Through the conversation, you’ll learn more about where the idea of the shop came from, how the shop enriches the lives of students and families at Harrison Elementary, and the movement it has created in other schools around our community. 
Episode 3: Washington STEM Academy Literacy Night Mrs. Fabiola Nunez, Digital Learning Specialist at Washington STEM Academy and Cheri Sleighter, Principal at Washington STEM Academy, join Aimee and Kyle to share a bit more about themselves and their unique experiences within Warsaw Community Schools. Through the conversation, we will learn more about an upcoming Literacy Night at the School.On Wednesday, September 27th, Washington STEM Academy will be hosting its first literacy night from 5:30-7:30. This is a part of their literacy week which will be in conjunction with the Literati book fair and other literacy programming activities at school that week. The literacy night will offer eye screenings, free books and reading activities, crafts, and local authors will be in attendance. Pages Aplenty bookstore, the WILL Bus, Kate’s Kart, the Bike Library, and other literacy services in the county will be in attendance. Teachers and staff will be setting up games, reading rooms, and other opportunities for students and parents to further engage in literacy and understand what services and other programming that is available to them in Kosciusko County. Local college students will also participate with initiatives they’ve created to help students gain new language skills.The first 100 students to come to literacy night will receive a free bag to carry their freebies in courtesy of Warsaw Orthodontics.
Mr. Dan Graney, Instructional Coach for the Warsaw Inquiry Learning Lab, joins Aimee and Kyle to share a bit more about himself and his unique experiences within Warsaw Community Schools. He will share more about the WILL bus, its purpose and history, as well as the experiences it creates for all elementary school students.

Our district has one of the most robust summer school programs throughout the state of Indiana. Participants are as young as pre-school and as old as seniors with programs focusing on remediation and enrichment. Mr. Dan Graney, 6th Grade Teacher at Harrison Elementary School and Mr. Ed Jarrett, 5th Grade Teacher at Harrison Elementary join Aimee and Kyle to discuss the many summer school programs. Beginning next year, all 8 of our Elementary Schools will have a focus. This includes our four state certified STEM schools, our two Dual-Language Immersion Schools, and our two brand new Leadership Academies. The last couple of weeks, we have learned more about our STEM Schools, including the announcement of our brand-new state-certified STEM School Edgewood Middle School, as well as, our Leadership Academies. This week, we learn more about our Dual Language Immersion program.Mr. Nate Polston, Principal at Leesburg Elementary, Julian Luna, Dual Language Immersion Teacher at Leesburg Elementary, Todd Braddock, Principal at Lakeview Middle School, and Crystal Kreider, Dual Language Immersion Coach, join Aimee and Kyle to discuss Dual Language Immersion at Eisenhower, Leesburg, and beginning next year, Lakeview Middle School. Through the conversation, you will learn more about what DLI looks like at the Elementary and Middle School level, how the program connects to the mission of Warsaw Community Schools, and how to apply to participate in the program.Parents of incoming kindergartners interested in DLI should start the registration process online on Warsaw’s website. Parents of current 6th graders who are native Spanish speakers can indicate their interest in DLI on this Google Form. There are some Jefferson Spartans in the studio and they are excited to talk about a project they’ve been working on called Happy Beans Coffee. Whether you are walking up and down the streets of Warsaw Indiana, or the streets of a big city, you can’t travel far without encountering a coffee shop. There are a lot of people in this world that love a good ‘ole cup of coffee. Students at Jefferson Elementary School have taken on the role of Barista, serving hot coffee and coco.Miss Rachel Jensen, Jefferson Elementary School Teacher, as well as Israel, Abel, and Bella, 5th grade students at Jefferson Elementary join Kyle to discuss the story behind this project, the learning that is taking place, and how Happy Beans Coffee connects with Warsaw Community School's Year of Kindness. Sixteen teams from around the country will be traveling to Winona Lake next week. While they are here, each team will complete a service project for a local organization or within one of the WCS Elementary Schools. Chad Briscoe, Athletic Director of Grace College and Randy Polston, Executive Director of Combine Community Services and Warsaw Community Schools Board Member join Aimee and Kyle to discuss the upcoming tournament and service projects within the schools. Learn more about the history and the powerful experiences for our students and the athletes that take place as part of the service projects.
