This week I am joined by David Jeffery, Advocacy General Manager of YSAS (Youth Support & Advocacy Service). What the heck is YSAS you might ask? And that is EXACTLY why we're having this chat. YSAS is the organisation behind FebFast, one of the big events in the non-alcoholic world's calendar. I am super proud to be a FebFast Ambassador for 2023 and helping you understand the benefits of a month off the booze is a big part of the message I will be helping YSAS communicate. The biggest benefit of all, is the fundraising that happens as people are sponsored to take a month off alcohol. In this episode, David gives us the nuts and bolts of the organisation and the incredible work they are doing with their youth-focused Drug & Alcohol support services. You can connect with YSAS and FebFast here:https://febfast.org.au/https://ysas.org.au/

ETCH is a non-alcoholic drinks company with an important social mission in mind. Today we chat with Andy Quin, co-founder of ETCH about her experience and journey with her husband Jason's battle with the booze. It is not often we hear the story of a problem drinker from the perspective of a loved one. This can be an incredibly isolating and lonely experience and I am so grateful to Andy for sharing how it all went down for them, and how they eventually came out the other side.Connect with Andy and ETCH at https://www.instagram.com/etchsparkling/

Over the last eight months she has grown her astrological side hustle and is now a contributor in Broadsheet. None of this would have been possible if she hadn't gone alcohol free and listened to her intuition. We hear Ali's story of battle with non stop drinking and then the clarity she has found in sobriety.Connect with Ali: https://www.instagram.com/alisonlasek_astrology/

Mindfulness and self improvement are a massive part of the work that Sarah Noble does as a mindfulness coach. And there's nothing mindful about booze. For most of us, drinking is about getting mind-less! Here we dissect the normalisation of alcohol in our society as well as the role it has played for Sarah in her life and in her work. You'll find Sarah on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mindfullyyouwithsarah/
In this weeks episode I welcome my beautiful friend Nat Battaglia of the Mindful Mocktail back to the couch. This time round we are chatting about a topic that we both believe needs a lot more education and awareness. The available statistics on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders are pretty damning and Nat and I chat through her very raw personal experience with her second child. The short of it is, there is no safe amount of alcohol to drink when you are pregnant. For the long of it, please tune in and take it all in. This is a really important one to share, as the message needs more airtime and discussion. You can find Nat at: https://mindfulmocktail.com/And more info on FASDProof Alliance: https://www.proofalliance.org/FARE: https://fare.org.au/fasd-program/NoFASD: https://www.nofasd.org.au/

We share grizzly war stories as well as the promise of a bright future, as we have emerged from the grips of Mummy wine culture, better equipped to take care of ourselves and our children. In this episode I mention the breathwork sessions I have been doing with Leanna, which I highly recommend. In this weeks episode I chat to my friend Corry Mendoza. I've know Corry for the last year or so and she's been on and off the bandwagon a fair few times over that period. This is a fascinating chat around Corry's approach to alcohol, her sober curious journey and what lies in that last 2% that's stopping her from drawing a line in the sand and saying farewell to booze all together. Also...another week, another Steve-O reference! This is a chat that I am sure will resonate with many of you who have not yet said a fond farewell to booze. In the podcast Corry mentions my wine education episode that she found so helpful, you can listen to that here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1999157/10800508Head to www.drybutwet.com.au for all your non-alcoholic drinks recommendations!
Brodie Dawson was a hard rockin' hard working, hard drinking punk musician/bartender. But his heavy alcohol dependence became a real issue and was impacting his health and his relationships. 3 years later he's still a hard rockin', hard working punk musician/bartender but he's living a fulfilling and present life and he's kicking some major goals. Brodie is keeping bar at Teller, an incredible new-ish venue in East Brunswick Melbourne. And he has curated a really innovative, creative non-alcoholic cocktail list. The most innovative I have seen. No mocktails here folks! I chat to Brodie about his experience going alcohol free and what that's meant for him, his relationships and his work behind the bar, while enjoying his "Speak No Evil" (Brodie's take on a New York Sour). You can check out Teller Here: https://www.tellerbrunswickeast.com.au/menu

In today's episode, I take a deep dive into my personal history of drinking. How it began, how it evolved, how it all came to a head and eventually ended. What I learnt by saying this all out loud is that SO much of my drinking career was tied up in my identity. ALL OF IT. So many identity crisis' that were buried with booze rather than worked through. It's really no wonder I have had a complete rebirth since going alcohol free.  This is an emotional rollercoaster and there's a story in there that has never seen the light of day. It's one I do not share lightly but I realise it is all part of my journey and deserves to be included. I hope you can relate to my story. I'd love to hear if this resonates with you!Find me at: https://www.drybutwet.com.au/ and https://www.instagram.com/dry_but_wet/
