This week's field Interview is with another one of LA's premiere bassists: Brian Duke Song, A bassist known not just for his tasty baselines but also his unforgettable stage presence and legendary style. and this week for our non-bassist comedian interview assistant we have Comedian, Writer, Director, Musician, Freestyle rapper and consummate multi hyphenate hero Greg Smith (The Late Late Show with James Corden, Dopetown 3000)Our findings this week include:- Playing the bassline to Longview by Green Day makes people like you.- Middle school jazz band  are the best versions of those songs- If you break your foot during a wedding gig you have keep playing for sake of the Bride and Groom's special day. 
This week's interview subject is Bassist Joel Gottschalk. Joel is one of the most in demand bassists in Los Angeles and has toured with major artists including Theo Katzman and Philip Sayce. And to help me figure out why Joel is so dang cool today is Comedian, Improviser, Musician, all around good guy: Andrew Young (Stone Cold Paradise, Losers Pretenders and Scoundrels, Candy Apple Red) Our findings include:- There is a difference between active and passive basses- Tuba players are official in the community- Basses can straight up break- Somebody Feed Phil is delightful television
Today's field interview focus's on a very specific kind of bassist: the "Pit" bassist. The "Pit" being the hole in the ground or backstage area that houses that many musicians that accompany the musicals that fill the theaters of Broadway or around the world. Carlos Mena is a member of this rare breed of bassist so I thought it was important to get his perspective and whether or not he agrees that All Bassists are Cool...To help me interview Carlos today I’ve enlisted the help of my very funny and knowledgeable pal Nick Mandernach. On top of being a hilarious improviser and wonderful teacher Nick has also written for tv shows like Duncanville, and People of Earth and is also 1/4th of the incredible  improvised emo band Every Place I Cry. 
Today's interview subject is Omar Lopez bassist from The Original Wailers. He may be in the running for one of the coolest bass players in America which puts him in the running for coolest bass players worldwide and he shares with us a wealth of knowledge and ideas about what makes bass so cool.My interview assistant today is the hilarious and talented Conner Shin. Conner is a writer on the HBO Max show Harley Quinn and has performed and written for years in the LA Comedy scene. Todays findings include:-  The Piccolo is shrill- Singers can have attitudes because they don't have to carry anything- Primus takes time to get into- Bassists are the character actors of music
