Description

River Corner Church is a growing church community of everyday people who gather to worship God, follow Jesus, and journey through life together.

Our small church community is uniquely caring, simple, laid-back, and intergenerational. As a church, we want to be a welcoming, safe, and healing community for those who are seeking, hurting, or need a place to belong. Our practices are both contemplative (reflective) and charismatic (Spirit-driven), creating an atmosphere that is both conversational and informative. The times we share are intentional and intimate, and a mix between modern and traditional. We want to be a place in which love and honor are lived out, where humility is central, and where hospitality is woven into the threads of our community. There is room at the table.

On Sunday, March 31, at River Corner Church, Pastor Jeff McLain looked at the power of the cross in his Resurrection Sunday sermon message We Focus On The Cross. The problem of sin is that it pollutes, has power, has a penalty, partitions us, and has pain associated with it. We focus on the cross because it is the method Jesus overcame all that looks to imprison and define us. The cross reminds us that neither sin nor death has a final word. As followers of Jesus, the cross reminds us of God’s love, forgiveness and pursuit of humanity. The cross is what gives us the power to overcome the places sin’s pollution, power, penalty, partition, and pain holds place in our lives. Lastly, we also focus on the cross because it reminds us of the life we are called to live. For inquiries or feedback on the sermon, email Jeff McLain at jeffmclain@me.com. On March 17, at River Corner Church, Pastor Jeff McLain looked at Luke 9:57-62 and the cost of stepping into the Kingdom. Together we looked at what it means to continually say yes to Jesus and to accurately count the cost of following Jesus.About saying yes to Jesus, John Wimber once said, "The economy of the kingdom of God is quite simple.  Every new step in the kingdom costs us everything we have gained to date.  Every time we cross a new threshold, it costs us everything we now have.  Every new step may cost us all the reputation and security we have accumulated up to that point.  It costs us our life.  A disciple is always ready to take the next step.  If there is anything that characterizes Christian maturity, it is the willingness to become a beginner again for Jesus Christ.  It is the willingness to put our hand in his hand and say, “I’m scared to death, but I’ll go with you.  You’re the Pearl of great price.”Who we are together.River Corner Church is a growing church community of everyday people who gather to worship God, follow Jesus, and journey through life together. What we practice together. Our small church community is uniquely caring, simple, laid-back, and intergenerational. Throughout our series, The Rhythm of Prayer, we will delve into the transformative experience of prayer, focusing on the Lord’s Prayer to cultivate greater intentionality, intimacy, and illumination, seeking a rejuvenated prayer discipline that sustains spiritual renewal and challenges traditional, duty-bound approaches. In Week 6, Jeff McLain looked at Matthew 6:13, and how the line "deliver us from evil," reminds us of that there is evil at play in this world and it longs to distract us from God's best for our lives. Through this line in the Lord's Prayer, we realize we cannot resist evil on our own and that we need God's Protection and Deliverance at work in our lives.Who we are together.River Corner Church is a growing church community of everyday people who gather to worship God, follow Jesus, and journey through life together. What we practice together. Our small church community is uniquely caring, simple, laid-back, and intergenerational. 2024-01-1539:37

District Overseer and Bishop Mike Clemmer visited River Corner Church on January 14, and looked at John 20:21, and what it means to go long with the mission of God in the places we live, work, worship, and play.Who we are together.River Corner Church is a growing church community of everyday people who gather to worship God, follow Jesus, and journey through life together. What we practice together. Our small church community is uniquely caring, simple, laid-back, and intergenerational. As a church, we want to be a welcoming, safe, and healing community for those who are seeking, hurting, or need a place to belong. Our practices are contemplative (reflective) charismatic (Spirit-driven), conversational, and informative. The times we share together are intentional and intimate, and a mix between modern and traditional. We want to be a place in which love and honor are lived out, where humility is central, and where hospitality is woven into the threads of our community. There is room at the table. When we gather together.River Corner Church gathers weekly on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM to worship and experience God, study the scriptures, journey through life together, and partner with the Holy Spirit. On January 7, Rip Wahlberg preached on Shattered: Surviving & Thriving After the Worst Pains of Life, as he conveyed the tragic narrative of his journey through mourning following the tragic drowning accident that claimed his son's life. Through this harrowing experience, he learned the significance of inviting God into our moments of distress and permitting God's intervention to guide and transform our pain.Who we are together.River Corner Church is a growing church community of everyday people who gather to worship God, follow Jesus, and journey through life together. What we practice together. Our small church community is uniquely caring, simple, laid-back, and intergenerational. On December 31 (2023), in this New Year's Eve sermon, Pastor Jeff McLain reflects on the human tendency to reflect on the past and work harder to achieve new goals in the future, only to find a sense of despair when expectations aren't met. Looking at Ecclesiastes, we look at the human pursuits of wisdom, knowledge, power, pleasure, and work in search of greater meaning. Through the words of Ecclesiastes, Jesus, and Paul, we are encouraged to find fulfillment by being present in the moment, practicing patience, and reflecting on the blessings bestowed by God rather than incessantly toiling for more.Who we are together.River Corner Church is a growing church community of everyday people who gather to worship God, follow Jesus, and journey through life together. What we practice together. Our small church community is uniquely caring, simple, laid-back, and intergenerational.
