The Education Portal, a podcast by Tabor Academy and hosted by Laura Burgess, is a place for good conversation and valuable insight about preparing for high school. Tabor Academy is a boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12 in southeastern Massachusetts. Got questions about what high school is like, how to prepare effectively, and what factors you should consider as you evaluate your high school options? Curious what it's like to make the transition to high school, or from public to private school, or to boarding school? We've got students, teachers, and notable thought-leaders in education here to share their knowledge with you. You'll hear some comments that are specific to Tabor Academy's boarding environment, but our conversations offer insight relevant to students in many different environments. Having a roommate is one of the most profound and unique experiences you can have at boarding school, and it teaches you things you never thought you would learn. It challenges you in new ways, brings out your best, and teaches patience, resilience, and empathy. There can certainly be challenges in any roommate relationship, but most can be overcome with good communication and a little help from trusted adults on campus.  We invited Maggie and Jordyn, two twelfth graders at Tabor Academy who have been roommates since ninth grade, to join our podcast for a conversation about navigating their roommate relationship. Find out how well they actually do know each other after living together for their entire Tabor career as they take on our roommate quiz at the end of the episode! To learn more about Tabor Academy, a boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12, please visit www.taboracademy.org.
