Description

The safe place to identify your shame, call it by its name, and ditch it cuz it's lame. The place where we answer the question "Who was I before the world and shame said I wasn't enough?" The place where we talk about the heartbreaking and unfair, because the joy and the healing are worth that fight. The place where you can set down the heavy burden of the shame that never belonged to you.🧡

I know it’s heavy and heartbreaking to think about children being harmed. It sucks. Deeply. 💔 But we will not protect them by ignoring the problem. If Uvalde is teaching us anything, it’s that children will continue to pay for things first; they will be on the front line until we, the adults, the parents, take educated, informed, and assertive action. ⚠️TW: explanation of childhood sexual abuse.⚠️Join me and my husband, Nathan, as we share tools and practices on protecting children from sexual abuse. While we can each do our part to be safe adults, understanding how to equip children to advocate and fight back is equally important. While this is the end of season one, stay connected with me on Instagram or TikTok! The fight to feel valid, supported, and seen is one the queer community knows well. I sat down with Cameron Stearman for a vulnerable, authentic conversation about his experience with that fight. Cameron shares his story of growing up gay, his fight for validity, love, and acceptance, and the shame that lived with him in that place. ⚠️TW: discussion of suicidal thoughts/ideation, self-harm, and coming out to parents/family. If any of these themes are difficult for you to sit through, please go mindfully into this episode.⚠️This episode is a beautiful glimpse into queer adolescence; the butterflies-in-your-stomach, "will they like me back?" period so many of us know, but with the added heartbreak of navigating homophobia.
