We talk about “authorities” in every one of our true crime episodes, but do you really know what that means?  Who is who and who does what?  Join us today for an informative lesson on the criminal justice system jobs! The criminal justice system is a complex network of institutions and practices designed to maintain social order, deter and punish criminal behavior, and ensure due process and fairness for those accused of crimes. It typically includes law enforcement, the courts, and corrections. The system also emphasizes principles such as the presumption of innocence, the right to a fair trial, and punishment proportionate to the crime. However, the criminal justice system can vary significantly from one country to another and between different jurisdictions within the same country.  There will be a quiz ;)Hosted and edited by Amanda ScottCo-Hosted, produced, researched, co-written and original graphic design by Pamela ScottOriginal music by Waves Entertainment and Patrick McLaughlin Disclaimer by Chuck HaungsENMESHED is an OH NO! On November 25, 1997,  two days before Thanksgiving 🦃, Earl and Terry Robertson, both 49, were found brutally slaughtered inside their home in Rock Hill, South Carolina, a flourishing suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina. They, along with their two sons, were a respectable family, churchgoing and successful.  Yet someone had wanted them dead, badly enough to cut Terry's throat and crush Earl's skull with a claw hammer.  Suspicion swiftly fell on the couple's eldest son, Jimmy Robertson, 24 at the time, who had recently moved back in with his parents.  They made him a party-ready bachelor pad in their basement, including a fireplace and pool table.  After graduating high school with honors, Jimmy had taken a wrong turn, flunking out of college, spiraling downward into drug and alcohol abuse and petty crime.  Were Jimmy and his brother Chip involved in their parent’s murder?  The inheritance was over 2 million….Join Amanda and Pam as they discuss today’s case of greed and privilege.   SOURCE MATERIALS:James Robertson | Murderpedia, the encyclopedia of murderersDeath row inmate leaves appeal hearing over shackles | AP NewsSC man on death row for parents’ double murder in 1997 still appeals | The State 11.27.97: Son is charged with killing S.C. couple | Charlotte ObserverSouth Carolina | Death Penalty Information CenterRock Hill death row inmate again appeals; TV documentary in worksHosted and edited by Amanda ScottCo-Hosted, produced, researched, co-written and original graphic design by Pamela ScottOriginal music by Waves Entertainment and Patrick McLaughlin Disclaimer by Chuck HaungsENMESHED is an OH NO! The White House Farm murders were a tragic and infamous multiple homicide case that occurred in Essex, England, in August of 1985.  Neville and June Bamber were killed in their home along with their 28-year-old adopted daughter, Sheila, and her twin sons, Nicholas and Daniel.  Jeremy Bamber, their 24-year-old adopted son, was the sole survivor and lived in a guest house on the farm.  Jeremy found the brutal crime scene and called police; however, things weren't adding up as he told his story.   At first, he convinced the police that his ‘crazy’ sister, Sheila, annihilated the family and then killed herself.   Good try, Jeremy!  This case involved complex evidence and a disputed timeline of events. Jeremy Bamber has maintained his innocence, and the case has generated significant controversy and debate over decades. It's a complex and distressing story that has been the subject of documentaries and books.  Let us know what you think!SOURCE MATERIALS:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_House_Farm_murdershttps://allthatsinteresting.com/jeremy-bamberhttps://murderpedia.org/male.B/b/bamber-jeremy.htmhttps://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/white-house-farm-murders-jeremy-bamber-itv-essex-sheila-caffell-freddie-fox-a9274986.htmlhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GCE_Ordinary_Level_(United_Kingdom)Hosted and edited by Amanda ScottCo-Hosted, produced, researched, co-written and original graphic design by Pamela ScottOriginal music by Waves Entertainment and Patrick McLaughlin Disclaimer by Chuck HaungsENMESHED is an OH NO! Growing up in Elmira, New York, in the early 1960s, twins Robert and Stephen Spahalski shared a twin bond. They both always seemed to know where the other was and what he was doing; they liked to party, and they were both gymnastically gifted. They both also grew up to commit brutal murders….alone.  Again, we ask nature or nurture?  SOURCE MATERIALS:Robert Spahalski | Murderpedia, the encyclopedia of murderersNature or Nurture?
