The biggest reason why people do not move on to advanced prayer and spiritual maturity is due to attachments. In this homily, learn what attachments are and are not and how to effectively deal with them. This homily is based on Jesus' teaching along with help from St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross.

Fr. Mayer sets into context parable of the prepared and unprepared virgins who entered into the dark night together. Nearly all of the popes over the past century have held up for the Church the teaching on sanctity proposed by St. Thérèse of Lisieux. This child like saint was proclaimed a doctor of the Church because of her straight, short, new little way, as she described it, of entering into the happiness found in God alone.
