We continue in the Apostle Paul's epistle (letter) to the new believers in Thessolonica. Paul explains why he sent Timothy. Timothy a young follower of Christ, makes the journey to bring encouragement and comfort. Upon Timothy's return, Paul writes this letter and expresses how he longs to see them again. 
Now in Rome, Paul flees persecution from the greek gentiles who worshipped pagan gods and the jews clinging to their traditional faith. The disciples finally understand that Jesus knows everything. While they do not yet understand everything as Jesus reveals it to them, they believe. Knowing all they do, and seeing all they have, they cling to every word Jesus is speaking as the prophecy unravels before their eyes, of the Messiah. The disciples are grieving that Jesus is telling them He is leaving, but assures them that it is best He does, because if He doesn't, the Advocate won't come. 
Jesus is the visible, tangible image of the invisible God. He is the complete revelation of what God is like. Jesus washes His disciples feet at supper and asks them if they know what it is He is doing. Perplexed by their Lord stooping down with a towel wrapped around His waist as He touches their feet, the disciples are watching Jesus show them an example. Jesus does this to show them what He wants them to do , so that the world will know who's are His disciples. Jesus uses the illustration of sheep and their shepherd to explain His relationship to those that belong to Him. The religious leaders are upset that Jesus calls Himself the Son of God, and pick up stones yet again. Jesus continues to bring the scriptures to their attention and challenging their thinking. But they still cannot understand Jesus as they continue to try to understand Him with their human understanding.
