Peabody, Massachusetts is a city that is located 19.7 miles North of Boston. SEASON 2 EPISODE 7Scott Richards Peabody Police Captain. My next guest is a 25 year Career Police Officer.  In 1996 he started his Police career with the town of Groveland. 3 years later in 2001 he transferred to the Peabody Police Department where he has moved to the top of the ranks.  In Peabody, this Police Officer has led by example by being assigned to many different roles throughout his career.  Such as, going from Street Patrol, Crime Detective and being the Sergeant Supervisor of the Narcotics Division.  In 2010, his rank flourished again becoming a Police Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant he was the City of Peabody’s Shift Commander which brought the responsibility for important different specific roles. He commanded the Traffic unit, the Criminal investigation Unit and was the Patrol Division Watch Commander that over looked  city operations.   He holds many Accommodations, Citations for Bravery and holds many educational certifications under his large police belt.  He holds both a Bachelor and Master Degrees of Science in Criminal Justice. Today, Scott Richards holds the rank of Captain which holds a heavy work load being responsible for many important roles to run the City of Peabody’s Police Department.  Please Welcome to Season 2 Episode 7, Peabody Police Captain Scott Richards.   
How do you define someone that knows what he or she wants to be in life at such a young age? Most at that age don't even know what they want for breakfast?At a cool age of 12 years old, my next guest set a goal for himself, to become a military veteran and a police officer.  What does it say about a mature man who then fulfills his quest on accomplishing these goals.  My next guest is a decorated Coast Guard veteran who holds many accommodations and awards during his service in the Kuwait and Iraq conflicts.  Officer Corey Salvo today is in his 13th year as a career K-9 Peabody Police Officer.  He has proved himself as an expert K-9 handler contributing his expertise on some of the biggest cases in the City of Peabody and surrounding communities. My next guest is a 27 year career Peabody Police Officer.  He has been what’s called the "Jack of all Trades" jumping from street patrol, undercover detective, negotiator, and currently school resource officer.  Officer Eric Ricci has faced his mid adult life battling kidney cancer. His positive attitude with a little bit of luck has kept him working as a Peabody police officer and keeping him out of Dana-Farber Cancer Institution in Boston.  Officer Ricci is the epitome of the quote  “never give up”!!!  Eric is also a key member of the negotiation team for NEMLEC.  Please welcome to Season 2 Episode 5,  cancer survivor and Jimmy Fund advocate Officer Eric Ricci.
My next guest is a retired Police Chief who has many awards and commendations for bravery.   He is a well educated police officer who holds multiple degrees. The man you’re about to meet is a cops cop.  He has worked his way up to the ranks throughout the Lynn Police Department, with his final position as the Chief. Instead of hiding into a dark place of depression,  Leo Quirk has taken his loss with pride and spirit.  He never gave up when had to train himself to walk again.  Leo Quirk is a champion with a big heart that puts others before him.  Please welcome to Captain Kid’s Corner Season 2 Episode 3 EMT Instructor/Examiner Mr. Leo Quirk.
The year was 1973 when history was made in the United States for women who became Correctional Officers in a all male dominated correctional institution.  Since, that time women Correctional Officers have tripled throughout the country. Today, there are currently 3200 Correctional Officers in the State of Massachusetts. Only 33.8 percent are women Correctional Officers working inside an all dominated male institution. The Commonwealth currently holds approximately 8300 men and women prisoners throughout 16 correctional facilities. My next guest is a 22 year veteran of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. She holds multiple degrees in Social Work and Criminal Justice. In 2000 she was the only woman in the Correctional Officer Academy which was held in Worcester, Massachusetts. Christine Arsenault has worked in an all male institution with violent offenders, such as murders, rapists, drug dealers, gang members and even child molesters. Currently, she holds the rank of Assistant Superintendent.  Christine has worked tirelessly up the rank’s making her only a few women ever to hold this title in the history of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. On May 3rd, 1999 history was made in the Tanner City of Peabody, Massachusetts.  Peabody’s longest running Mayor The honorable Mayor Peter Torigian sworn in the first female firefighter in the history of Peabody. The woman you are about to meet is a 24 year career veteran firefighter of the Peabody Fire Department. She has gone above beyond her duties to prove herself in the world of firefighting. Her resume speaks for itself. She holds multiple degrees in fire science and is a founding member of  the Massachusetts North Shore Tech Rescue Team.  She worked her way up to Captain in 2018, where she is currently assigned to Engine Company 7. Navy Lt. Kurt Vied, is my guest today on Captain Kid’s Corner. He is a retired Massachusetts State Trooper, with a lifetime of military service. He is a decorated Naval Intelligence Officer, who deployed with Navy Special Warfare as their Lead Interrogator.  He participated in direct action missions, conducted close to 100 Tactical Field Interrogations.  Kurt Vied is a true American Hero that was awarded multiple citations and awards for his actions overseas.  Please welcome to Captain Kid’s Corner Season 1 Episode 10 a true leader, patriot and a respected officer on and off the battle field Trooper Kurt Vied.
