This relaxation meditation is designed to bring self-awareness and relaxation to your body. Christian meditation is a spiritual discipline that develops concentration, focus, mindfulness and intimacy with God. 1. You will begin by sitting comfortably. Close your eyes, uncross your arms & legs, with your palms up and open.2. Some soft music will play in the background.3. I will lead you through a full body meditation.4. You can expect a couple minutes of silence where you can choose to visualize an encounter with Jesus, to meditate on the Scripture I share, or do whatever you would like. There is no right or wrong. The only goal is relaxation.5. After a couple minutes of silence, I will call you back with a Scripture prompt and then count from 3 to 1. At that time the meditation will end and you can open your eyes. Enjoy your break with God. Our first episode is about our best selves. I find that my best self appears when I’m able to control the appetites, desires and emotions which detract from my Christ likeness. You know, as Christians, we talk a lot about looking like Christ, yet if we’re honest, our failure to do so is one of the main reasons people choose something or someone other than Jesus to follow. The funny thing about control is that we typically work our hardest at controlling things outside ourselves, like people or circumstances, yet we seldom put that much effort, or have that much success, in controlling or regulating ourselves. Let’s admit it; Self-control is hard! It’s ironic to me though that the control I seek to have in my world has to do more with external things than with my internal response to things…but, quite frankly friend, THAT is the only thing I can control! So, let’s take the short journey into ourselves with the longest exploration you’ll ever take to find and invigorate your best self. Our guide will be the Holy Spirit and our tools will be a combination of our spiritual disciplines and emotional intelligence skills. Our story today ponders the role of wisdom in self-control. If you'd like to improve your self-mastery, consider a coaching session with me to help you explore obstacles that get in your way and ways to overcome them. As a Christian Life Coach, I can help you move from where you are to where God wants you to be. If you’d like to explore this further, then let’s chat. In this episode we ponder sin. (Yeah, brace yourself for tons of fun!) No sin is pretty and it’s all the same in God’s eyes, but in our eyes some sins are more tolerable, like the ones that come along with looking good as a Christian. Our story this week takes place in the spiritual trenches where Jesus meets me and we work to overcome ways I over-strive spiritually and end up sinning instead. Come explore your own trenchwork, and let Jesus’ grace and forgiveness lead you into an even more powerful witness and fulfilling life.If you are not currently a subscriber to my mailing list, sign up today and receive coaching resources to help you dig deeper!Connect with me at: www.KarynHumphries.com IG @KarynHumphries FB @EQCoachKaryn LI @KarynHumphriesSee transcript for Scriptures and notes.
Welcome to our first witness episode which is where you will find stories of other people. Today’s story is about Sandra and her search for spiritual satisfaction. It is also a story of my awkward attempt to share Jesus with someone who was a self-proclaimed Jewbu. Our story begins in a Trader Joe’s parking lot, and while it went a mile a minute, I’m not sure we ended up anywhere significant. Evangelism is not my spiritual gift and I was way over my head, but I know Jesus showed up in our conversation of life, love, and spiritual quests. Knowing he was there was all that really mattered. If you are not currently a subscriber to my mailing list, sign up today and receive coaching resources to help you dig deeper!Connect with me at: www.KarynHumphries.com IG @KarynHumphries FB @EQCoachKaryn LI @KarynHumphriesSee transcript for Scriptures and notes.
This ponder episode, called the Grace Shield, distinguishes the differences of the emotional intelligence skills of pity, sympathy, empathy and compassion. This is set to a backdrop story of how I accidently offended a friend who, under stress, retorted her justified frustration my way, and then what God did with it. The grace shield is an emotional and spiritual intelligence skill that summons curiosity and connection instead of judgement and separation. This act of grace will help you learn to manage your emotional reactions better, as well as actually care for someone who may be having a tough time. Want to enhance your emotional intelligence? That’s easy, just experience a couple coaching sessions to take your skills to the next level! As a Christian Life Coach, I can help you move from where you are to where God wants you to be. Today we ponder the difference between guilt and shame along with a story that is not one of my best moments. (Although by now, I think you’re getting the hint that there aren’t many of those!) This is an odd and tragic event that involves a cat, a dog, a mother-in-law, a husband, and a complainer. It demonstrates that even when our hearts aren’t in the right place, God’s grace is not only sufficient, it is magnanimous. As a certified Christian Life Coach I can help you move from where you are to where God wants you to be. If you are interested in creating more awareness around guilt and shame then let’s chat. This is an an amazing witness account of 4 guys that experienced the hard spiritual walk through infertility. It struck me that we mostly hear about infertility experiences through women’s voices, and that’s good. But, I wondered about the husbands, I wondered what resources men had to go through it, and what their emotional, spiritual landscape looked like. So, I interviewed 4 men, who revealed less about their incredible selves and more about their astonishing God. Step right up to a witness that will make you desire their faith, without the struggle. But, it’s in fact through the struggle that their faith glistens so brilliantly. We all have trials. As a Christian Life Coach, I can help you move from where you are to where God wants you to be. If you’d like to get unstuck, then let’s chat. I’d love to support and encourage you! Of all the thousand of emotions that there are, sadness is one that we don’t like to invite. In fact, we try our best to block sadness, to distract sadness and to ignore sadness because no one likes to feel sad, and we certainly don’t like watching our loved ones feeling sad either. This ponder episode gives sadness the dignity and respect that she deserves and it will hopefully lessen your fear of her, because some things are tear worthy and God awaits to collect them from us.God gave us sadness and we live in a world that calls upon her all the time, so let’s get up close and personal with her and discover the beauty and the value she actually has for us. Our final episode of the season ponders how we follow God and the way in which I learned to grow more intimate in my relationship with him by just realizing that my proximity and position makes a difference. This revelation came to me through a meditation from The Daily Still podcast, by my friend Cindy Helton. Even if you aren’t as much of a visual person as I am, meditation is a powerful spiritual discipline to connect with God, increase your mindfulness, and reduce your stress. Travel with me through the times and the people in my life that came to mind as I sat with God in this meditation that asked, “How does God love you?” The answer to that question is there for you too.Want to reinvigorate the way you follow Christ? A couple coaching sessions would give you the space to explore what that would look like it! As a Christian Life Coach, I can help you move from where you are to where God wants you to be.
