This week we jump into the holiday spirit by conducting a Christmas movie death match between “A Christmas Story” and “It’s a Wonderful Life”. But first Josh talks about his Elf on a Shelf journey, a photo shoot, and being stoked about the Matrix revival. Then Uncle Greg discusses his new goals and we state the episode’s goal of finding out “What makes a GREAT Christmas movie?” (00:38). We discuss what separates a “great” Christmas movie from just a good one, and ponder what the “job” of a Christmas movie is (23:33). The three rounds of the death match are “What are the themes”, “What are the messages”, and “How did the movie make you feel?” (41:42). Then the judges render their decision (1:20:32). We wrap up with out “Top 5 Christmas Entertainments of All Time” and our quote of the week (1:22:27).Contact us:PhilosophyFoolsPodcast@gmail.com Follow us:IG: https://www.instagram.com/philosophyfoolspodcast/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1f466O3f2wp2R4kVkkIBRQ Follow Uncle Greg:Site: https://www.greggillis.com/IG: https://www.instagram.com/greggillis_com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gregory.j.gillis/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM21usGySjhoGiTHdQ1pSmg

Thanksgiving Fools

2021-11-2101:15:36

This week the Fools are all about Thanksgiving! We start off with a grab bag of Thanksgiving thoughts, internal locus of control vs. external locus of control, gratitude, childhood memories to favorite stuffing’s, to how our families celebrate. (1:15) Then we discuss "what is Thanksgiving anyway?", are traditions prisons or revelations? And what “family” means to us (22:30). Then we tackle “Allness Framing”, not living in a binary world, and avoiding social media generated conflict (46:00). Finally, Josh gives us his recipe for an optimal thanksgiving; meta meditation, full body resistance, practice gratitude, be present, feast, go for a walk. And we wrap up with our Quotes of the Day (1:00:30).Contact us:PhilosophyFoolsPodcast@gmail.com Follow us:IG: https://www.instagram.com/philosophyfoolspodcast/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1f466O3f2wp2R4kVkkIBRQ Follow Uncle Greg:Site: https://www.greggillis.com/IG: https://www.instagram.com/greggillis_com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gregory.j.gillis/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM21usGySjhoGiTHdQ1pSmg

We kick off our film discussion deciding whether we’re “team Andre” or “Team Wally” (23:26). Then we tackle whether art is necessary to lead a “good life” (50:00). We get deep and question whether we’re living life, or performing life (1:00:30). We wind down debating if comfort and habit are destructive, or required (1:17:30). Finally, we share our two favorite “Quotes of the Week” (1:34:12)! Contact us:PhilosophyFoolsPodcast@gmail.comFollow us:IG: https://www.instagram.com/philosophyfoolspodcast/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1f466O3f2wp2R4kVkkIBRQFollow Uncle Greg:Site: https://www.greggillis.com/IG: https://www.instagram.com/greggillis_com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gregory.j.gillis/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM21usGySjhoGiTHdQ1pSmg