Changing someones life forever is never an easy task.  In today’s world,  we don’t hear enough of the good in human kind.  All we hear these days is the bad behavior and evil of human kind.  World wide news on television or social media is a perfect example of the hate and violence we constantly see now a days.  It’s a real shame we don’t hear about the good in people. No matter what good deed they perform for human kind.  Like the up lifting stories of individuals who have changed people lives, a human that goes above and beyond for a total stranger, a person who doesn’t discriminate against any color or creed.  How far does someone have the courage and perseverance to go and help another stranger??  My next guest is the epitome of a humanitarian. He is a devoted, caring, selfless individual who is making a difference in people lives in the country of Ukraine. John P. Spofford is a retired Firefighter that gave 25 years of his life to the City of Peabody. He holds many talents in his tool belt.  He’s your modern Wild Animal Caretaker enthusiast Marlon Perkins. John Spofford is a Firefighter, Mechanic, Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator, Wild Life Advocate and a Professional Drummer. FF Spofford has gone above and beyond caring for wildlife animals and any animal that is either injured or is in need of special care. Tony Marfongelli, is my guest today on Captain Kids Corner. He is a career Salem, Massachusetts Deputy Fire Chief, with a lifetime of military service. He is a decorated military veteran with multiple deployments. Inspired by his firefighter wife to become a firefighter himself, he entered the fire service at the age of 32. He Brought with him lessons learned with the 3rd Marine Reconnaissance.  Over the years he added to his already deep well of experience by deploying again and again. With each deployment, he gained skills and life lessons. A Reconnaissance dive team leader, sapper and drill instructor are just some of the roles he has served in the military. His experience instilled in him a focus on teamwork and selfless service lessons that he applies today as a Deputy Fire Chief and a Massachusetts Fire Instructor. My next guest is a 20 year member of the Peabody Police Department and member of the NEMLEC Swat Team.  Currently he holds the rank of Sergeant with Peabody Police Department.  His duties with NEMLEC are Team Leader, Trainer and Sniper.  Sergeant Mark Saia is a decorated police officer that has come into contact with some of the most dangerous and unstable civilians in the State of Massachusetts.  Sergeant Saia is going to take us into the day-to-day life as a police officer, training officer, a team leader and sniper team member of NEMLEC. The Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council or "NEMLEC" is a Non Profit Consortium made up of 63 police departments in Middlesex, Essex, Suffolk County and Two County Sheriff's Departments.  This organization is made up of the most dedicated trained police officers in Massachusetts.  My next guest is a modest, disciplined, well trained and a dedicated police officer.  Please welcome to Episode 6, Season 1 on Captain Kid's Corner Sergeant Mark Saia.

My next guest is a decorated veteran police officer from the City of Lynn Massachusetts.  Lynn, Massachusetts is a City that is just shy of 14 square miles long and 3.7 miles north of Boston.  The population is just over 100,000 residents.  Officer Jenn Cash was born and raised in Lynn that she currently has protected for the last 25 years and counting.  She has proved herself as a stand up cop who always does the right thing. She is a well respected decorated police officer detective that went undercover in the world of prostitution and drug dealing! David Bruce  is a retired Federal Air Marshal that served in many different duty assignments over his twenty-five year career. Over the years, he worked in counterterrorism and instructor roles. His most recent position was serving as a task force officer for the Joint Terrorism  Task Force. As an instructor for the Air Marshal's, David taught classes on firearms, tactics, active shooter response and surveillance. Prior to David's law enforcement service, he served as a paratrooper/ combat medic, in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division.Today, David is a freelance writer and an analyst for a private sector counterterrorism think tank. What makes a man give back to his community without asking “What’s in it for me?” In today's world we are always reminded of the greed, the smothered selfishness and ignorance of human kind. The common attitude of society is “How does this benefit me?”Since 1986, Roger Baker Founder and President of Rehab 5 based out of Peabody, Massachusetts has never asked these questions! “What’s in it for me?” or "How will I benefit from my actions?” In fact, it’s never entered his mind!, The man you are about to meet maybe be small in nature, but is a Super Giant in the firefighting community across the State of Massachusetts. For the past 36 years Roger Baker has devoted his entire life to help first responders across the Southern Essex Community of Massachusetts. This area is called Fire District Five. 
On a cool summer night on June 21, 2017 a fire broke out in Lawrence, Massachusetts.  The fire took place on Arlington Street at a 3 family wood frame dwelling. A woman was trapped hanging out of a second floor window sill.  FF Peter Humphrey grabbed a 24 foot extension ladder and rescued the woman from fire and smoke.  The woman lived with superficial burns and minor injuries.  Lawrence FF Peter Humphrey takes us to the scene for the dramatic rescue on Captain Kid's Corner.
