly the most resilient person I know which I think naturally gives you confidence when you feel like you have nothing left in your tank.   We chat about lots of confidence things including visiting the bank manager in flipflops,   and how the foundations of confidence can mean you either have a mansion on those foundations or you have a crumbling bungalow. Kate began her teaching career in 2000 and very quickly found a passion for Citizenship, PSHE, and student voice.  Kate left teaching in 2014 to follow her dream of finding a way to support schools in developing SMSC & British Values, making it engaging to children and young people, and getting students to discuss the biggest issues affecting them today.  Kate's Citizenship teaching days also developed her desire to see young people becoming more involved in democracy and voting. Kate co-founded VotesforSchools which enables any teacher regardless of subject or experience to feel confident to discuss tricky subjects and then vote, VotesforSchools takes this voting data and uses it to inform influential people and groups about what young people think and feel about a variety of political issues.Find out more about the incredible work VotesForSchools does by following them on the channels below:https://www.votesforschools.com/https://twitter.com/votesforschoolshttps://www.instagram.com/votesforschools/https://www.facebook.com/votesforschoolsConnect with Kate:kate@votesforschools.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/kate-harris-767989110/Want to know more about me & Enrichment Coaching then follow the link below to my website. https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/I'd love you to connect with me.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gayletong/https://www.instagram.com/enrichment_coaching/
My guest on Episode 11 of the Confidence Conversations Podcast is the awesome Debbie Ford.Debbie was one of the very first business owners I met when I started my self-employed journey.  Amongst all the fabulous things Debbie does , she runs the Last Friday Club, a networking group based in Chichester and it was the first ever networking event I attended. It was great to have Debbie on as a guest to talk in more detail about confidence and despite admitting she was nervous beforehand, we chat networking, self-belief in the moment, how confidence is not a constant and that confidence is often being confident enough to not tell your clients everything.Debbie is a social media coach and strategist with over 20yrs experience in marketing, communications and change management.  She helps business owners feel confident about talking to their customers via social media. Her SuperHelpful™️ approach delivers exactly what you need in a way that ensures that your marketing efforts are fruitful, not fruitless.Connect with Debbie across social media:https://thechichestersocial.com/https://www.facebook.com/thechichestersocialhttps://www.instagram.com/thechichestersocial/https://www.linkedin.com/in/debbielford/Want to know more about me & Enrichment Coaching then follow the link below to my website.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/I'd love you to connect with me.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gayletong/https://www.instagram.com/enrichment_coaching/
I met Rob back in 2017 in the corporate world.  I wanted him to join me on the podcast as he's someone I think of as naturally confident, so I knew it would be great to get his views on confidence and how he keeps his in check. Give this one a listen, we talk about all-sorts of things obviously confidence related.  It was so interesting for me to hear Rob talk about how his confidence is strongest when he's coming out of adversity and that what a rainy day meant 2 years ago now means something completely different.  Knowing that lots of Rob's clients a Yapster are in the retail & hospitality industry I knew his business would be rocked to the core by COVID.Rob Liddiard is co-founder CEO of Yapster, a mobile communication platform used by frontline organisations such as Next plc, Vision Express, Caffe Nero, Krispy Kreme, Marston's plc and many more. A company lawyer (practising in London and Shanghai) previously, Rob co-founded Yapster in 2015 to provide organisations with largely 'offline' workforces a secure, inclusive and GDPR-compliant alternative to unofficial use of WhatsApp at work. Over the past 6 years, Rob has become a specialist in the emerging field of Social Leadership, working with industry leaders to align and inspire hard-to-reach colleagues.Connect with Rob on social: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robertliddiard/Twitter: https://twitter.com/yapsterchatFind out more about Yapster: https://www.yapster.info/Want to know more about me & Enrichment Coaching then follow the link below to my website.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/I'd love you to connect with me.https://www.enrichmentcoaching.co.uk/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gayletong/https://www.instagram.com/enrichment_coaching/
