I remember the feeling of coming first in the athletics carnival. Felt like I was unbeatable, forever. That was the only time I ever came first. Haha — well, in this episode we get to listen to an actual champion! This episode is extremely suitable for the finale I think, because she talks about something that reminds me of a lesson I believe in — “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish”. Tilly is a finisher and her story is a huge encouragement to the Luminary Lions fam.As season 1 wraps up, we are reminded to get in the race of life, despite the outcome! Thank you everyone, love you all and enjoy.More from Tilly:https://instagram.com/tilly.ryanMore from Luminary Lions:http://linktr.ee/luminarylionsCredits:Audiohttp://instagram.com/bojiewangEquipmenthttp://instagram.com/ethan.sj
Don’t you just appreciate hearing what people do with what they’ve had to live with? In this episode, I get to have a conversation with a guy I just met (and soon became friends) who is thriving despite his earlier experiences. This is one of those stories where they used their “set backs as a set up” for what their life is filled with now. Also I love that I got to do this episode with someone outside my circle. (As in, a complete stranger!) It’s something I’ve been wanting to do and a step in the right direction for this platform of Luminary Lions. I’m so thrilled that it finally happened!More from Chris:http://instagram.com/chrismoose5773More from Luminary Lions:http://linktr.ee/luminarylionsCredits:Audiohttp://instagram.com/bojiewangEquipmenthttp://instagram.com/ethan.sj
This episode with my friend Keith is quite eye-opening as to how different life experience really can be for others. When it seems like everyone has a similar story to you, stories like his is quite sobering.I truly wish that no one experiences what Keith has had to go through but that’s humanity — it can just be dark, ugly and horrific and it has no favourites. Unfortunate things can happen to any of us.As you listen, I sincerely hope that our hearts are open and our hands are quick to pluck out the gold in all that Keith shares. There’s a lot in this one. I’m so thankful for Keith and stories like this and I know you’ll feel the same. Losing a loved one is so interesting because it is the most jarring idea that we’re not here forever. We all have an expiry date. We all have to take a swing and “kick the bucket”.Someone once said that death is what makes life precious. It’s the thing that adds value to living, that gives our time on this lonely planet some meaning, as we continue to travel around the sun. While it sounds like some heavy stuff, this episode ends in warm sunshine. It’s such a great listen as my two guests showcase a beautiful scar from a time of tragedy. Tuck in, it’s a sweet one.More from Luminary Lions:http://linktr.ee/luminarylionsCredits:Audiohttp://instagram.com/bojiewangEquipmenthttp://instagram.com/ethan.sj
I understand that people handle this differently, which is probably why I am always curious as to how they move forward despite their challenges. With this episode, I feel as though we are led to wonder about the things that have happened in our lives that have shaped who we are today. I dare say it would even lead us to think about how we would handle a break down of an intensely close relationship.Well, thankfully, my friend El has graciously decided to share her story with the Luminary Lions fam. You’ll find that she’s an enjoyable listen and she really takes you into a journey into the complexities of human relationships. I know you’ll love this one. Enjoy!More from Luminary Lions:http://linktr.ee/luminarylionsCredits:Audiohttp://instagram.com/bojiewangEquipmenthttp://instagram.com/ethan.sj
Sometimes we can forget that even the people we can be familiar with can have a vastly different life experience. Paul is like that for me — just completely different lifestyles. Geographically, academically, relationally, etc. You’ll soon find out how interesting Paul’s life has been, those around him and his experiences now. His story inspires us to explore each other’s stories, when we get the chance. We just never know what treasures we’ll find.Enjoy Paul and his story! More from Paul:http://instagram.com/paullipnicaMore from Luminary Lions:http://linktr.ee/luminarylionsCredits:Audiohttp://instagram.com/bojiewangEquipmenthttp://instagram.com/ethan.sj
How long have you kept a secret for? How long are you willing to hold a secret for? I’m sure it gets heavy. In this episode, my friends Sam, Ethan and I explore some juicy secrets of anonymous people — exploring the heights and depths of the human experience.I own a few books that contain these published secrets, I gave it to the boys to read through in prep for this recording. The results are hilarious and heartfelt, I’m sure you’d agree. I decided in the spirit of authentic and honest secrets being shared, I decided to keep this episode completely unedited and unfiltered. Hope you all can appreciate!Enjoy and the content are from books I own, by Frank Warren. All content and copyright goes to him and his published books. If you could time travel, would you go to the past or go to the future? Well for my friend Lekisha Grace, the ability to choose was not in her favour. As you listen to this week’s episode, I hope that her story helps you in appreciating where ever you are in your life journey.I definitely understand what it’s like to always be wanting or dreaming for more or for what’s next. The next dream holiday, building the dream