Description

A funny paradox of life I have discovered is that the more you learn, the more you realize how little you know. This journey is part of my learning more about life from others through conversation and questions. My second intention is for you to learn with me because learning is one of life's spices. Third, I want to create a community for myself and you to be a better version of who you were yesterday around art, growth, adversity, hard lessons, relationships, business, parenting, mental health, spirituality, mindfulness, gratefulness, addiction, science, and leading a fulfilling life.

"Giving up is not an option. Being disciplined and determined keeps the fire for your mission to do what God's called you to do blazing." - Lyvita Brooks.Watch the full episode https://youtu.be/g3WKsQSxGo4.Find Lyvita Brooks here https://lyvitabrooks.com/I want you to have an open mind, and that's where we're going. I am open to trusting in the universe that the right words will come out of my mouth. I know that sounds woo-woo. But we have to trust something. And in this episode, we talk a lot about trust. We talk about faith and God. And I don't want that to deter you because it was vital in my recovery and still is. But it may not be for you, and that's OK; it doesn't need to be. The key message is not God; it's about awareness and awareness that things are happening in your life. The synchronicities. They are happening, but maybe you need to pay more attention to them precisely. I hope to open your mind and eyes to that. And, if it doesn't, that's OK; you're not ready. And that's the point here: we all are at different points in our journey. Lyvita talks about that. If you're not ready, you're not prepared, and that's OK. It's like a friend that keeps reaching out intoxicated, and that's OK. I don't judge him. There are so many things I want to say to him. But he's not ready to hear it without judgment. He will be OK. He will figure it out when he's ready. Or maybe he won't. I need help figuring it out. That's what it's about—giving up that control. That was the most significant learning curve for me in life. This past little while, did not being in control of everything. I'm excited for you to listen to Lavita. And I know some people are saying, oh "God," well, that's ridiculous. You see, I've been there. It's OK, but it's good to have an open mind, just like looking. In the news, looking at the left and right in the center is good. Be neutral. Be the observer in your life. It's important. But what do I know? I listen to people that are wiser and more intelligent than me. And what resonates? I go with that. That's back to a point I make in this episode, take action, move on something instead of doing nothing. It's critical because you won't know yourself until you take a chance or do something that scares you. After all, that's when the truth comes out. And living with integrity is so important. We all have value to add to each other's lives, I hope I can add value to yours, and I know you have tremendous value you can add to mine. Being Dad with Sons with Scott HanleyScott Hanley, a single parent, shares a wellspring of experience, advice, and know-how about relationships. He has lived it, written it, spoken about it, and mentored other parents.Scott is the author of the book The Dad Connection. His story of how his book was written is unique, and I loved hearing how it happened. Scott is a man that leads and parents through his heart and authenticity; that is an inspiration to me. As a man, my experience has been we get bogged down by these macho/manly masks that society expects us to wear. Scott doesn't do any of that; he teaches through his integrity and, as a result, brings great results to his son's lives, others, and us. Scott was and is ahead of his time, especially considering he comes from a macho-dominated work culture like the construction industry. Lots to learn here; I hope you enjoy listening; I know I did. Thank you, Scott, for the pleasure of connecting, and all the best until the next time we chat. The Dad Connection is found here https://scotthanley.com/ and a lot more; dig deep, please; he's a guiding light for connection and change if you want it.We all have value to add to each other's lives, I hope I can add value to yours, and I know you have tremendous value you can add to mine. Porn Addiction, Alcohol, and Sober Hurdles with Joshua SheaJoshua and I discuss his porn addiction and alcohol addiction. Like those two struggles weren't enough hurdles, the added fact that it is tough to get a book published on porn addiction shows us that Joshua has fought an upward battle for a long time. This helps me understand why it is essential to keep doing what you believe in and how motivation outside of monetary is where it is. Gaslighting and Unfair Advantage on Living Your Best Life with Dr. Marni Hill FoderaroA significant life change inspired Marni to live her best life by being true to her values and integrity. This led to leaving a marriage after 27 years. Marni's positivity is infectious, and we discuss how she got and is that way. It was my pleasure and honor to have Marni as a guest; thank you! With that, Marni wrote a more poignant perspective on our conversation that I couldn't say better myself.Greg and I are both empathetic, loving souls doing the inner, reflective work to make sense of the challenges on our life journeys. It is validating to connect with others who seem to "get it" and, even without knowing every little detail, can understand and relate to others' challenges. As caring, compassionate people who have experienced familial traumas, we have been Gaslit to question our worth and abilities and often take on responsibility for things that are not our doing. We must grieve the losses we have experienced while continuing to take the high road in our responses. It's important to step back and look at the big picture, acknowledging our role when appropriate and accepting others' influence that we have no control over. There is so much hope to live our best lives. We must follow our gut intuition, research what we are dealing with, and take the time to self-reflect and do the inner trauma work to make adjustments