It is time we move past the tired conversation of the "angry black woman" and move into a space where we let black women do whatever the hell they want to. So join me and my core talk about what being a black women is to us and our view on societies view on us. This is our second to last official podcast of the season, so I hope y'all enjoy!!If you have any questions or would like to engage with us email us @ dontbecc@gmail.com or check out our instagram @complainerscornerpod
We all have had the unfortunate experience of hearing male podcast and the tired conversations about what an alpha male is. While it can be easy to ridicule and belittle these men, in order to reshape the conversation and change our trajectory we have to understand how things became this way. Men are not born to be emotionally unavailable and repressed. They were raised that way. In order for our future to be better we have to raise our young men better......  Join me this week with special guest Dr. Ed-dee Williams as we deconstruct the concept of masculinity, black fatherhood, and manhood from the prospective of black boys. If you have any questions or would like to engage with us email us @ dontbecc@gmail.com or check out our instagram @complainerscornerpod
Since the pandemic began, no one is unfamiliar to the feeling of loss and the subsequent grieving process. Over the past two years most people have loss something whether that loss be physical, metaphorical, emotional, or financial. So much so you start to ask your self is it okay to feel this way or are you being silly....Is it okay to grieve this lost friendship? Is it okay to grieve the breakup? Hell is it okay to grieve me losing my job even though I been late my last 10 shifts lol? The answer is Yes!Join me and Grief Social Work Prof. Mattison this week to examine what grief is, how it looks, and how to aid someone you love or yourself through the process.... If you have any questions or would like to engage with us email us @ dontbecc@gmail.com or check out our instagram @complainerscornerpod
We love to tell people to love themselves and that they should have self esteem, but at the same time we spare no chance to tell people they're ugly and not good enough. How is someone suppose to sustain a healthy sense of self esteem when society is constantly telling them they are unworthy. And while affirmations are nice they can not cuddle me at night LOLIf you want to look at self esteem beyond the affirmations and false body positivity give this episode a listen. If you have any questions or would like to engage with us email us @ dontbecc@gmail.com or check out our instagram @complainerscornerpod
Maybe our elders were right maybe our problems are because we be on that damn phone?!Now maybe the depression is due to capitalism and not insta...but isn't it worth talking about. Join me this week to talk about how social media may influence your mood but more importantly how it can influence your values....If you have any questions or would like to engage with us email us @ dontbecc@gmail.com or check out our instagram @complainerscornerpod
Often times we look at forgiveness as a cornerstone to healing but is that realistic? Some things that happen to us effect us at our very core, making it impossible for us to "return" to our original state..... when thinking of these things how can something so earth shattering be forgiven? And why would my healing be contingent on giving someone else a pass?I believe that often times people can't forgive and heal because we don't allow them too... This episode we confront toxic forgiveness culture and learn how to give people room to be angry and unforgiving in order to heal. Let's talk about it! If you have any questions or would like to engage with us email us @ dontbecc@gmail.com or check out our instagram @complainerscornerpod
So....being the one to break the pattern of trauma and generational curses in your family can be a tough weight to bear, especially when you are still dealing with your own traumas and struggles. This episodes aim is to bring more context to intergenerational trauma in black families; and how that effects are ability or inability to seek mental health services. So join me and Prof. Daicia Price for an important conversation on family trauma and black mental health! If you wanna get in contact with us email us @ dontbecc@gmail.com or on insta @complainerscornerpod
