Description

If I Were You is a new Bona Law podcast that gives in-house lawyers the essential 5 bullet points they need to explain real-world antitrust and competition risks to their business teams. The podcast is a quick 10 minutes or less, easily digestible during a commute or errand, and we think it’s so understandable that it could be circulated directly to the business side if desired.Hosted by Molly Donovan and inspired by one of her favorite in-house friends who said, “You know, a good way to deliver information to the business side is to say it as, ‘I’m not saying don’t do it, but if I were you, I would do x, y, and z to mitigate the risk.’” And – tah dah – this podcast was born. Each episode will feature a special guest with extensive knowledge about the day’s topic, and each episode will be followed by a write-up of the 5 bullets in blog form, in case some of our audience prefers that format over the podcast.Happy listening and good luck out there. If I Were You, I’d listen to our first episode about monopolization - Featuring Bona Law partner Aaron Gott.

Molly Donovan and Aaron Gott discuss the recent and groundbreaking $418 million antitrust settlement by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and what brokerages and local associations should and should not do in response to the new rules. Independent compliance controls are key to avoiding the “crisis cartels” that may follow this major industry disruption.
Guest host Luis Blanquez discusses no-poach, non-solicitation and wage-fixing agreements in the wake of the UK competition authority’s recent guidance on how UK employers can avoid anticompetitive behavior. To discuss that guidance and antitrust enforcement more generally in UK and EU employment markets, we welcome special guests Andreas Reindl and Marc Freedman of the law firm Van Bael & Bellis, a leading independent competition firm based in Brussels and London.
As a follow up to our initial podcast about antitrust and cannabis, in this episode, we look at more conduct that’s getting cannabis companies involved in competition litigations and investigations in the US. Listen here to help your business steer clear of these hotspots.
In-house counsel, here are the top 5 bullets answering the often-asked question: “what should I do now that my company’s been served with a subpoena?”
Top 5 bullets in-house lawyers should know about the intersection of employment and antitrust, including non-competes and no-poach agreements.
In-house lawyers, if I were you, I would educate your business team about the following antitrust hot spots in the cannabis industry…
This episode - featuring Bona Law's Luke Hasskamp - is for anyone interested in the situation involving the PGA tour and the upstart golf league LIV. Even though it doesn't quite fit our normal template, where we give advice to in-house lawyers, this is a really interesting situation from an Antitrust perspective. And because the events are unfolding right now, we wanted to talk about it while everything is current.
