Description

Bible Study: For Women, By Women, engages women in looking closely at a wide variety of Bible themes and topics. These studies are not centered on typical studies for women. We offer short episodes that look deeply into what scripture actually reports in context on a wide variety of Bible themes. We examine what effect they might have on the lives of women today. Frequent references to additional study materials provide guidance to those who wish to dive deeper.

It is comforting to know that the great patriarch, Abraham, had a problem that we are all too familiar with ourselves. He had a hard time waiting on the Lord. He had a hard time trusting that God would be faithful to keep His covenant or His promises. Abraham tried to protect himself. He lied a lot. He tried to enforce his own plans over God's plans with dire results. God's ever-present trees continue to play an important role in His story.Videosthebibleproject.comThe Old Testament Overview: Genesis 12-50The Torah Series: Genesis 12-50Apologetics PressDid God Tempt Abraham? Why do we always crave the ONE thing we cannot have? The things that are bad for us. God has provided SO much for us. If something were good for us, wouldn't He tell us to take as much of it as we wish and enjoy it? When we chose to play God and make decisions for ourselves, decisions against God's provision for us, things do not go well. We need to work to stay away from shiny objects so we can live in peace and be trees of blessing to one another. ScripturesGenesis 2:15-17Proverbs 11:30Genesis 5:29Isaiah 14:3Genesis 6:62 Samuel 19:2Ephesians 5:22-25Matthew 20:28Genesis 1:28Song of Songs 7:11Genesis 4:7Genesis 3:17-19Videos: www.bibleproject.com (download the free app!)Royal Priests of Eden - 6 minutesThe Series: Royal Priests of Eden - 6 video seriesBlogpost: www.bibleproject.comWere Adam and Eve Priests in Eden?

God begins to teach us an analogy between humans and trees on the very first page of His Word.  Trees are miraculous sustainers of human life on earth and a very good example of God's care and provision for us. Preachers and writers in the 1800s found this a fine topic to expound upon, but it has fallen out of favor these days. Why? There are some surprising nuggets of scripture in this episode.  God controls all water and all weather. Let's look at how He uses different forms of water to bring blessings as well as curses to His people in Bible history. He often used weather to help His people in times of warfare and even keeps His own armory for just such occasions!
God's Word describes a time when no one could simply turn a handle and access clean, pure, water as most of us do today.  God uses water and water metaphors to bless His people, help His people in times of trouble and encourage His people towards obedience. ScripturesDeuteronomy 8:7, Deuteronomy 10:17, Numbers 33:33, Psalm 74:15,16 Psalm 65:9, 1 Kings 17:3-6, Isaiah 32:5, 29, Proverbs 18:4, Job 6:14-17, Isaiah 34:9=10, Joel 23:10, Psalm 126:4, Isaiah 59:18-20, Isaiah 32:2, Isaiah 66:12, Isaiah 32:2, Joshua 15:19, 1 Kings 17,18, 2 Kings 3:19, Genesis 7:11, Psalm 74:15, Psalm 104:10-14, Psalm 114:8, Hosea 13:15, Isaiah 51:36,37, Isaiah 41:17,18, Joel 3:17,18, Isaiah 58:11, Psalm 36:9, Jeremiah 2:13, Isaiah 35:6,7, Zechariah 13:1, Proverbs 10:1, 13:14, 16:22, 18:4, 14:27

The intersection of science and theology has often been a contentious one. Much to man's dismay, some things, like God and the source of His tremendous creation power, cannot be found scientifically. We look at some of the misleading experiments and theories of the 50s and 60s that have since been disproven and also reveal a secret kept by a famous and very intelligent scientist.
