What does it mean to do things FOR God vs. WITH God? Aren't we supposed to do things for God... you know share the Gospel, obey what he says, etc? Yes you are! But the fulfillment of doing those things comes when you do them WITH God. Leaving him out of the equation is not something that we should be doing as    Christ followers. What does it look like to love bravely? How can community help us with a brave love? How does compassion go along with all of this? Doesn't having an uncomplicated life sound absolutely amazing?? Simplifying life and not being dug through each day by the chaos that is the world. I know one thing, this is something we all need whether we realize it or not! My guest today is giving us some simple secrets that can take our lives from overwhelmed to uncomplicated. I'm joined today by my mentor and friend, Brenda Yoder. She is a counselor, speaker, author, and educator. You may have read one of her other books, Fledge: Launching Your Kids without Losing Your Mind and Balance, Busyness and Not Doing It All. She is the cohost of the Midlife Moms Podcast and Facebook group and also hosts and writes the Life Beyond the Picket Fence podcast and blog, covering a variety of topics on faith, life, and family beyond the storybook image. Brenda is currently a part-time elementary counselor and therapist in private practice. She and her husband, Ron, are parents to four adult children and two daughters-in-law, and grandparents to three grandsons with whom they love creating new memories. S3E19TRIGGER WARNING FOR ABUSE VICTIMSThis week's conversation is on a topic that is swept under the rug often in our culture. No one wants to hear about abuse because it makes us uncomfortable, we don't know how to respond and we don't always know how to help those in need. We are going to go there this week. Why? Because this topic is worthy of being discussed. As    uncomfortable as    it may make us, we need to have the knowledge of what to do to survive an abusive situation and also how to help those who are experiencing it. My guest today, Pamela Mary has experienced unthinkable physical, sexual, and psychological abuse. As part of her healing journey, Pamela has started sharing what she went through in the form of prose. In Pamela's debut publication, she uses poetry to depict the horrors that she suffered, the healing that is taking place, and the hope she now feels. She also shares how there are still rough days, but since her hope is in Christ, she knows that things will continue to get better. Pamela hopes to inspire others who have been through challenging situations not to give up. She wants her writing to be a beacon of light in a dark world so that others know they are never alone. Pamela Mary's story is one of hope and healing that is only found in Jesus. Her vulnerability and willingness to share with us how God is using different things to help her heal is so inspiring.
