Description

On the "Safe to Hope, Hope Renewed in Light of Eternity" podcast we help women in crisis tell their story with an eye for God's redemptive purposes. All suffering is loss, but God leaves nothing unused in his plans. We help women see his redemptive thread throughout their circumstances and then look for opportunities to join with God in his transforming work.

Today, Darby expresses God’s heart for a victim as He invites her into Scripture—an invitation into His word. She also helpfully talks about navigating a situation when someone has been the recipient of a misuse of Scripture—how to gently guide them back to hearing God’s word.Link to purchase any of Darby's books. In this episode, Darby Strickland and I continue our discussion about "Story" for the Safe to Hope podcast. Darby mentioned, the last time we spoke, that the Bible doesn’t shy away from providing us with details. But the words in Scripture  are not used for the purpose of venting. Scripture shares stories for the benefit of self and for the benefit of others. Scripture shares stories in order to improve our relationship with the Lord. So the question we started to answer was, how can we share strategically for the good of community? In episode two, Darby and I will help further our understanding of language in story telling and how it actually helps shine a light on sin.Link to purchase any of Darby's books Safe to Hope is a production of HelpHer. Today, we're going to turn the tables a bit here at Help[H]er and have someone else handle the interview for our Safe to Hope podcast. The idea for this podcast materialized when several of the Help[H]er board members asked Help[H]er Executive Director Dr. Ann Maree Goudzwaard to be interviewed so that she could introduce the audience more fully to the Help[Her] ministry with details of what they do. Here are Ann Maree’s favorite memoirs: The Glass Castle, Educated, Unbroken, All the Light We Cannot See, All My Knotted-Up Life, and an autoethnographic account, No Love in War.Ann Maree received her trauma training from Dr. Heather Evans and Dr. Phil Monroe at the Global Trauma Recovery Institute, and her advocacy training from Called to Peace. She mentioned the beautiful hymn by Wendell Kimbrough, Eternal Weight of Glory. And she referred to Question 109 of the Westminster Larger Catechism.Safe To Hope is one of the resources offered through the ministry of Help[H]er, a 501C3 that provides training, resources, and the people necessary in order for the church to shepherd women well. Again, we are joined by our storyteller, Anna as she helps us understand her process by sharing some of the ways the Lord spoke to and carried her during a really dark time.
