Description

In this podcast we explore real solutions to today's problems, become educated on the issues, examine the bigger picture, and work to co-create a beautiful future where all people are free to live as they choose under a government that functions to protect our individual liberty and our common values. Together we will bridge political divides, find ways to rein in the power of corporations, and make a government that works for the people. Join me on this journey of awakening, where together we will remember the most fundamentally important aspects of the human experience. Truth, Love, Joy, Compassion, Community, Creativity, Oneness, and the infinite potential of every Human Being. Together we will bring these values back into politics. Together we will change the world. Cover Art by: phillipjrchacon

In this week's episode of Enlightened State, I talk to Paula Thomsen and Dan Trajano, who are activists with MN350.org and the Climate Majority Project. We talk about the far-reaching effects of Climate Change, how we can attack it from all sides, and how we might give people hope in a future free from the catastrophe of Climate Change. You, as an individual, can do a lot more than you may think to fight for your future.
In this episode of Enlightened State, I speak with Erin Zamoff, who is the Communications Director for FairVote MN, about Ranked Choice Voting. We talk about the undemocratic nature of a two-party system, the failure by the government to cultivate trust from the People, and how we might alter the incentive structure of politics to make out government a force for good once again.
In this episode of Enlightened State, I speak with the incredible Dr. Mark Brakke, who is the chair of Healthcare for All Minnesota. We talk about the inefficiencies of privatized healthcare, and how Americans are paying twice as much as any other country on Earth. We talk about the injustice of a system which profits from denying you the care that you need. We even talk about the total lack of trust in government endemic to American society today, and perhaps with policies like Universal Healthcare we will once again see our government has having the potential to do good.
On this very first episode of Enlightened State, my guest Ken Pentel and I dive deep into the dysfunction of our economics-driven system of values. We have a tendency to believe the idea that production and economic growth are the foundations of our society. The problem runs deep, all the way down to our basic measurement of success: the GDP. Ken proposes that the Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI) can fix many of the problems that the GDP represents, and hopes that it will get the ball rolling on accomplishing much needed change.