house or that new car feel. I walked away from this episode appreciating where I currently am, even the mundane, ordinary, routine stuff, y’know? Life is precious — especially the everyday, routine-ish, nothing-too-crazy is happening seasons. I know you’ll feel the same as you listen along. Can you measure heartbreak? Loneliness? Regret? Even if we could, would we want to know?PS. This episode contains graphic, sobering content that could be triggering for the audience. Please take breaks when necessary, reach out if you need to and helplines are found below. What can you do when you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom? When there’s absolutely no hope, no way out? What happens when you’re part of the reason you ended up there in the first place? While life is indeed wonderful, we must brave the seasons that come and “face the music”, even when it’s a genre we fear.Hard to admit and face those things but in this episode, my friend Samantha does just that. She explores moments in her past that has marked her, bares her soul in retrospect and chooses to pave her way forward. Her courage is tangible. Her conviction is clear. I am so blessed to have had this opportunity, creating a platform for a naturally ‘listener’ person like Sam. As I edited this episode, I’m grateful that our best days are not behind us, they are ahead. “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”— Clive Staples LewisMore from Samantha:http://Instagram.com/s_pongaaahttp://linktr.ee/s_pongaaaMore from Luminary Lions:http://linktr.ee/luminarylionsHelplines:Call Lifeline 13 11 14Call FriendLine 1800 424 287Call MindSpot 1800 614 434lifeline.org.aufriendline.org.aumindspot.org.auCredits:Bojie Wang - @bojiewangEthan San Juan - @ethan.sjLocation - @nickyv_ & @jessverzosa_
In this episode of the Luminary Lions podcast, I grab two of my great friends Niko & Sid for a light-hearted conversation about random top three things in our lives. They range from our movie picks to lessons we’re learning so far. While you listen, I encourage you to be mindful about the things you love and enjoy. Then go and fill your joy tank!I love this episode because my friends and I have hosted quite a lot of conversations and panels over the last decade — between the three of us, we’ve hosted many people on stages and platforms to video — but we’ve never recorded a podcast together. So this is pretty special to me as these are my peoples for life.PS. Please try your best to enjoy my silly mistake of placing the microphone backwards — hence why the other two sound fine where as I sound like I’m sitting 5 metres behind them. Oh well.More from Luminary Lions:Http://linktr.ee/luminarylionsCredits:Bojie Wang - @bojiewangEthan San Juan - @ethan.sj
Imagine yourself as a late teenager with stars in your eyes, the world with all its possibilities opening up to you as you prepare to graduate. It’s finally your shot at life and you’re ready to shoot but in an instant — the ball is ripped from your hands and you’re left with a shattered sense of your future.I pray that what happened to my friend Ellen never happens to any of us but may her bravery and her story remind us to not be too attached to our experiences — especially if something we had no control over happens to us. Whatever our lot in life, let’s help each other make the most of it and keep moving forward. Like Ellen did decades ago and what she continues to do today. What can we do when our whole way of life is suddenly put on halt? Listen to Jay’s story about how a couple of events in his life have caused him to navigate emotional baggage and a surprise diagnosis.May this conversation spark a sense of hope in all of us — that while it’s challenging, resilience is still possible especially when you’ve got your crew seeing you through.PS. This conversation was actually recorded twice because I had learned so much the first time ‘round that I had to record again. The first recording helped me to narrow down the niche of this podcast, it’s identity and distinct characteristics. So while I endeavour to keep things organic, I’m grateful that I was able to converse with an easy-going fellow like Jay who didn’t mind re-recording at my request.More from Jay:@j.inocencio_@luminary.lions More from Luminary Lions:Http://linktr.ee/luminarylionsCredits:Jaaziel Inocencio - @j.inocencio_Bojie Wang - @bojiewangHelplines:Call Lifeline 13 11 14Call FriendLine 1800 424 287Call MindSpot 1800 614 434lifeline.org.aufriendline.org.aumindspot.org.au

The Luminary Lions podcast is a platform of truth, and inspiration — encouragement through the power of conversation, sharing experiences and life lessons. Our aim is to lift spirits, illuminate souls and awaken purpose.Luminary Lions is a collective of creative content curated to bring inspiration, wisdom, encouragement or delight to everyday people. Two things that define luminary are “A body or object that gives light.” And “A person who is an inspiration to others.” While lion is an obvious reference to animals majestic, brave and kingly — it’s also defined as “A person of great importance and influence.” And “A man of great strength and courage.” These two words embody our belief in the light that’s woven into the tapestry of our being — further unfolding our conviction to set our souls on fire, one to another. We hope you join us on this journey and be encouraged along the way.✨ http://linktr.ee/luminarylionsCredits to:Audio: @bojiewangTechnical: @j.inocencio_Equipment: @ethan.sjAll content are original unless otherwise stated.
