A downbeat start after Hearts Scottish Cup Semi-Final loss to Rangers on Sunday...but we warm up nicely to bring you our take on that game, our current health picture and what we have been watching across Films and TV.   Includes reviews of Civil War, Fallout on Prime Video, Shogun on Disney +, Ripley & Rebel Moon on Netflix...plus we recommend a Podcast called Dial F for Football.
Our usual mix of health, football and TV and movie updates.  Enjoy!Recorded in one of the Old Town (Edinburgh) great pubs....if a bit touristy.  Good sound quality.
Usual health check ins, a detailed analysis of the ales we drink, the football we have been watching and the movies/TV we have enjoyed - all over the past month. The A,A & A crew pay tribute to the late Jimmy Kerr. This recording took place in the famous sunken table within the Guildford Bar in Edinburgh.  Do visit the pub as it is one of Edinburgh's best!
We take a serious turn after our Xmas and New Year break, as we interview our old Modern Studies teacher from the 70's - Alex Wallace.Alex tells us about life at Craigroyston back then, the clog 'infestation', the moustaches and the camaraderie of the staff room.  His career highlight as eventual Head Teacher of James Gillespies High School (including his initial reception) as well as his South African project. Our usual Ailments, football (Garry educates us as to when the Scottish League started to go wrong with polarisation rife in 1969) and TV/Cinema chat is all in there too.

Kays Bar - Episode 19

On a freezing afternoon in Edinburgh, your intrepid podcasters sought out solace with some real ale and it took 5 attempts to get into a good pub in Edinburgh's New Town.  Our original choice (The Cumberland Bar) didn't open - like other pubs post-covid - until late in the afternoon....so Kays Bar it is. (Great pub, fantastic, consistently high quality beers!)Good sound in this one, some new Ailments were discovered and exchanged, but our combined mental health remains good. Gary returns from Chicago specially to make this podcast - we briefly discuss Hearts and choose our top and not so top pub visits over the past 2+ years of AA&A.Enjoy!
We kept the Hearts V Celtic talk to a minimum (for obvious reasons) this month as we visited the Windsor (formerly 'The Windsor Buffet) top end of Leith Walk (Elm Row) for a change.Mental health is high on our agenda, but not just because of the plight Hearts are in.Scotland qualify for back to back Euro's and the usual round up of what we are watching on TV.Enjoy!
A special Foundation of Hearts podcast as we are joined by Garry Halliday (Foundation Director of Member Affairs) for a blether.  Well worth a listen! The usual Ailments and Film/TV section is in there too!Enjoy!
With a bumper ailments segment this month, a bleak (but enjoyable) close season for Hearts, colossal whinging on social media, is the Foundation accountable enough (we ask!) and your usual movie and TV highlights.  Jimmy, Garry and Mike are joined by occasional contributor (& Hun) Colin.Enjoy!

Scotland the Brave!Recorded under the sun and fuelled by good beer and pizza - enjoy our Summer (Not) Seaside Special.TV rewatches, Scottish National Team....& Indiana Jones...well Garry has seen it.
Well...like the inability to get a pint of Stewarts Pentland IPA at this pub (despite the barmans best efforts - thankfully the Two by Two beer was beautiful) technical problems beset us and we didn't get the first 32 minutes of our blether recorded adequately enough to broadcast.  Our apologies, we will get it right in March.  Anyway enjoy a Happy Valley discussion, a beer/pub review, a trip down beer memory lane and a discussion about our favourite brewery tours. Please do leave a comment/review.
Gary isn't well for this podcast so we had Tam McGovern come along and join us at this great pub (good service too!).  John Souttar, Millie, Boris johnson and Tam's Holiday plans all get explained in this third episode.  Enjoy - oh and the sound quality is much better this time!

Virgin territory! (Not many 60 year olds get to experience that) None of us had been to The Starbank Inn before and we were pleasantly surprised by the beer and friendly welcome we were given.Nonetheless, expect the usual mix (Gary went to Canada and Alaska for 3 weeks recently) of new Ailments, a brighter outlook for Hearts and some new TV shows to catch up on/recommend for you.  Enjoy!
A downbeat cast of characters (the beer was excellent!) focus on the end of a disappointing season from a Hearts perspective.  All good on the health front for all and we are joined by sometime sentient contributor Colin Lambie. We will be more upbeat on the next podcast at the end of June.Enjoy! (or at least give us a listen!)
The usual tripe...Hearts football (its not a pleasant discussion!), Cinema's iconic set pieces and we are all relatively well.  Joined this month by a recently retired from work guest, Mr Colin Lambie (he is a Rangers 'fan').Colin gives us some insight into the mindset of the supporters of the Old Firm and keeps us on the straight and narrow.  Suffice to say that Rangers did us (Hearts) no favours by losing to Aberdeen for the first time in many years at Pittodrie.  Enjoy!
Hearts woes (before the Kilmarnock debacle), TV, good beer and our first published podcast from outwit Edinburgh....not that far outside!  Does anyone go the Cinema now?
In a timely start to 2023 we visited the Edinburgh City Arts Centre to see No Ruined Stone - a photographic exhibition by Paul Duke (a former Craigroyston High School (Edinburgh) pupil. We then retired for a hefty lunch to Kays Bar - highly recommended, superb beer - and then reluctantly had to head to the Oxford Bar to record this month's podcast. We discussed our many listeners in Frankfurt and Melbourne, Hearts stellar week in Scotland ....and not forgetting Ernie TFMITW.
We are back!  After a 3 month hiatus, listen here for our take on Hearts (short) European adventure, current TV and Movies (does anyone still go?) and the latest in our list of injuries/sickness.  Jimmy has a bus pass - but Garry and I have to wait till next year. There is also a short recap on the guys trip to Florence (Jimmy and Garry)...I wasn't there :(...to watch Fiorentina take on Hearts.  In short, a poor result - but a great time was had by all!

From the usual team ills, to Hearts failing for the 3rd time in 4 years to get the Scottish Cup back where it belongs at Tynecastle, to Scotland and the Depp/Heard trial.
