Description

A podcast by a college kid for a college kid or anyone in between who wants or rather needs a place where they can sit down and decompress from life. Hosted by college kid Owen Vinson the Seeker’s Shelter is for those who are looking for a community built upon honesty, openness and connectivity as well as just a good ol time. The podcast will tackle hard questions that many college aged kids ask about college, identity, and the largely talked about ‘real world’ that will confront us all eventually. This is a conversation not a sermon or dissertation and because of that mistakes, goof-ups, and laughs are bound to happen… oh well that’s just life. Thank you for supporting me and my vision through listening and participating in this community! I’m glad your here:))

Welcome back to the newly improved Seeker's Shelter! This episode marks a new chapter for the podcast. As I've taken the last few months to work through life and develop a goal for this show, I am ready to share with you all the new path I am finding! Throughout this episode I will discuss the future plans for the show as well as breakdown three common traps we all face in our search for connection. Embrace the journey my friends, and I will check back in next week. Oh also... Peaches Peaches...
Welcome back to another great episode featuring two of my favorite people I met back in High School and the first female voices to appear on The Seeker's Shelter. Their names are Lydia and Mady, and they are each attending East Tennessee State University and Lee University respectively. Throughout the episode, we dove into some hard lessons that we learned through tough relationships (romantic and friendly). We also discussed the transition of expectations from relationships as yo...
Merry Christmas ya fellow Seeker's! I hope everyone is having a merry Christmas season and is able to find some rest in the chaos these times can bring. Today, I've brought onto the show my ride or die boy, Jonathan Womble. We discuss our perspectives and reasons for choosing small private colleges instead of large public universities. While we both deeply respect and value the education on both sides of the debate, our goal is also to expand the discussion forward to the idea of investing in...
Hello again my fellow Seekers! It is a joy that I bring with me on the show today a dear friend of mine and graduate of Berry College, Mr. Mitchell Riggs. Mitchell and I engage in conversation over the harsh reality that our expectations of the world and from the world never truly seem to aline with what truly happens within the world. Mitchell enlightens us on what a worldview with Jesus Christ at the center looks like and how, through faith, he has risen from the weight of unmet and shatter...
What is up! Long time no see... or time see no long... or see long no time... whatever the saying is it's been a while since we've all been together. Welcome back to The Seeker's Shelter. For this show, I brought on my good friend and old roommate, Mr. Ian Lazenby, to help me address the elements of music and the big ideas that we face whenever we turn on the latest Taylor Swift album or a classic Marvin Gaye record. Ian and I both have a musical backgrounds which lend to our rather poetic le...
TODAY IS THE DAY!!!! Finally, after years, decades, even centuries of laborious work, we have made it to our first raw conversation on the pod. Join me as I introduce Zuriel who is a very dear friend of mine and his thoughts were a catalyst to the genesis of this podcast, so it is only right for him to be the first guest of the podcast. He joins me today in the continuation of our fitness as a lifestyle series where we discuss what his experience has been as someone who has found the gym as a...
Welcome to The Seeker's Shelter (uncut). And by that I mean this episode is raw, non edited, and complete non-sense for like...the entire time. I do discuss my struggles with fitness and where I'm coming from as a student who is not a college athlete, but rather someone who has found that fitness, as a way of life, garners a deep passion for values that expound upon our humanity. Enough said, this pod is untraditional because the only plan was that there was no plan at all. Welcome to the all...
It's been a while but I am back and excited to talk about some life lesson's I've had to work through recently. Being a sophomore in college is tough and it's easy to get swept up in the ocean of life's never ending rush. So sit down or stand up, run or walk, grab your favorite chicken wing (mine is lemon pepper) and enjoy the first episode in the dorm!
Today we tackle SPORTSBALL!!! The many lessons hidden within high school sports are a key witness to the fact that life sucks, but life gives us opportunities to learn, develop and grow into the individuals we were meant to become with help from faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust.... Maybe not the last one, but when we place our faith on a solid foundation and trust in the people next to us those are all the tools we need to learn and garner a deep sense of ourselves. So sit down, bu...
In this pod, we address the pursuit of the ever illusive concept of perfection and how it can destroy the quality and depth of our lives. Hoping to expose the weedy and parasitic nature of this idea, we tackle the origins of our desire and how it continually affects us in our lives today. Revealing a truth which burrows itself into the fabric of our personhood and challenges a perception we've never gone without.
Welcome back to episode 2!! Today's topic circles around the truth that is revealed whenever we are face with difficult transitions in life. Whether that looks like moving off to college, a new job placement or personal struggles these transitions can spark radical life change within each one of us, you just gotta look through the right pair of glasses or rather the right attitude of our hearts. (Hint: I wouldn't google this one)

Welcome and enjoy the first of, hopefully, many installments of a conversation between me, the host, and you, the listener. Please, warm up a pot of coffee, find the comfy spot on your couch and enjoy the rambles of a college kid working through and asking life's toughest questions like why in the world is a baby dolphin called a pup??
Where is our identity grounded, why is any of "it" significant, and why do we find our culture at the crossroads of the mirky swamp of despond? This week we address the age old question of religion's deep importance to humanity and attempt to piece together why our culture has ensnared its people within their own idolatrous and morbid maze. I am not a pastor, doctor, lawyer or politician; however, I am me and, through carefully examining myself in this episode, we'll piece together what that ...
An Angel Studios production, entitled Sound of Freedom hit theaters July Fourth. Since its release the movie has stirred the pot quite a bit, making its message a prevalent talking point on many news stations and media outlets. Today, we are discussing why this movie has caused such outrage from people and what that means as our culture moves forward to attack such a sickening parasite that we have allowed to grow in the roots of our world. We break down the ideas of finding unity, identity, ...
