Description

A weekly Bible study podcast that uses a combination of topical/thematic lessons as well as verse-by-verse expository teaching. This podcast is for the churched and the unchurched. Those with questions or with doubts. Those who may be young in their faith or seasoned saints. But ultimately, it is for those who want a serious treatment and clear presentation of God's word. My sincere belief is that Christ not only provides a means for right relationship with the Father, but that His teachings and, the entirety of the scriptures that find their fulfillment in Him, help us to fit the pieces of our lives together. Like Paul, I do not claim to have attained it all (Philippians 3:12) but I'm pressing forward to take hold of that for which Christ took hold of me and invite any who are interested to come along on this journey with me. Colossians 1:28: "We proclaim Him, admonishing every person and teaching every person with all wisdom, so that we may present every person complete in Christ."

In this episode, we briefly discuss the different genres in the Bible and why being able to identify them is necessary to reading the Scripture well.
In this episode, I discuss how as Christians we should realize that it is the responsibility of every believer to be discerning.  And in a day and age of information overload, we have to be even more vigilant and careful in our discerning God’s truth as it pertains to the issues of the day.
The Colossian church was caught in a crosswind of cultures and influences and had started to doubt that Christ was truly enough to handle all of the concerns of their lives. As a result, they began to add beliefs and practices from these outside influences to the gospel of Christ they had first believed in.  It doesn't take much reflection to see that many believers today face the same challenges and are tempted to doubt whether Christ is truly enough. In this episode, Charles kicks off this series in Colossians talking about how the Colossian church was impacted by the gospel they had received.
Recall that the Colossian church was caught in a crosswind of cultures and influences and had started to doubt that Christ was truly enough to handle all of the concerns of their lives. As a result, they began to add beliefs and practices from these outside influences to the gospel of Christ they had first believed in.  In today’s episode, we’ll be looking at Col 1:9-14, discussing the effect the gospel should have on a believer and how that manifests itself in his or her life.
In today’s episode, we’ll be looking at Col 1:15-20, where Paul begins to present his case for the pre-eminence and supremacy of Christ over and above anything else the Colossians could turn to.
In today’s episode, we’ll be looking at Col 1:21-29, where Paul makes Christ’s work of reconciliation on the cross personal for the Colossians…challenging them to remember what Christ saved them from and warning them to not give in to the surrounding pressures and influences.
In this episode, we move into the second chapter of Colossians where Paul wants to help the Colossians understand that as believers, their lives must be lived IN and WITH Christ.
In today’s episode, we’re finishing up Colossians chapter 2, walking through verses 16-23, where Paul gives the Colossians some marching orders based on what he has shared with them so far.
Today, we start Chapter 3, where Paul challenges the Colossians to walk in the fullness of their new life in Christ.
In this episode, we’ll be looking at Colossians 3:5-17 where Paul really challenges the Colossian believers to shed the characteristics and thinking of their old life and instead put on behaviors and mindsets that reflect the new life in Christ that they have now.
In this episode, we’ll be looking at Colossians 3:18-4:1 where Paul begins to lay out how this new life in Christ that he’s been encouraging and admonishing the Colossians to live, looks in everyday situations and relationships.
In this episode, we’ll be looking at Colossians 4:2-18 where Paul gives some final instructions to the Colossian church and some shout outs to those who have been laboring with him in the faith. Sometimes it can be tempting to skim over the final parts of a letter but rest assured there are still some good nuggets for us to glean from the text.
We begin a new series examining the connection between heaven, earth and the temple. Starting in Genesis and working our way at a high-level through to Revelation, we'll gain a Biblical perspective on the relationship between these three things. In this episode, we'll be discussing how the word "heavens" is used as both a description for the skies above and God's realm.
In this episode, we explore the idea of the Garden of Eden actually serving as the temple of the God of all creation.
In this episode we look at what lies at the heart of the fall of man and the continued rejection of God's rule and what God sets into motion to restore what He created in Eden.
In this episode we discuss Jacob's Ladder and the Tabernacle in the wilderness and how these narratives present an interesting intersection of God's presence with man, after the Garden.
In today’s episode we’re going to look at the temple that Solomon builds as a permanent place for God’s presence and the tension in the notion of an omnipresent God desiring to dwell in one place.
In this episode, we look at Jesus as the Temple and how through Him, we now can experience God’s presence in a new way.
In this episode we look at how Christ facilitates a new dwelling place for God's Spirit, namely within believers.