to stay honest and trustworthy to our integrity and values.Discover more here https://godcametomygaragesale.com/?page_id=17You can also find her book here https://www.amazon.com/God-Came-My-Garage-Sale/dp/198223475X.We all have value to add to each other's lives, I hope I can add value to yours, and I know you have tremendous value you can add to mine. Marybeth Gregg and I talk about how self-care starts on the inside - we need to take a step back and be consciously aware of our feelings and self-talk. We discuss how it can be to start becoming aware and how to notice the little things along with self-talk. It can start with something as simple as changing negative self-talk to positive, like "this is happening for me, not to me." We also discuss not being so hard on yourself about your journey, learning to take it easy, and accepting where you are in your process and journey. Getting out of the rut of daily life that you hate is hard, but if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. If you're struggling with this, I recommend connecting with Marybeth to see if you can be helped into a new mindset and life. The Future of Work and School;  new perspectives on the workplace and school place with Steve Prentice.Today, Steve and I discuss the future of work and how it applies to new ways to communicate in meetings and training or apprenticeship. We discuss how to gamify your approach to increase engagement and how that might look to incentivize people. We talk about schooling from a young age, how that is changing ever more rapidly, and how that spills over into the remaining part of your working life. We talk about the simple fact that if you don't adopt change, you will be forced into it, resulting in others having a leg up in the workplace. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation, and it helped me think differently about the workplace and the school pace for our new generations going in the future; thank you, Steve Prentice! To discover more, find Steve Prentice here https://www.linkedin.com/in/stevenprentice/; his website is a precious resource also https://www.steveprentice.com/.We all have value to add to each other's lives, I hope I can add value to yours, and I know you have tremendous value you can add to mine. Greg shares nine (9) lessons from 38 years - this is the beginning of more - Conventional wisdom is almost always wrong. Take action. Man plans, and god laughs. Find a mentor, think big enough, and have a vision that excites people. Positive self-talk. Have an abundance mindset. Learn about other people from your trauma. People and their opinions. And how to get into the writing flow.#convention #wisdom #conventionwisdom #wrong #action #plan #takeaction #noplan #god #laugh #mentor #mentorship #think #big #thinkbig #vision #people #teammates #team #mates #selftalk #positive #abundance #trauma #leverage #opinions #writting #flow #writtingflow #godlaughs #excitementWe all have value to add to each other's lives, I hope I can add value to yours, and I know you have tremendous value you can add to mine. Noah Healy - Computer Science and Solving Big Problems, Programming Languages, Evolution of Computer Hardware, Human Behavior Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Baby Boomers, Starwars, Uncanny Valley, and Sci-fi Story Time with Noah.In this episode, my mind is blown; Noah and I talk about computer science and what exactly it is. We talk about the progression and limits of computer hardware. I ask Noah if Al Gore invented the Internet. We discuss deep learning, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the game go. I try to understand computer languages and how they interact with the CPU of any computer system and Turing language. We discuss the "hard problems" that computer science is asking and hypotheticals on current questions that could be asked. Open source coding. We talk about the uncanny valley and the thresholds of what is accepted and isn't by us humans, why, and how Starwars go some things wrong. We talk about the financial systems, how trust in our old and current institutions is a matter of concern, and how the boomers fit into this. We talk about how humans and computers can cohabitate and how computers are better at most things. Still, humans win in the arts, and how machines can carry a legacy. And lastly, Noah shares a beautiful and funny sci-fi story I have never heard and thoroughly enjoyed.Thank you much, Noah, it was my pleasure, as always, and I learned so much.Noah invented a commodities platform that could change the benefits of trading. Marie Mosley - Toxic Relationships, Proactive Healing, Self-care, Setting Boundaries, and Her New Book Called Pretty Divorce.Marie and I have a great conversation about what a toxic relationship is, how to get out of it, and what it means for the people suffering in the relationship. We discuss how separations and divorce can become complicated because each party involved has loved ones who want the best for their side of the situation. However, Marie makes it clear you need to block out those external forces and listen to what works for you and the children in the situation. We discuss how important setting boundaries is and what it means to the relationship. We also discuss how healing and self-love/self-care looks different for everyone; however, some things will always be true and constant in that process. And finally, I asked her about writing her book and what inspired her to do it. What an episode, and I'm forever grateful for Marie and her inspiration; thank you so much, Marie, and for sharing your time with me; it was my pleasure.Find Marie Mosley on Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/MariedmosleyAnd get a copy of her book Pretty Divorce here https://www.theprettydivorce.com/#relationship #love #relationshipgoals #couple #relationships #couplegoals #lovequotes #couples #relationshipquotes #life #quotes #marriage #boyfriend #romance #girlfriend #instagram #dating #together #happy #goals #cute #follow #kiss #family #relationshipadvice #forever #loveyou #like #heartWe all have value to add to each other's lives, I hope I can add value to yours, and I know you have tremendous value you can add to mine.
