This episode is JAM packed with important info about eating disorders.   We sat down with Dr. Malka Sears, a licensed clinical psychologist in NY and NJ providing high-quality evidenced based treatment, specializing in eating disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, body image, anxiety, and depression.   The conversation around eating disorders, the use of Ozempic for weight management, and the significance of picky eating is crucial as it highlights the complex interplay between mental health, medication, and dietary habits. Ozempic, originally a diabetes medication, has gained attention for its weight loss effects, raising concerns about its potential misuse among those with eating disorders like anorexia. Understanding picky eating extends beyond mere food preferences, as it can sometimes signify deeper psychological issues or developing eating disorders, necessitating greater awareness and intervention.   More about Dr. Malka here: https://www.malkasearsphd.com/   ____________________________________ ✬ Donate and Inspire Millions (Tax-Deductible) ✬   Your generous donation enables us at Living Lchaim to share uplifting messages globally, enrich lives, and foster positive change worldwide! In the spring of 2019, two women in the Jewish community met and discovered that they shared a mutual need. Despite their experiences of personal healing, and despite supportive connections with family and friends, they each lived with their individual secret. With nobody else to share and identify with, loneliness and isolation were a burden that did not get any lighter with the passage of time.   Thus, the realization dawned that perhaps at times even more meaningful than professional help, survivors and their families need community. And their efforts proved to be groundbreaking.   What began with just one small support group, and within a short amount of time, Ray of Hope developed into an organization entirely and exclusively devoted to the care of male and female survivors of sexual abuse and their families, with membership spanning across the US and abroad.   Their Bottom Line: Even one person or family struggling with the isolation and loneliness caused by sexual abuse is too many.   David Kohn, LCSW, CASAC is their Chief Clinical Officer and Dr. Shoshana Friedman, Psy.D. is a Group Facilitator. Rabbi Avremi Zippel was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to Salt Lake City with his parents, in July of 1992. He attended a Jewish High School in Chicago, and attended Rabbinical College in London, England. Avremi participated in Jewish outreach and humanitarian missions, in Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Wales, and numerous cities throughout the U.S. He was ordained at the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, NJ by the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi I.M. Lau, in December of 2013. He married Sheina in January of 2014, and together they moved to Utah later that year, when they created Young Jewish Professionals Utah. They are the proud parents of two adorable little boys.   In February of 2019, Avremi publicly came forward about the decade of sexual abuse he had endured at the hands of a childhood caretaker.  He is believed to be the first Orthodox Rabbi to publicly speak out about sexual abuse in his past. Since then, Avremi has taken a leadership role in combating sexual abuse in religious communities around the world, and advocating for survivors. Avremi serves his community as the Crime Victim Representative on the Utah Council for Victims of Crime, a Legislative-appointed committee. His story has been shared in numerous formats, and he is a sought after lecturer and mentor to communities around the world.   As the Jewish community takes strides in child safety, it’s often easy to lose focus on the voices of the survivors, in an aim to minimize the access of the perpetrators.   In a one of a kind conversation, the Klestzicks sit down with Rabbi Avremi Zippel to discuss the journey of being a male survivor in the Frum community and the twists and turns along the way.   Need help? How do we know if it’s an addiction?   Rabbi Abraham Twerski, the foremost expert on addiction in the Jewish community, said that he doubts that at any time in our people’s history there has been as grave a threat to the stability of the Jewish family as internet pornography.   Despite how widespread and devastating it is, very few try to get the help they need.   One man thinks he knows why and he is intent on changing that.   Eli Nash is the CEO and Founder of JEG & Sons Inc. Eli founded JEG & Sons in 2006 to bring no contract and unlocked phones to US e-tailers and retailers. Under his guidance, JEG grew from a startup to a well- recognized distributor servicing some of the top companies in the US.   In addition to his business accomplishments, Eli has taken active role in the non-profit world and has been behind many groundbreaking initiatives within the Jewish community.   From his work to improve the lives of child sex abuse victims through JCW to his founding of MicDrop as a way to give the gift of public speaking to anyone, Eli has sought to positively impact the world around him.   You can find out more about Eli here: https://eliyahunash.com/ To see his TEDx talk, please visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbYWKVAeu6Y&t As Eli touches on topic that are uncomfortable for many to speak about, Eli shares some of his thoughts and perspective on his Podcast ‘In Search of More’.
